A variety of cake is now offered, and the matcha crepe cake is amazing. I also tried the sesame latte & it was delicious! The fruity flavors of the shaved ice tasted super fresh. The taro was good, but I preferred the mango & strawberry. The service was great as usual. The owner remade our drink when he realized he used whole milk instead of oat. Overall, we really enjoyed D for Dessert!

Updating my review because this is not D for Dessert!…read more Still a great shaved ice spot for desserts and more in Hollywood. I came here after a beach day with my family as we were craving something sweet and refreshing. Since it was on the way home, it was an easy decision to stop by here. Parking is super easy as this is located in a parking lot with plenty of spaces. We got two of the bingsus-- strawberry mango and the earl grey boba tea snow. Both were so good and catered to different palates. I really loved the earl grey one because it came with lychee jelly which was an expected but pleasant surprise. The mango strawberry is a classic and it did not disappoint. The inside was clean and the staff was super nice. They also had cakes here and some specialty Asian desserts. A great spot for dessert in Hollywood!

They have daily specials. We had the Kare-Kare which is a peanut sauce on oxtail. The Lechon Kawali is pork belly with a crispy skin. It was very good quality. The Pork Pancit Bihon made with thin rice noodles was delicious. Our favorite was the sigsig. It is crispy minced pork and onion. The Ube cake is made by a local baker and tasted very fresh. I adore Filipino food; and when my Filipino pal Dennis showed off his meals at a local eatery via…read moresocial media, I had to go and try it. Back in a small retail area near SE 17th Street, this restaurant apparently opened in late 2019 and then had to close because of the pandemic. But it returned and now offers homemade food with terrific service. The place is small, seating about 30 in an at-home-at-the-dining-table style. Our server, who I think was an owner, was very friendly and even helped us choose a dish. We had to have lumpia, because it was one of the first Filipino foods we ever tried (decades ago). Although these were good, my friends' (shoutout to Analisa and Belinda) native eggrolls were much better. For our main entrees we had the adobosilog and the tapsilog. The adobo dish came with white rice topped with a fried egg, some shaved carrots, a couple of slices of cucumber and tomato. The adobo, though a tad salty, had a delicious soy-vinegar flavor and brought me back to the dish my pal Joe made for us a couple of times. The tapsilog was shaved beef that came with the same accompaniments but it was so salty that I had to mention it when the lady asked me how things tasted. She went and told the chef. (I did not complain about the adobo.) And he insisted that the price of the meal be removed from our bill. Ummm. OK. We splurged on dessert and shared the last piece of Ube (purple yam) cake (bought from an outside vendor) and a halo-halo. The cake was smooth and not too sweet. The halo-halo was shaved ice with ice cream, milk, and a variety of ingredients including beans, corn, and plain gelatin cubes. You have to mix it all up to get a good flavor. Hubby did not care for it because it was not sweet enough (yet he refused to add some condensed milk). It was my favorite dish of the entire meal. (I love cold, creamy, not-so-sweet desserts.) The portions don't match the price. While you get a humungous mound of rice, the meat is skimpy and entrees average about $20 each. And like most small places, there is a surcharge if you use a credit card instead of cash. Even with one meal removed, our bill was about $55 and would have been closer to $80. We do plan to go back and try some other dishes. Let's hope the salt content has lessened. (Remember chef: you can add salt but you can't remove it.)

Wow... this was a completely unexpected gem…read more Disclaimer: I'm a Canadian living in the Pacific Northwest, and I've almost never found authentic Quebec-style poutine in the U.S. (with one exception). Finding this in Florida honestly felt like that moment in Ratatouille when the critic takes a bite and is transported back to childhood. That's exactly what this felt like. Food: 4.5/5 Hot Chicken Sandwich with Poutine (4.5/5) Shredded chicken breast between slices of bread, absolutely drenched in gravy, with peas on top and a generous side of poutine. Magnifique. I haven't had a hot chicken sandwich like this since growing up in Canada, and wow... this brought me straight back. Thick-cut fries were spot on, and the cheese curds were exactly how poutine should be. Only reason it's not a full 5: the chicken leaned a bit dry, and part of me remembers this dish more with dark meat than white. Popcorn Chicken Poutine (4/5) Crunchy, tender, and satisfying. Same excellent poutine base, which really carries the dish. Service: 4/5 Friendly and helpful. They even gave me a heads-up that the sandwich would be drenched in gravy... which, honestly, is exactly what I was hoping for. Ambiance: Casual and comfortable. Works well for small groups or bigger hangouts. Final Thought: If you're craving real-deal poutine or a nostalgic taste of Canada, this place delivers in a way I didn't expect to find this far south.
