    Plain chicken

Very bad... everyone in my group hated it!!! Worst chicken ever! If you want good chicken then just go to KFC instead because their chickens taste way better than this crap. The chicken is so unseasoned, dry, and bland. I tried the plain and spicy chicken, both were horrible. The mashed potatoes were way below average, I picked up the entire mashed potato with just one stab with my fork and it was bland and hard. The only good thing here was the salad. After eating here with my group I asked them to rate it and one of them said "the chicken is so bad that only white people dine here" the next person said "it's a hell no for me" and the other one right after said "it's a fuck no for me". This place is a hell no for me too. This place serves peasant's food for peasants to eat. I would suggest this place to anyone that would love to dine like peasants.

Captain Cheapskate bought dinner at this 2 star Michelin chicken joint! Olives, hummus & pita, plenty of butterfly chicken and 2 whole chickens. This UK chain is a step above Boston Market. It's consistent and cheap so I'm a fan.

Whilst I do agree that Nando's is little more than glorified fast food, to stick it in the same bracket as KFC is going a bit too far. At The Colonel's place, biting down on a pus-filled tumour is more or less par for the course, as is finding a cockroach or two in your chips, but standards are much higher at Nando's. Seeing them chuck a whole chicken on the barbeque is a buzz in itself, and when you get it delivered to your table, drenched in the hottest sauce they've got, the messy tables and rough-looking punters all become irrelevant. The meats of fantastic quality, well cooked, and just a joy to behold really. For about 9 quid you'll get half a chicken plus a couple of sides, preferably garlic bread and peri-peri sprinkled fries, and you'll stroll out that door pretty satisfied.

    A full platter. Apparently.

The food was great. The staff were lovely. It's just the logistical concept that I'll never get the hang of. You're taken to a seat where you choose from the menu, then have to leave that seat in order to order, then they ask you questions at the till that you weren't expecting to have to answer, with options that weren't immediately apparent. There are contradictions: you tell them what you would like your chicken to taste of, then are directed to an area where there are yet more flavours, this time out of a variety of bottles. Do you take the bottle with you back to the table while you wait - that seems a long time for a bottle to be sitting on my table when someone else might like to use it, no? Fortunately there seem to be plenty of staff/helpers/carers on hand to help you get through it. Nevertheless I've always like the 'Man eating chicken!' signs they have outside their various establishments. I'll go again, absolutely, but only with company that understands the process and can assure me that everything will be ok. Ok?

These pies are a great light lunch or snack when consumed by themselves. Or one can get a variety of them and make it a meal. The pies are made fresh daily and displayed in the glass case at the counter along with other British style fried foods such as Tattie Dogs, Sausage Rolls, etc. There are a variety of the infamous pies offered. We tried a Steak and Ale pie and an Original Scotch Pie with brown sauce packet for the pour over. I enjoyed mine (Scotch Pie) and could've eaten a couple more God willing. Along with an Irn Bru, this was a satisfying and affodable meal. Definitely give this place a try when in the area.

They make perfect snack sized pastries that let you try a variety without getting too full. Compared to other local pasty shops their baked pastries use better ingredients and are better cooked. I love how flaky and golden colored the pasties were. You'll find a variety of traditional pasties here as well as some unique creations worth checking out. My kids loved the hasbrowns wrapped around a sausage so much we ordered an extra one even though they said they weren't hungry before. This is located in a busy area and there are a small amount of seats inside against the window and a small table next to the drinks. There isn't any seating or place to sit outside so I wouldn't plan on eating here.

One evening in Berkeley, California, out to dinner with some friends at a Korean restaurant, I…read moreshared that I was heading to Scotland in July of 2019 and asked if anybody had been and had any recommendations for places to go. Probing why I was going a little, they got out of me I am of the Gordon Clan of Aberdeenshire, a Scotland of Old clan. One of my friends exclaimed, "Gordon!" He paused, looked me directly in the eyes and said, "You know we're rivals right?!" He is Nate James Lindsey. A member of the Lindsey Clan, one of the Gordon Clan's rival clans in Scotland of Old. Once we addressed our rival ancestries, he recommended to me The Baked Potato Shop in Edinburgh, the city I was flying into/out of for my first trip not only to Scotland, but to Europe as well. Well, I might as well go I thought, how bad can a rival clan recommendation be. The night I arrived in Edinburgh, 5 July 2019, I entered The Baked Potato Shop and was greeted by a friendly worker. After looking over the menu, I went with a baked potato loaded with vegan chilli and vegan Macsween haggis. After placing my order, paying, and getting the baked potato I thought the only thing missing from my first ever evening in Scotland was bagpipe music. No sooner had I thought that than I heard the sounds of bagpipes wafting across the cobbled lane out front of the Shop. Across the cobbled lane I went, lured by the wail of the bagpipes. After listening for a bit and providing a tip I returned to the guest house I was staying the night at. The food was delicious and filled my travel-tired belly. The haggis was the first I had of any kind, vegan or non-vegan, and it was an immediate favorite. Offset from my departure time zone by 8 hours, I went to sleep soon after eating. I woke up early the next morning ready to go. Turns out the baked potato and toppings cured my jet lag in less than 24 hours, quite remarkable. What a way to end my first day in Scotland, a recommendation from a member of a rival Scotland of Old clan yields tasty food. I will however note that I am also of Irish descent, so I am still not sure what to make of the recommendation in light of the Irish Potato Famine... Ahhh, Scotland of Old lives on.
