We knew it'd be great when we saw the line of cars for the drive thru. We opted to dine in and even with minimal seating we were able to grab four chairs. The options are endless! Cronuts, kolaches, donuts, cronut/kolache/biscuits in one, traditional and iced coffees, and more. The staff were on it and hustling hard for the rush. We tried a bit of everything. The sausage and cheese kolaches were great and the plain glazed cronut was fantastic. The kids loved it here. We'll be back when in the area. Plenty of free parking out front. Sunday, 30August2026…read more Today found my Wife and I back at College Station on a delivery run to replace a broken computer monitor to my Grad Student daughter. She recommended Karma Kolache to us for breakfast on the way home, saying they make really good kolaches. We took her up on that recommendation and stopped by to get some food. Walking in, you notice the variety of kolaches and other sumptuous creations behind the crystal clear glass barrier. I had a hard time making a selection of treats and ended up going with the spicy boudin kolache and the breakfast croissant sandwich with bacon. Now, I am a lover of most things spicy, but the spiciness of the boudin was underwhelming. Don't get me wrong, the boudin had good flavor, texture and hit the right notes a well made boudin filling should have, just not enough spiciness for my palate. The bread wrapping it up was soft, mildly sweet and had a very nice mouth feel. I liked it very much and gobbled it down. After that morsel was scarfed, I tucked into the bacon, egg and cheese croissant sammie. The croissant was flaky and buttery like a proper croissant should be, but what really surprised me was the bacon. Crispy and sweet. Maple or honey made it a great foil against the creamy flavor of the croissant. To be sure it wasn't the croissant carrying that sweet, I picked some bread off and ate it then did the same with the bacon. For certain, that sweet was the bacon. The egg and cheese were there for texture and complimented the bacon and croissant nicely. While the prices were not too high, around the same prices as comparative items at The Kolache Factory, but the quality is at a higher level. Portion size is another Factory beater. The sandwich could be enough to make a meal off of if your appetite is average, unlike mine. They had an assortment of other traditional pastries, but that will have to wait until my next visit to College Station. Sorry, but no pics this time. Ciao, Darrell

This isn't nostalgia. This is a review of execution…read more Most "kolache" I've tried after leaving Texas fail the fundamentals -- dough too firm, fillings dry, or grease overwhelming the structure. Kolache Rolf's still gets the essentials right. The dough is soft with a light chew, never gummy, and structurally sound. Their heat control is precise: cheese melts cleanly, temperature stays even, nothing scorches or collapses. Discipline matters. Jalapeño Ham & Cheese My baseline item. Real ham, balanced salt, heat that blends into the dough instead of fighting it. Sausage Kolache Small-link style with a clean snap and proper dough-to-meat ratio. Technically correct, no shortcuts. Bubba Buns (egg + coarse-ground sausage) Rich, but the fat is clean and aromatic. Filling stays loose and airy rather than compacting into a dense lump. This is the savory profile that still reads unmistakably Texas. Since leaving Texas, I've looked across multiple states for savory kolaches with this level of dough structure, filling texture, and seasoning discipline. Many resemble it; very few perform like this. And there's a pattern: Whenever I meet Aggies outside Texas -- different cities, different careers -- a surprising majority mention this shop first when talking about what they miss. That type of consensus doesn't form around an average product. Five stars - on execution alone. - Dr C Only writing for what truly earns the stars.
