Went to KFC yesterday at 4 PM. Went to order the $20 bucket in original recipe. Was told that they only had two chicken breast in extra crispy so they could give me half crispy half original I said OK. Got to the window the gentleman who was very confused said we only have one chicken breast. So I said OK what are you going to replace it with a couple chicken thighs. He said I could give you one chicken thigh to replace the one chicken breast and I looked at him and I said that's not quite adequate. He said that's the best I could do so me and my money left not to return again. I have been to the KFC and Central Point several times over the years, and it sometimes it's been OK and sometimes it's been bad. Terrible customer service. Placed mobile order and app says to use drive through have screenshots. They refuse you service unless I went inside. Go inside the location is crowded with others waiting for their order. No mind about social distancing and keeping space between themselves. Overhear that the Mac and cheese is gone, person at the window says that she's giving them "extra gravy"!? Finally get to the counter and the person tells me that they can't fill my order and won't offer substitution for something that I paid extra to have in my order. Ask for refund which I'm told to cancel on the app. No such option on the app. Have to Google the customer service number myself. And ask them to cancel my order and inform them that the location is full and people aren't covered or respecting social distancing guidelines. Consistency!! I have yet to patronize a KFC restaurant which serves bad tasting chicken. This branch in Central Point, Oregon was a welcome sight. After a very long drive and late at night, we walked in. I thought the chicken would taste old and dry because of the late hour. Happily, I was wrong. Both the Crispy and the Original chicken were Yummy!!! Service was good and quick. Dining area was mostly clean. Conveniently located off the Interstate 5 Freeway. Terrible experience. There tonight at 5:20 and they had no extra crispy. I was told it would be 20 minutes - so, I waited. Then I noticed people who were waiting were getting their food but I wasn't. The only reason they even got 2 stars was because the food was good. The staff here and service was awful. We were stopping in on our way passing through... 7pm and two kids. We were rushed, the order was wrong, and the staff was not friendly. They did fix the order but it was definitely not somewhere I'd want to go again even if I was just adding through. I don't know why I continue to go to this KFC, maybe because there isn't a closer one and I am hoping it has changed but it just keeps getting worse. I have to ALWAYS check my order before leaving and 9x out of 10 there are items missing and I have to park (after going through the drive thru) and go inside and request the missing items. Of course I've learned this after getting home (45 min away) to find either missing items, wrong items, etc. So again it's been awhile since we have been in so on my way home from town, I give them a try again. I order their 10 pc Thighs and Legs Bucket. Let's start with why did they sub some pieces with wings? I didn't check which chicken pieces were in the bucket, shame on me, but really thought they knew what a thigh and leg looked like. The order appeared to be correct so home I go anticipating this actually might be a good meal. Wrong! Again, there were wings in the bucket and the mashed potatoes were so watery they almost poured better than the gravy. We stirred them thinking that's all they needed, nope. Someone really was screeching the profits tonight. Sadly the meal came with 2 mashed potatoes and gravy and they both were so watery we couldn't eat them. We actually were able to pour them down the drain without using the disposal. The chicken was greasier than normal and I again was not happy with wings, needed more thighs or legs. You would think that when you spend $36 it would be for what you ordered and edible. I'm going to stick to Albertson chicken which is a lot lot cheaper and a lot better tasting and you can see what they are putting in the box, not hidden. We actually joke that during their "training" they are taught how to screw the customer. Take their money but don't give the product or quality product. I hate writing bad reviews. I specifically asked when they would have some fresh chicken and I was willing to come back at a better time. The young lady assured me they just took it out of the fryer and it was very fresh. Well she either did not know what she was talking about or did not care because the chicken was cold and soggy. The Colonels' crew does it right, sometimes it's more than just the chicken: My family really enjoys a trip to "The Colonels" for a bucket of his delicious fried chicken, (we like it crispy) a little crunch, and then that chicken just melts in your mouth. Sure, it's "FAST FOOD" but sometimes that is just what you want. So the other evening we stopped by the Central Point, KFC, "The Colonels" on the way home. We don't have to spend a lot of time deciding what we are going to take home with us. That was not the case with the gentleman in line in front of us. We were not in any great hurry so we had all the time in the world to just observe the interactions between the order taker and the "gentleman in a quandary" There were not any other patrons in line, and we knew there would be chicken when it came our time to order. The order taker was professional and personable, I am just guessing he had done this a time or two before. It appeared the gentleman in line in front of us had limited resources with which to feed a number of hungry mouths. He was trying his level best to take care of everyone in the family with all the paper money and change he had. The order taker was the right guy for the job. He had the perfect patience and personality this job required. After some time the order was finalized, the gentleman paid with his paper money and coins. When his "to go" order was called out and he walked to the counter he looked different than the "gentleman in a quandary". His behavior and bearing had definitely changed. He stood taller, walked with purpose and appeared as though he had just made the deal of a lifetime. The order taker, not only did an exceptional job of filling the order, he did an admirable job of filling a customer with pride and self-esteem, and that is something that will last even when the chicken is gone. With the gentleman's order filled we were next, and we were easy, $20.00 "Fill Up Meal" please. We asked and got the order takers name and told to him what a GREAT job he did in helping the gentleman in line just before us. He thanked us for our patience and our chicken was on the way. I always figure, that if I am doing a poor job tell me, and on the other hand if I am doing a GREAT job tell my boss. So, we figured we would do just that, we dropped a note to KFC. Made my order which was a 16 pc with the 2 mashed potatoes, 1 Mac n cheese, 1 coleslaw and ordered one extra gravy. The cashier was very rude and told me "you know you have to pay for extra right" and of course I know that. So right off the bat he was rude on top of the speaker going in and out he was cutting me off while making my order. When I got to the window I saw my ticket it said 2 coleslaw and 2 potatoes. I know this is fast food, but seriously, customer service makes or breaks whole experience. This is the worst customer service I have experienced at a fast food place in a while. From the minute we walked in the server had a bad attitude.No greeting, no welcome. Just standing and staring. I asked if the had kids meals, no was the answer. Now I usually would expect a suggestion or a no, sorry. Maybe I expect too much. Then we order, with absolutely no comments from the server. After the order is placed we find out the lemonade costs extra, which was a surprise. So we ask if we can pay the extra, as I don't allow my son to drink soda. "No. I can't charge you after the fact." I'm not sure that makes sense, but good business would have just been to offer us the lemonade, as it's for a child. I went through the drive thru and ordered a 12 piece tender meal and the little girl on the drive thru speaker told me "We can't do that. We don't have any of those left." So I told her I was just going to go. After driving off, and after some more thought, I decided to go back and walk inside. Upon walking inside, I looked at the store hours and noticed that it was still 3 hours until they closed (even though their 'open' sign was off), so I knew it certainly wasn't an issue of them closing soon and not having time to make tenders. When I walked in, I asked the first guy to address me whether or not they had tenders and if I could order them. I also told him the little girl told me that they didn't have them. He replied, "yes we have them. It's just that someone will have to bread them and cook them and it will take 20 minutes." I told him that was fine and I was willing to wait. So, he walked away, and yet another employee walked up to officially take my order. I ordered a 12 piece tender meal (that comes with 2 large sides of your choice and 4 biscuits) with 2 mashed potatoes and gravy and 2 extra biscuits. So, the guy reads it back to me, "so that's a 12 piece tender meal with mashed potatoes and gravy, cole slaw, and 2 extra biscuits?". I said that I wanted both of my sides to be mashed potatoes and gravy. He told me it only comes with cole slaw and mashed potatoes and gravy. I told him that I get to chose my sides and I wanted both to be mashed potatoes and gravy. He had the gall to argue that it only came with cole slaw and mashed potatoes and gravy. Funny thing is, that the sign that showed the meal had potato wedges and macaroni and cheese. So he tried to give me 1 mashed potatoes and gravy and charge me extra for the second, and i didnt even get a third option. I told him that it comes with two large sides of my choice and i will not pay more on top of KFC's already outlandish prices for one of the cheapest meats on the market (chicken) and not get to chose my sides for the price of the meal. By this time I was so fed up with the worst fast food experience of my life that I just told him to forget it and walked out. This entire ordeal took over 20 minutes just for my family and I to have to go elsewhere. If you are going to pay $30 for a crappy chicken meal and not get what you want for sides (or get charged extra to get what you want) and also be argued with by multiple lazy child employees who want to make a $15 minimum wage, yet don't want to put in any effort at all, you may as well go buy some chicken, fry it at home and mash your own potatoes. It's been my experience that KFCs vary a good bit in quality. The one by Central Point is top notch in my opinion. The classic meal with two pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes and cole slaw is the best I have tasted at any KFC, and nowadays the price is fair and reasonable at $6.69. Truth is I love their chicken when it is done right and I think most folks enjoy the cole slaw and mash as well. Worth a stop next time you are near. read more
