Admittedly, I try to stay away from places like this, especially since I'm trying to drop a few pounds but this place can be addictive. They have just about every flavor imaginable and the kids will love it.

I love a cold treat, especially during summer. I stopped in with my family while they were visiting & we were pleasantly surprised. We originally came for ice cream but decided on shaved ice. There seems to be endless flavors to choose from & the staff is helpful. I mixed passion fruit & mango. Huge portions & a fair amount of seating inside.

First time in Dania Pointe, it was hot, which made a shaved ice, a no brainer! The staff here was extremely nice and helpful. Had many inquiries since it was my first time here. Went with Pina Colada, which included alcohol. I didn't really taste the alcohol too much, but it was still pretty good. I would definitely recommend stopping here to avoid the hot summer days in Florida!

Good flavors and good sizes for the price! In a small, nice quiet area next to the Hollywood Beach :)

Go for the take home size, yes, it's that good

It never ceases to amaze me when I see the line of tourists waiting at Jaxsons. In order to go there to wait in line you will have passed up better ice cream at literally the other end of the parking lot, right next door! Don't get me wrong, Jaxsons is an institution and everyone should try it at least once, but after that skip the Old Timey and go for fresh, handmade, great ice cream. If you like Mint Chocolate chip it's the best anywhere, the mint flavor is strong and the creamy texture is sublime. $5 for a generous two scoops feels like a deal but we usually get a pint or quart and try and make it last 2 days (this only happens if I literally take it away from my husband and hide it in the freezer. I've actually never tried the shaved ice but I'm told it's great. I never get past the ice cream counter...

As an alternative to Jaxsons one block away is Key West shaved ice and homemade ice cream. I had the coconut and grape nut flavors in a small size doe $6. It contains two scoops and is more than enough to enjoy. I tried in the past banana, pistachio, and chocolate. You can taste that it was made with love. Jaxsons is great but this is wonderful alternative cheaper and avoid the long lines.

Located along Federal Highway/US-1, Key West Shaved Ice is a small business that serves homemade ice cream in a cup or cone (sugar-free or non-dairy), milkshakes, root beer float, fresh squeezed lemonade, frozen alcoholic drinks, cold beverages, and of course shaved ice with various toppings and flavors. Price range from $5 - $8. Because of covid, customers must stand by the entrance to place their order, be 6ft apart, and wear a mask. The gentleman inside was very cordial as he scooped rum raisin ice cream into a cup and handed it to me. The ice cream was creamy and had a light rum taste. I definitely enjoyed this sweet treat on this very hot day. I look forward to return and try other flavors.

Decent value for what you get. The flavors are tasty. But like I mentioned in my tip. No joke. There's only me here today. Fathers day 6.21.20. The owner has a short fuse. Gets aggravated quickly. Has no time for your questions. You better know what you want or else he get upset very quickly. It reminds me of the owner of that soup place from the Seinfeld episode. No SOUP for YOU !! No shaved ice FOR YOU.!!!!! Hajahajaha... You think I'm kidding. Take a whack at it when you visit. I'm the most content relaxed guy you'd want to meet. I'm in paradise in vacation. I had a fabulous breakfast at Bake Shack several hundred yards down the road. I'm so happy and in no rush at all. Living the dream baby. And two simple questions and this guy's feathers ate all ruffled. It's all good. Still a decent product. But it does melt quick.

Amazing service. The ginger helped me out and the shaved sour apple ice made my lips pucker.

Amazing ice cream!!!! The ice cream maker worked at Jaxsons for 40 years and his recipes are amazing. I had the $5 bowl of ice cream which includes two flavors. The cookies and cream tasted very fresh and had chunks of Oreos. The mint chip was made with large chocolate chunks and was delish. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and were served immediately. They offer samples! They also serve shaved Ices. This is a must place to visit, if you like quality ice cream. The $5 serving is huge! The staff was friendly and didn't rush our order.

Stopped here today as I had an ice cream craving. When I saw this place first open I figured these people can't be for real ice cream this reasonable right next to the big dog Jaxson's with their long lines. Well at first I thought they were closed as I arrived a little after 11:30 AM on a Saturday morning. As I do my check in on Yelp, they surprisingly open. The guy says we open at noon but I am here so opened early for you! OMG who does that what a nice guy. Anyway I try to figure out a flavor and decide on a small cup mint chocolate chip. $5 even wow what a bargain so I get scared that homemade is not good. But it actually is the opposite cool refreshing plenty of mint flavor as well as lots of chocolate. I am hooked! Definitely will be back soon to try the shaved ices and all the flavors of ice creams. This guy opening up early really made my day. So glad to try this exceptional product. Much luck and success against the big dogs next door. As for me I will only be stopping here. Thank you.

One of my new favorite spots for a icy treat! They have so many different flavors of syrup. Great spot for the kids. The best part is the ice is super soft. They also serve ice cream and get this folks... they serve adult snow cones with alcohol!!! My favorites include tigers blood, monkey juice and blue coconut. The Blue Hawaiian adult snow cone was very delicious and strong. The owner was very nice to talk to. He told me about the business and ironically he owns the other place called Snoballs on Sheridan (my other favorite spot). You can count on me to visit this place more often!

This photo right here is one of the best ice cream place in all of broward county.

I came here after a beach day with my family as we were craving something sweet and refreshing. Since it was on the way home, it was an easy decision to stop by here. Parking is super easy as this is located in a parking lot with plenty of spaces. We got two of the bingsus-- strawberry mango and the earl grey boba tea snow. Both were so good and catered to different palates. I really loved the earl grey one because it came with lychee jelly which was an expected but pleasant surprise. The mango strawberry is a classic and it did not disappoint. The inside was clean and the staff was super nice. They also had cakes here and some specialty Asian desserts. A great spot for dessert in Hollywood!

I adore Filipino food; and when my Filipino pal Dennis showed off his meals at a local eatery via…read moresocial media, I had to go and try it. Back in a small retail area near SE 17th Street, this restaurant apparently opened in late 2019 and then had to close because of the pandemic. But it returned and now offers homemade food with terrific service. The place is small, seating about 30 in an at-home-at-the-dining-table style. Our server, who I think was an owner, was very friendly and even helped us choose a dish. We had to have lumpia, because it was one of the first Filipino foods we ever tried (decades ago). Although these were good, my friends' (shoutout to Analisa and Belinda) native eggrolls were much better. For our main entrees we had the adobosilog and the tapsilog. The adobo dish came with white rice topped with a fried egg, some shaved carrots, a couple of slices of cucumber and tomato. The adobo, though a tad salty, had a delicious soy-vinegar flavor and brought me back to the dish my pal Joe made for us a couple of times. The tapsilog was shaved beef that came with the same accompaniments but it was so salty that I had to mention it when the lady asked me how things tasted. She went and told the chef. (I did not complain about the adobo.) And he insisted that the price of the meal be removed from our bill. Ummm. OK. We splurged on dessert and shared the last piece of Ube (purple yam) cake (bought from an outside vendor) and a halo-halo. The cake was smooth and not too sweet. The halo-halo was shaved ice with ice cream, milk, and a variety of ingredients including beans, corn, and plain gelatin cubes. You have to mix it all up to get a good flavor. Hubby did not care for it because it was not sweet enough (yet he refused to add some condensed milk). It was my favorite dish of the entire meal. (I love cold, creamy, not-so-sweet desserts.) The portions don't match the price. While you get a humungous mound of rice, the meat is skimpy and entrees average about $20 each. And like most small places, there is a surcharge if you use a credit card instead of cash. Even with one meal removed, our bill was about $55 and would have been closer to $80. We do plan to go back and try some other dishes. Let's hope the salt content has lessened. (Remember chef: you can add salt but you can't remove it.)

Finding this in Florida honestly felt like that moment in Ratatouille when the critic takes a bite and is transported back to childhood. That's exactly what this felt like. Food: 4.5/5 Hot Chicken Sandwich with Poutine (4.5/5) Shredded chicken breast between slices of bread, absolutely drenched in gravy, with peas on top and a generous side of poutine. Magnifique. I haven't had a hot chicken sandwich like this since growing up in Canada, and wow... this brought me straight back. Thick-cut fries were spot on, and the cheese curds were exactly how poutine should be. Only reason it's not a full 5: the chicken leaned a bit dry, and part of me remembers this dish more with dark meat than white. Popcorn Chicken Poutine (4/5) Crunchy, tender, and satisfying. Same excellent poutine base, which really carries the dish. Service: 4/5 Friendly and helpful. They even gave me a heads-up that the sandwich would be drenched in gravy... which, honestly, is exactly what I was hoping for. Ambiance: Casual and comfortable. Works well for small groups or bigger hangouts.
