Just had the worst Gyro ever here, and it was supposed to be a house specialty. The extremely meager amount of meat was gray pressed together stuff and not the roasted lamb/beef rotisserie meat I am accustomed to. It was more like a salad on a pita. Even worse, the fries were soggy and very starchy tasting, and the wait staff did you a favor to service the table. This was just an awful meal, and I reluctantly give it 2 stars because my wife did enjoy her blueberry pancakes. We will never return........ read more

This was our second trip to the Key West Diner. Our first trip was great, however, this one was so bad that we have decided to never return. There are too many good restaurants in the area to give this one any more of our $$$. First let me start with what was good. I really liked the scallops. I got the seafood feast (whatever it was called). Okay... that was the only good thing. Everything was fine until we received our food. My granddaughters' burger was burned so badly that she only ate half of it. I tried a bit of it and it did taste bad. My fiancé ordered a cheese steak wrap and fries. Her wrap was cold and tasted disgusting. She took one bite out of it and asked the server if she could get something else. The server said, since she ate half of it that nothing could be done. (it was cut in two and she took one bite out of it) I asked to speak to the manager and the manager reluctantly agreed to replace it with the Gyro. That she liked! When it came to my food, I liked my meal except the fries were UNDERCOOKED! At the same time we were replacing Jessica's food, I asked for fries that were cooked a little more. The manager reluctantly agreed to replace them. The server did apologize so I left her more than 20% tip despite the issues. Once we got to the car I realized that I was charged for the lemon wedges. I went back in to ask why and the manager said they decided to charge us for the lemons because we got so many .... (8 thinly sliced wedges total) The manager said they charged us for lemons because we got so many. Jessie and I got 2 lemons for each drink, so did I! The manager then went on to complain about their cost of food. I mentioned that I even left a nice tip despite the issues and the manager became increasingly rude. I activated my phones video and the manager suddenly changed her attitude and said, would you like a refund for the lemons? I said yes, and she gave me the money back. This morning at looking at the bill again, I noticed that they charged me for my granddaughters soft drink, which was supposed to be included in the kids meal. This is my last word and my last visit to the Key West Diner ..... NEVER AGAIN! I would have given this place a zero or negative rating, but you can't. :( read more

Awesome breakfast. We have driven passed this location for years. So happy we decided to stop this morning. Friendly atmosphere and service was great. Best diner in town. Husband started with french onion soup, so good, I got app of trench fries with gravy. Gravy is awesome, wish they were steak fries. Cooked perfectly. For dinner had turkey with coleslaw and Russian dressing. Very good, although could have used more Russian. Onion rings as side, crisp and hot. Hubby had cheesesteak, it was ok. Sweet potato fries were cooked well, but obviously frozen, as they didn't have much taste. For dessert we had orange cake. So good. Seems like the same one at dolphin bar, just cheaper and a little smaller. Service was great. I'd totally give it a 3.5 but Yelp stinks and won't let you rate half . read more

Was very disappointed. My boyfriend ordered the corn beef hash and grits which was ok and I ordered the ham steak and eggs and the ham wasn't what I expected so I asked to switch and get corn beef instead. The waiter came back and said they would have to charge me for half the food when I only tasted a little piece so I told them to cancel my order and only my boyfriend ate. The waiter then proceeded to tell me that I wouldn't have been charged half the amount if I didn't eat a piece of the ham as they could have reused it for another customer, how unsanitary. I'm bummed with this review but was once a regular stop for me has gone bad. Gave them 2 stars for previous experience but when I sit at the counter near the owner and get no service, 2 is generous. Waitresses won't help each other out, so even though they knew I was there they ignored me. Followed up with bad, I mean stale/rotten, turkey. Love the decor and the color of the place, very beach. My waitress was great, the food was pretty good but the hostess was extremely rude. When we walked in, we said hello and she just rolled her eyes to the side and said hold on. She asked if we wanted a booth or a table, we said it didn't matter and she once again rolled her eyes and stated that it was our choice. We said booth and she shook her head and led us to her table. The entire time she kept walking past our table and gave us the side eye... it was to the point that I almost said something or was going to just walk out but I was asked not to. She needs to leave her attitude at home or find a different job if she's so damn miserable. I'm kind of annoyed that I've recommended this place to people if that's the attitude they had to deal with. I doubt I'll be going back again even if the chicken lemon orzo soup is good. read more

We have been going to Key West Diner for over a year 2-3 times a week. Well our last few times the service really sucked and food was only mediocre at best. Well tonight is the final time we will be eating there. I orfered the beef stew that was on special and when it was brought to our table the waitress acted like the plate was hot. It was my first time there my in laws love it! The waitress didn't say her name she was an older woman with glasses and shoulder length brown hair. What a find! We were staying at a resort nearby, and this place was outstanding. Our waitress Joan was very, very accomodating, checked on us often, and even reccomended some beaches to visit. And the food was fresh and clean, which you don't always get at a diner. For example, I had one of the best Greek salads of my life, and a nice light homemade chicken orzo soup. We have been going to the Key West Diner since it opened. The past 4 times we have been there we have gotten undercooked food and had to send it back. Our latest encounter was just yesterday for breakfast and yes...it was undercooke...raw pancakes!! We asked to speak to the manager/owner (George) twice....and he never came out from the kitchen!! This place is definitely somewhere I would come back to. They had a HUGE menu. I dont quite understand why it was so big because it really made it hard to order. I was so split between sever items that I asked the server what his favorite was. He said the grouper sandwhich. I was very impressed. The grouper was very fresh and it was accompanied by some nice crspy fries. My server was very attentive and wouldnt let my glass go below half empty. We were meeting our grandaughter halfway between West Palm Beach and Vero Beach and looked on-line for a place where we could have breakfast. After reviewing what was written about the Key West Diner we arranged to meet here, never having seen the place before. What a delightful experience. All our food from pancakes and eggs, to the asparagas, mushroom omelette was delicious but the strawberry-cheesecake crepes were outstanding and something we've not seen at other diners. Our server, Linda, was most helpful and courteous. Last but not at all least, the decor was a truly fun, Key West atmosphere. Went for a Sunday morning breakfast and ordered tea. Waitress brought a decaff tea bag and when I noticed it she that was all they had, I told her I didn't want it and she said it tastes the same as regular tea. I said that she must not be a tea drinker to say that. She said she was and that the decaff was delicious. How does a diner run out of tea bags at 9:30 am? For me its like not having coffee. Ruined my breakfast which was only average anyway. Eggs over easy, home fries and bacon. I had a better breakfast at Perkins and they give you two tea bags with a pitcher of hot water. We were looking for a local place for lunch, not a chain, and found that this place had quite a few cars in the parking lot. Always a good sign. We pulled in and were seated immediately. We noticed that it was really clean in the dining area. The menu was really big, which you could think would present average food. I was surprised and greeted with great flavor and quality! I ordered a Western omelet, I got a veggie omelet. I do not like spinach or canned/jarred mushrooms which is what they use. I like fresh mushrooms. The waitress was thrilled it was not her error but did nothing about it, she did not even let the cook know to be mindful when cooking.
