Her love for music and her desire for me to feel confident about my ability made it an absolute pleasure to learn the piano again. He is turning 4 in a couple of months and we absolutely adore Nikolai. My son loves his class, naturally gravitates toward him even at a young age. His classes are interactive to both children and caregivers. His philosophy on including adults to join in the singing/dancing with the children during class time is on point with how I feel. The songs/activities are very age and developmentally appropriate to help with speech. It's been a tough year and a half for everyone and Nikolai did everything he could (on line classes, and outdoors classes) to keep things going. She creates special programs to suit the interests of the student but insists upon building core competencies such as reading music, scales, singing/comping, etc. Our friends' kids have Alexandra and love her as well. The students in the program are comfortable playing jazz, classical, pop, rock, etc. and aren't stuck in one genre. Treblemakers tailors the program to your kid's interests so you can request any song and they will work out appropriate arrangements. But don't worry - the teachers at Treblemakers all have been trained at the top music schools and have the chops to teach very difficult classical and jazz pieces as well. Most programs will not have the breadth that Treblemakers provides. (Kids can also learn a multiple instruments as well.) Suzan wrote her own method books that have great catchy tunes and they layer and layer until kids gain all the core skills including scales, chords, arpeggios, major/minor, etc. Then all of sudden the kids are really ready to play anything... Treblemakers is a family business with scheduling run by Anthony who also inspires the children, has a deep interest in the education of all students, and always makes sure the kids and parents are happy and reaching goals. There are performances by the masters; Saturday night Howard Johnson performed with his tuba quintet GRAVITY!!! http://www.hojozone.com Yesterday evening there was a salon on multi-instrumentalism with Howard Johnson and Scott Robinson; between the two of them, they probably play most of the instruments ever invented--including cornet, flugelhorn, tuba; tenor, C-melody, baritone, bass, and contrabass saxophone; alto and bass clarinet; penny whistle; contrabass sarrusophone; theremin; and ophicleide. The Conservatory was founded in 1897 and their mission statement says: "The Conservatory promotes individual and community growth through music, and is committed to making music accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels." This is a wonderful, welcoming place, and fortunately can be easily reached from Manhattan on the Q train.

I paid for two day shipping and receive it. Two days later the guitar was packed recklessly I've never seen a guitar packed so sloppy as I unwrapped the guitar from the bubble wrap as I'm taking it out of the box I see two very noticeable dings on the front of my guitar that was not listed on guitar centers website. I paid a little extra because this guitar was listening in great condition. Meanwhile, it came all beat up not only that the toggle knob was missing the barrel tip and the guitar was filthy dirty I couldn't believe that a reputable company would send a guitar out like this. I'll never use guitar center again ever and I highly advise you do the same. Don't try calling them. You'll never get them on the line. They got my money I ain't getting it back. They make it hard for you to get a refund. I'm done with this company. I don't even know why I bothered using them again. Definitely have buyers remorse.

After considering buying a new guitar at a modest price point, I talked to a very friendly young guy at the repair center and told him about my old Epiphone. He agreed that probably a simple adjustment of the neck for under $100 bucks would do the trick. Today, when I walked back into the store, there was an incredibly sour, rude, and dismissive older guy -- I didn't catch his name, but his accent told me he was of Eastern European origin like me. When he first saw me, he started heading for the back door. But I said hi. So he stopped and turned around. He did not say hi back. I told him what I needed and about my conversation with his colleague the day before.. He gruffly told me to take my guitar out of the case and then mildly barked at me when I pointed it in the wrong direction because he hadn't told me to rest the neck on a rubber stand I didn't see. He poked around for a couple of seconds. Then asked me what the value of the guitar was. I told him it was a 1970s Epiphone, nothing special, but the label was also in the guitar so he could have seen for himself. Then he announced it would be AT LEAST $1200 to fix because of all the work he'd have to do. There was no, "Sorry to tell you," or "You might want to consider..." Just a get the f- out of here kind of attitude. I said, "Well, that's ridiculous," as he turned his back and I left. I mentioned it to the security guy at the door who had signed me in (because I walked in with a guitar in case) and he said, "You're not the first person to say that {the guy is a jerk and a poor representative for the company.) And he told me to come back tomorrow. That, frankly, is doubtful. And normally, I don't rag on people online. I like to point out who is doing a GREAT job. This time, though. I couldn't let it stand.
