When I guzzled down a variety meal in here wearing a shirt and tie, the looks I got suggested that KFC is not a venue usually accustomed to formally dressed, business focused clientele. Indeed, while McDonalds does to some extent, have a tinge of universal eppeal, KFC seems happy being the lowest of the low. There's something tremendous about ravenously devouring the remains of these poor, water-injected souls, but the fact that afterwards you'll inevitably feel sick at the thought of a KFC for a good few weeks afterwards sums up the darker side of the food. It's greasy, terrible for you, and if the batter is even the slightest bit soggy, utterly disgusting. A bit of a batter based lottery then, and the chips are foul, but on a good day, a carnivorous delight.

Currently closed for refurbishment, this KFC holds a special place in my heart. When my boyfriend and I first started dating, we would go out and get very drunk and spend the next day hungover in bed. Around 8 o'clock we would drag ourselves out of bed and go here for a bucket. We would take said bucket home and set up an ironing board as a table and eat off the ironing board while watching a movie. This bucket was meant for 4 people, yet we always managed to polish it off. Isn't that romantic? Did you know that there are three types of gravy at KFC? It depends what the manager chooses to sell. The first is runny, the second is medium and the third thick. This KFC does the best gravy in Edinburgh and I think goes with the third option. Mmm the third option. KFC isn't complete without it's heavenly gravy, in fact the gravy is what makes the food that tiny bit more bearable because it is actually kind of gross. One time I saw a pregnant girl smoking here. That sums up the clientele, but you already knew that.

This KFC has recently been refurbished and as such is nice, new and shiny. I don't eat KFC's too often but now and again I get the overwhelming urge to devour a family sized bucket, to myself. There's nothing more satisfying than a meal from KFC with the chicken wings, chunky chips and a side order of beans too. If I'm not feeling particularly peckish I'll just go for one of their £1.99 boxes or some popcorn chicken which is amazing. In fact, I could go for some just now.

KFC always offers a tasty meal with quick service no materr what time you fancy it. The prolem, however, is that it's a complete rip off. For example, their Zinger meals cost about £6 and all you got was a tiny burger, some greasy chicken things, some chips and a small drink. You could argue that ypour paying for quaity, but this is definitely not the case. I invariably feel like gash after one of their meals. Further, my hands seem to feel greasy for hours after handling their chicken. Nonetheless, it's still tasty food and their popcorn chicken is undeniably amazing. Their Bargain Buckets aren't necessarily a bargain, but they're definitely tasty and filling. In comparison to other fast food restaurants, KFC might have the best chicken on offer but it comes at a price.

I didn't know that and did 2 orders of the full wings. I finished it, but it was a lot of food. Both the wings, and the fries were really good! The bathroom pretty gross, but other than that everything was great!

The theme inside was kinda surprising. It had a lot of movie and tv references, the most prominent being Star Wars. We also watched someone try their heat challenge. I'll just say I felt bad for the guy. We asked the waitress afterwards and she said not many pass. Most fail after 2-3 wings. Their normal heat selection goes from 1-8, but their heat challenge goes up to 11. For our food, I tried the Margarita wings, located in their "boozy" section. I really enjoyed these as they had a lot of flavor. I also got a side of mac and cheese, and chose chipuffalo sauce - a combo of chipotle and buffalo - it added a great flavor to the mac and cheese with just the right amoumt of heat. The other wings I tried were the Bit of French, which is garlic pepper flavored. It was actually really bland. I ended up dipping them into the remaining chipuffalo sauce. The restaurant is in a lot of stone, so you get almost no cell service. Just an FYI.

The sammiches come on a big, soft, delicious roll. And they're filled with a generous portion of pulled pork. You get to customize them a little bit by selecting your bread, the size of the sammich, the stuffing (sage and onion or the homemade haggis), and a variety of spreads (apple, homemade mustard mayo, homemade chili cheese, and homemade chili jam). My wife got the sage & onion, and I opted for a haggis filling. We both very much enjoyed our rolls. They were very filling, and the staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The haggis was unique, but we are very familiar with pulled pork sammiches back home. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely recommend Oink to any hungry travelers in Edinburgh.

There is usually a line outside this simple restaurant but possibly due to the light rain, the line was fairly short when I went. I only waited for like 5 minutes. The menu is simple as the roasted hog/pig is the only thing on the menu. You can choose a few things to customize the sandwich or even order it in a box. I ordered the Oink size (medium) on wheat bread and chose sage and onion for my topping and then the Homemade Mustard Mayo for the sauce. They make it in front of you and it is fresh and very tasty. Unfortunately when I went they were out of cracklings. They wrap it in foil and hand it to you. Pretty simple and efficient. I love that the outside of the building is painted pink like a pig (coincidence? Probably not). This is a good place to try for a quick, cheap and yummy sandwich. They do this one thing very well. I think it is important for us to include in the review if the establishment is halal as we also have a lot of Muslim Yelpers and friends who would love to know that and we can help them in selecting restaurant. Zuhus has a menu very much like Nando's. Or shall I say 'exactly' like Nando's. It's basically mainly peri peri based chicken, burgers and wraps. I came here twice but only had the peri peri chicken. The guy who served me was very accommodating. I ordered half a chicken but with 2 quarter chicken legs and he gave it to me. The taste of he chicken was up to scratch and the meat itself was juicy and tender. The size of the chicken I believe is slightly bigger than what Nando's is serving, which is of course a value for money. They have won my points on all aspects on value, taste and portion. However, they have lost my point on creativity and originality. This place is an exact replica of Nando's. From the menu, sauce and the bottle for the sauce (tall rectangular bottle). Why can't they come up with something more original? I would still recommend people to come here and definitely be back again myself.

The young lady beyond the counter on my first visit was very friendly and helpful, providing some lovely advice and tips for my trip (including for my proposed visit to her native area of England); if any manager/owner is reading, she gets major props! The gentleman who was working on my second trip was also friendly and helpful z but he was working on the back as well, so there was less interaction. Between my 2 visits, Zi tried a variety of pies, pasties, & rolls, all of which were very tasty (although there's something about a Greggs sausage roll; I'd stick to the pies and pasties here, and walk a couple of doors up the street for one of those.). We tried a Steak and Ale pie and an Original Scotch Pie with brown sauce packet for the pour over. I enjoyed mine (Scotch Pie) and could've eaten a couple more God willing. Along with an Irn Bru, this was a satisfying and affodable meal. Definitely give this place a try when in the area.
