I have gone to several dentists in my life of 74 years. Dr. Carl E. Anderson is the best dentist…read morein terms of competence, skills, kindness, and takes his time with me (no hurry). I call Dr Anderson my 0 dentist... zero pain. During dental procedures, he uses lidocaine gel on my gums before inserting a needle, takes his time, and GIVES time for the numbing agent to work. Jill, his assistant, is also very competent, kind, and experienced. Dr Anderson and Jill work so well together that they do not have to talk... working efficiently together. The office atmosphere is kind, friendly, and HAPPY. I totally recommend this dentistry to all.

My issue has been and still is with their front desk receptionists. Rude, rude, rude. Even my first day returning six months ago after a few years hiatus, I watched the receptionist yell at some patient that walked in the door because their mask wasn't on. Called to cancel an appointment today, less than 24 hours notice as I had forgotten to do it yetsterday, and got chastised with an condescending attitude like I was twelve years old, bascially waiting for me to "give in" to not cancel. Told her I had been unemployed for months and just couldn't afford the $100 cleaning at this time, and she proceeded to tell me that "Well, regardless, you cancelling is now preventing us from what WE'RE trying to do here..." She proceeded to remind me four or five times about the 24 hour notice as if I didn't hear the first few times. Wow. She couldn't care less about me or my pocket, as long as I didn't cancel so they got THEIR money. It's not like they wont fill the appointment. It's clear loyalty is dead these days. I'm surprised Ayottes patients haven't moved on. "Family" dentistry, huh? I guess if maybe it was the Addams family.

I was not overly thrilled with this place. I have a hard time going to the dentist/ oral surgeon…read moreand have had bad experiences in the past.. I absolutely. love my dentist up here. I need a tooth extracted, a tooth that would be right in front of my wisdom tooth it has needed to come out for months these last 2 yrs have been horrible w/my teeth. My dentist he's made things easy & smooth. Because he knows I tend to have very bad anxiety attacks / hyperventilate... I haven't even had a cleaning in god-knows-how-long and they reassured me when I come in you can even have nitrous for that which I had no idea period they reassured me when I went to this group that they would make me feel comfortable they would give me nitrous blah blah blah. HOWEVER....THIS WAS NOT THE CASE.... I wasn't given nitrous... Dr. Parker kept calling me girlfriend, "hey girlfriend you're doing well"... they gave me novacaine but the pressure was unbelievable it really hurt the dental technician was holding my hand like I was 5 years old. I was a sickly clenching my other hand to where my nails are almost into my skin & had White Knuckles. I can't moving my legs around the pressure was Unreal. He says to me looks like U look like U have an infection in there...Do you they gave me an antibiotic or anything nope?? They put gauze in your mouth & tell U to change it often. That you're probably only need it for about 30 minutes. No I needed it for about 2 hours and there was still bleeding for hours after that. I won't get into those details. When I see my dentist I'm going to let you know unsatisfied I am and if I ever need to go to an oral surgeon again I will not go back to that practice even though that's the place they recommend. They do have 4 different locations Clinton, Guilford, Hamden & Wallingford... I know they're all surgeons and dentists. The only positive thing was the receptionist was extremely friendly that's it.

I made my appointment two months in advance and was nervous for the two months leading up because nothing scares me more than the idea of getting my wisdom teeth out. I first spoke with the receptionist the day before my appointment when she called to confirm. She was cold and sounded a little irritated, which wasn't the best way to start off. Flash forward to today (the day of my appointment) and I arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. The receptionist asks for my insurance, I hand it to her and she gives me a nasty look and tells me they can't accept it because it says nothing about dental insurance. I politely inform her that I've had the same instance my whole life and have used it at every dentist I've ever been to. She literally rolls her eyes and says I need to call my insurance company and "figure it out." Whatever. Then I go sit down to fill out the paperwork, when she proceeds to close the window and turn to her associate to talk shit about me, saying I had no clue what I was talking about, and who sends their kid to an appointment without knowing what they're doing, etc. Holy unprofessional! I go to hand her the paperwork and she hands it back because the insurance part isn't filled out. I then tell her that I left it blank because she told me I was wrong, and she tells me to write it anyway. I swear to you that I'm the least confrontational person EVER but I just snapped. I told her she was condescending, rude, and unprofessional. I then called my mom to confirm that our insurance was correct ( it is) and the burst into tears, grabbed my shit and left. Dr. Parker, I'm sure you're really nice, but your receptionist sucks.
