We had to wait about 15mins for a table which was fine bc it was dinner time and it's a popular spot. We sat down and it wasn't 2 mins when the Famous rolls came out. The young man who threw them was super nice and I swear he should be in the MLB, he's got an arm on him I tell ya. Honey caught his roll with no issues. I caught mine straight in the chest and it exploded. It looked a little worse for the wear but BOY WAS IT GOOD!!!! Our server was super friendly and got everything out to us quickly. There were various servers with fried okra, macaroni and tomato's, black eyed peas, and other amazing sides. My only complaint was that they wouldn't serve me from the kids menu. I had a medical procedure that doesn't allow for me to eat much and the server said she wasn't allowed to serve me from that menu. Aside from that, everything else was amazing and we had a blast. We loved it!!!

Place is buzzing but he was right on point. Food.... Ok, I've paid more for less. Food not the of the quality I remembered. But, what hasn't changed in 15+ years. If I remember the chicken fried steak back then was hand breaded. They're now converted to the Sysco style commercial available item. Not different than what you'd buy at Sam's. Whipped potatoes were definitely instant. The rolls were hot and fresh and as advertised served in a unique fashion. The "pass around" they bring to the table add to the uniqueness of eating there. Kind of a Cracker Barrel vibe with similar to slightly better food. Definitely a lot more going on in the dining room than Cracker Barrel. Tourist Trap, Definitely. Tourist Trap worth the experience? Yes. Not a place I'd eat every time I'm down here, but there are lots of places with worse food which you'll pay a lot more for. A place you should try at least once. If not nothing else to improve your baseball or softball catching techniques.

Ok, ok. I tried the now famous spicy chicken sandwich. So yea, totally surprised. (Disclaimer: I…read morehaven't been to a Popeyes in two decades - not really my food level) I'm not sure what I was expecting but what I received really did surprise my taste buds. You immediately notice the thickness of the chicken meat, the freshness of the bun and the sauce. All compliment each other nicely. I think a really important part of a chicken sandwich is distribution and thickness of the sauce. With this sandwich there is no dripping out the back with the right amount to hit every bit. Some competitors chicken get soggy really fast on their sandwiches but this one stayed crunchy the whole time. So mark the day, I recommend Popeyes Spicy Chicken Sandwich.

They also have a Rojo sandwich I had never seen before. I ordered just the wings and sandwich, no sides. When I ordered the wings, the very nice lady gave me a look and she said, "You know they use a dry rub now...". Why didn't I take the warning?? They used to come to each location marinating in this really spicy, flavorful coating that delivered some serious heat.... No more. Now they take their plain wings - which aren't bad wings, they just aren't really hot, which is what I was looking for. Nope, they aren't hot at all. Very, very disappointing. Also, it took so long to get my wings that the person who took my order offered me free food to make up for it. I declined, I have to watch my waistline!! The Rojo sandwich arrived first and it was solid. I love the bread to chicken ratio this sandwich has. Really good sandwich and much spicier that the "Ghost Pepper" wings. The place was inviting and clean. Great music playing as always.

Southern food includes Meat-and-Three restaurants, barbeque, fried ANYthing, fresh caught fish, and…read morehunted game. Hominy, hush puppies, cornbread, grits, Alabama white sauce on any meat, especially smoked chicken, are all popular in Alabama. BBQ is practically a religion in the South! As former certified Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) certified judges, my husband and I completed the training and paid the fees to be certified. The "KCBS way" is different from a lot of people's preferences in that, for example, a BBQ rib should actually have some "pull" to it, meaning, when you bite into it, your mouth should leave a mark in the rib. This means "fall off the bones" ribs are not KDBS quality, despite how many love that rib consistency. The KCBS judges slots fill up so quickly and required us to travel at our own cost and we did not judge any KCBS events. Back to Southern food. Deep fried double Oreos are one of the many fried foods here in Huntsville, and Melt restaurant features them on their menu. Meat-and-Three restaurants feature a meat (usually fried pork chop, meatloaf, BBQ, fried catfish, country fried steak/chicken) and three sides (fried okra, creamed corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked potato, potato salad, cole slaw, French fries) and bread options such as cornbread, rolls, hush puppies. While Southern Cooking is absolutely delicious, I have to limit it because lets face it, it is high in calories and cholesterol. When I do indulge, it's shrimp and grits, pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, and fried whole okra.
