If you live in the Florida Keys you know the uneven quality of the labor pool. I think that is putting it kindly. So when I bought a washer and dryer and a HUGE armoire from Habitat for Humanity Restore I asked for suggestions for movers. They recommended Dave Carlton from Key Largo Rain or Shine Movers. I contacted him and was offered a fair price and we scheduled the job. The first pleasant surprise was when Dave and his helper, Ryan, showed on time. Again, if you are from the Keys you know what I mean. They took great care in bringing all units up to my second floor home. I am used to movers removing doors, gates and the like but usually it's done after smashing my belongings into the obstacles once or twice. While the appliances were normal size, the armoire was massive, standing 7 foot tall and very deep and wide. They had all the right tools for the job and took great care getting everything inside and in place with no damage to the pieces or my home. Additionally, they installed the washer and dryer at no charge. Dave said he assumedI'd want it installed and figured that into his quote. He would take no extra money and turned down my tip. I gave Ryan a double sized tip with instructions to at least buy lunch for Dave. I am by nature and history a New Jersey cynic. The Florida Keys have done nothing to change my attitude especially in the post-Irma era. Dave performed so far above my expectations that I am delighted. I can't give him enough stars. I recently moved locally in key largo and hired Dave for the job, because he came highly recommend by a few friends and the lady at habitat. His whole crew was really friendly and polite and they took extra care with all my belongings. I saw they wrapped almost everything in thick blankets in their truck to make sure it wouldn't get damaged. I'd fallen behind on my packing and needed a little help boxing my stuff too and he brought his own boxes and his crew packed it up and even labeled it for me for easy un packing! They came prepared for the job too because I had a bolted dresser upstairs and they had all the tools with them to take it apart and dolly that monster down the stairs with no complaints. Thy did an amazing job unloading it too letting me chose exactly where I wanted them to arrange my furniture and after the whole job was done they asked if I needed anything else arranged or changed to my satisfaction. Their pricing was really fair too. I was dreading this big move but Dave's rain or shine movers made it allot less stressful and I'm really appreciative. I highly recommend them. read more

We recently decided (on very short notice) to empty our townhouse for a remodel and spend time up on the mainland. I called Rain or Shine and Dave was able to accommodate me on the date I requested. On the moving date,just last Friday, Dave and Crew (David and Daniel) showed up ready to work. They were all super friendly and professional. In under 3 hours, they had everything loaded up and actually made it to the destination 120 miles away before me. Dave remained true to his "out the door, no hidden costs" quote. I can't believe one star was given. I had an amazing experience with mover Dave and his coworker. They did an amazing job. Were extremely diligent. They took apart a bed and put it back together better than it was when they arrived. Also I was in a second story apartment so they had to carry everything down to ground level. An amazing team. Also positive when listening to ideas on what to move next and how to move it. They also helped me place the items exactly how I wanted in my new place with patience and suggestions. So they did a fantastic job. I was moving down to key largo from mobile Al. I needed some furniture picked up and delivered from Homestead. They knew exactly what they were doing when taking apart my bed and mirror from my dresser. Took very good care of my furniture. Put everything back together once they delivered it to my house. Hard to find reasonable & responsible service in Key Largo. Had a large move planned & scheduled with a local mover backed out, at the last minute due to bad weather. I called Dave on the fly & he sent a guy over to help pack, immediately. His main crew finished their day & showed up on a late Saturday & worked until 10pm.
