Horrible service and no they do not have: Mac and cheese side; hot and spicy chicken; waffle fries. Why advertise items you do not carry?

Big Bone BBQ & Wicked Wings - Beef ribs special (Wednesdays)

The waitress turned down the music but the fan noise from the vent hood in the kitchen is extremely loud. They would be wise to spend some money to fix that.

We went for a weekday lunch and they have beef ribs on special every Wednesday. I originally ordered a 6-rib dinner but our server advised that because beef ribs are a lot larger than pork, that a half rack of beef ribs is actually a 3-4 ribs, so I took his advice and got that. Glad I did! They were definitely huge. I asked for no beans, but got the coleslaw, cornbread, and fries, that came with it. While the sides were good, I focused on eating the ribs in-house because they were piping hot and the fries and cornbread could be easily heated later, if needed, without overcooking. The beef ribs take a bit longer, so keep it in mind if you're in a rush. The barbecue sauce had a nice kick to it, not necessarily spicy, but a kick, and also sweet and a bit tangy. The meat wasn't fall-off-the-bone and had some chew, which I didn't mind. Huge portion for sure! There was also a generous portion of fries. I call them Costco fries because most people understand what I'm talking about when I say that's the kind of breading/fry. I loved that cornbread came with the meal and wasn't an additional cost. I just wish it came with a pat of butter or something. If you're looking for a toddler-friendly meal, you can get the Buffalo fingers starter just plain, without it tossed in sauce. There are a ton of different awards, articles, posters, and signs that line the walls, including one that says they're now pouring Broadhead Amber Ale. Service was great, very attentive, fast, and friendly. We came just before the lunch rush, around 11:30-11:45am and there were plenty of tables and it was easy to order and receive our meals in a timely fashion. Family-friendly place as well, though I think they only have a couple of high chairs. Loved that it was laid back and they didn't mind our excitable little dude.

And did not complain. I waited for my kids to arrive and sat in a HALF empty restaurant for 30mins. Not sure what you would do if you were actually busy. What a waste. Disappointed and I hope others only visit when your parking lot is empty. Do this in my town and you'd be closed in under a week.

We waited at the front for a few minutes before we were greeted by a young Hostess. The restaurant was not packed by any means, but there were a few other patrons, mostly older people. It made me wonder if they were doing what we were doing: grabbing a bite before the show. Our waiter admitted that he was in training as he was new; this is his first week and only his 3rd day. He and another waiter served us for this visit. Oddly, the veteran waiter welcomed us back - and thought we were here recently! Perusing the menu, they offer good specials during the week. We both chose the 1 piece of fish and chips which is normally $15.00 and on special last night for $11.00. and a beer (Keith's I think??! at $5.00 on Wednesdays - a different beer every night.) I found all my food was delicious and would not hesitate to order it again here. I loved the batter on the fish, and the coleslaw was tasty if a bit too much sauce on it. Our service was reasonable, although they were a tiny bit slow bringing the bill. They must be aware of the theatre diners... None the less, I would go back.

My father-in-law was craving some of their ribs, so I went there with him and my husband recently for dinner. The last time I was at a Swiss Chalet, they pretty much only had rotisserie chicken. They had chicken pot pies and wraps, but I'm pretty sure everything was chicken. Well they now have ribs, rotisserie beef, and even shrimp! They had lots of healthy salads (with trendy kale and chickpeas) too. We started off with some chicken spring rolls ($7.49), and I got the rotisserie beef and garlic shrimp with the kale Caesar salad as my side ($15.49). My father-in-law was originally going to get the ribs, but then decided to get the same entree that I did, except he got regular fries as his side. My husband got the rotisserie beef and half rack of ribs with Parmesan fries as his side ($23.49). The spring rolls came 4 per order. They were actually a lot meatier than I expected. They were filled with mostly shredded chicken, with some onions, red peppers and spices. They were hot and crispy and overall pretty good. My rotisserie beef and garlic shrimp dinner came with 8 medium sized shrimp, a small serving of coleslaw, horseradish sauce, a dinner roll, and some beef in gravy. The kale Caesar salad came on the same plate and I asked for the dressing on the side and it arrived as requested. The salad was a mix of kale and romaine, with real bacon bits, real shaved parmesan cheese, and croutons. Ingredients were fresh and the salad was really tasty, especially since I was able to control the amount of dressing (as I always feel that restaurants overdress their salads for my liking). The shrimp were ok, some were plump and tasty and some were a bit dried and rubbery, at least they weren't overly greasy/oily. The beef tasted a little bit like processed roast beef to me, but I liked that it was mostly lean and not full of fat or gristley bits. It was however, a bit too salty for my liking. Overall though, pretty good for a casual chain restaurant and for the price. I'm usually not a fan of coleslaw, but this one was not overly creamy, so I didn't mind it. I had some of the parmesan fries and some of the regular fries too. Both were good. The parmesan flavour was really mild, and they tasted more like herbed fries. Swiss Chalet fries are not as crispy as I like, but they are still good, and at least not mealy. Our server was friendly and upbeat. She checked up on us appropriately. The air conditioning was blasting that evening. It was about 30 degrees Celsius outside, so I was dressed appropriately for the weather, in a sleeveless mini dress. I was freezing in the restaurant, lol. Other than that though, it was a pleasant dinner. I'm giving this place 3.5 stars (rounded up to 4) for what it is, a casual mega chain family restaurant with reasonable prices and large portions. There's lots of free parking in their parking lot.

Ok, by now maybe you know that Mary Browns is a chain our of Newfoundland, so I had to try this at least once. I never ever eat breaded and friend chicken; honestly, KFC is good enough! What can I say? I was hungry!! But I love Newfoundland, and I want to know how this compares!! Also to note: there was a lot of staff behind the counter, so things seemed to move fairly quickly. Oh and I saved something for next time: they have introduced banana pudding!! Sorry for the drool marks on this review... Two meal deals included drinks and coleslaw for, $28.00. I will update my review after I taste all this for the first time. My stomach is sincerely grumbling!! UPDATE: oh man, was this ever good! The chicken was juicy and tender, the coating was perfect! The fries were wedgies and already coated and flavoured, so we didn't add salt or ketchup. The coleslaw was so good that all they needed to do was give bigger portions! Delish!! Definitely deserves a 5-star!! Will return. Also fixed the spelling. Predictive text, my keister!
