I arrived at the drive-through at approximately 12:30 p.m. There was a significant line, and while waiting, I could hear the employee working the intercom telling several customers that the restaurant was out of multiple items, including chicken, or that certain items would require an additional 15-minute wait. When I reached the speaker, the employee told me, "I'm going to go ahead and tell you..." but then stopped speaking and left me waiting. She eventually returned and asked me to proceed with my order. The entire interaction felt chaotic and unnecessarily discourteous. I ordered a family meal with an additional fixin'. When I reached the pickup window, I asked three separate times whether everything was included in the box because I wanted to avoid having to return to the restaurant. I was repeatedly assured that the order was complete. After driving approximately 20 minutes home, I discovered that the pinto beans were missing, along with all of the biscuits that were supposed to be included with the family meal. I immediately called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager. When the manager answered, I asked for her name. She initially identified herself only as "a manager." After I asked again, she told me her name was Alyssa. Alyssa explained that the restaurant was understaffed and apologized for the missing items. I told her that I did not want to make another 40-minute round trip to correct the restaurant's mistake and that I simply wanted the purchase refunded to the card used for the order. She informed me that I would have to return to the restaurant with my card to receive a refund. I expressed my frustration that I was being required to spend additional time and fuel returning to the restaurant after I had specifically asked three times whether my order was complete. During that conversation, Alyssa told me to "shut the fuck up," called me "a little bitch," and then hung up the phone. I understand that restaurants can experience staffing shortages, inventory issues, and unusually busy periods. However, none of those circumstances justify a manager using abusive and profane language toward a customer. This conduct was completely unacceptable, particularly from someone placed in a management position. I am requesting the following: A full refund for the incomplete order without requiring me to make another unnecessary trip to the restaurant. A formal investigation into Alyssa's conduct during the telephone conversation. Appropriate corrective or disciplinary action based on the results of that investigation. Written confirmation explaining how this complaint has been addressed and what steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents. Information regarding how and when I should expect to be contacted with an update. This incident went far beyond an incomplete order or poor customer service. A customer should never be verbally abused by a manager for requesting a refund after the restaurant failed to provide the items that were purchased. Please confirm that you have received this complaint and advise me of the next steps in the resolution process. I am available by email or telephone and would appreciate a response within a reasonable timeframe.
