Holy matcha. I truly love an authentic matcha. No sugary fill. No dull color. Just bold, pure Japanese matcha. I had found Kettl on Instagram, so I was already a little suspicious whether or not this would be the real deal or just some influencers hype, but it was the real real deal and it was perfect. The line moved quickly and we got to choose from a variety of matcha options. I went with the top option and it was perfection! Beyond matcha lattes, they serve the tea itself or you can get a soft serve. They also had a little bar in the back for matcha tasting.

This is a really cute tea shop nestled in Greenpoint. I've heard amazing things about the Matcha, and I wasn't super impressed unfortunately. To be fair, I tried the Hojicha but they are also well known to have great Hojicha. It was clumpy and grainy unfortunately. It wasn't obscenely overpriced though which is a plus here in NYC. One thing is that the girl that took my order was a bit rude. The other people working there were very nice, but she was visibly annoyed at having to take an order. I do want to go back and try the matcha since it is supposed to be amazing and maybe this was an off day, but this was unfortunately a bit of a miss.

I have gone to Kettl with a reservation in the past and I deeply enjoyed the experience. The drinks have a distinct grassy/vegetal flavor which help me feel in tune with nature. This is as fresh as matcha gets - and reminds me of some of the matcha/hojicha I got in Japan. The environment is what you would expect in a upscale tea/drink shop - peaceful, aromatic, clean, vibes of a relaxing Saturday morning, all day, every time it's open. The staff are also kind and have intimate knowledge of the drinks too. Will return :)

Kettl certainly sets the standard, easily establishing itself as a top source for exceptional matcha quality. Tried the Hukuju from Yame, a blend I found to be quite bold and aromatic. Its profile offered a clear umami depth, reminiscent of fresh seaweed? I look forward to returning soon to compare their full range of matcha offerings in a tasting

Love the Greenpoint location as it's convenient with all the local shops and restaurants! I love the ample amount of Japanese ceramics available for purchase. You have to be a tea enthusiast to appreciate this place. I was in absolute heaven. I love the variety of teas and matcha on the wall with the descriptions for each. It makes it easier to make a selection for drinking and buying for items you're unfamiliar with. I picked up a packet of genmaicha which I absolutely love. It was $20 for the bag which I found affordable compared to other quality shops. I ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk. This comes sweetened with honey but you can add additional or simple syrup if you would like. I can't remember what type of matcha I ordered but it was their standard and the cheapest one on the menu if helpful. It is quite dull in complexity and pretty light so I would try a different version next time. However, it is still good. One of the baristas were really nice and helpful and the others could care less about being there haha. It does look like they do classes at this location which is pretty neat. I'll have to try next time if I'm looking for an activity with friends. If you're in the area, hopping around matcha spots, I would recommend this place. It's located in one of my favorite areas so you can make an afternoon out of it.

I've been a Kettl fan for years and can't believe I never took the time to write a review until now. I love matcha/hojicha drinks and things so I'm keen on trying the million new spots that keep opening up around the city but in the end, I always come back to Kettl. The quality of matcha/hojicha is consistently top notch. They typically have 3 different matcha options with different notes so you can choose based on your mood/preference. They offer a few snacky items like chocolates, cookies, and a soft serve (with a soba crunch topping that pairs perfectly). Kettl has a very relaxing vibe with a decent amount of indoor seating (some outdoor as well). It has a traditional feel to it with tea to browse and purchase along the walls (rather than embedding an "Instagram worthy" spot). Oh and there's a bathroom. What more can you ask for.

SERVICE - located in greenpoint on a busier street with other shops and restaurants - good amount of indoor seating for small or mid sized groups - small benches to sit outdoors on a nicer day - baristas are knowledgeable and help you decide what drink to get - drinks made fresh to order relatively quickly MENU - Japanese tea with a focus on the tea itself - plant based milks available - average price DRINK - genmaimatcha (8/10): brown rice dusted green tea. I got this as per the recommendation of the barista when I asked for something that would be good hot and without milk. It tasted less grassy than a typical matcha and had a slight umami flavor from the brown rice. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes, though I do think you need to appreciate tea to enjoy this place. I liked how they highlighted the different types of matcha and other tea cultivars rather than fancy additions or lattes. I would want to come back to try more of their drinks and possibly buy some of the leaves or powders.

I remember having my first taste of matcha ice cream when I was 7, and my taste buds and olfactory senses lit up with the earthy and comforting scent of green tea, and I've been chasing that strong tea scent with every new matcha ever since. Kettl's passes this test, whether you're getting a straight up matcha or in their high quality soft serve. No artificial flavoring here, just ceremonial grade stuff. There are some tables and seats inside, and you can find people working on laptops inside on most days. The times I've visited have been very serene and quiet, so not the ideal place to catch up with a friend, unless you take your matcha to go. The parfait you see pictured a lot online is discontinued, but their many pastries more than fill the void.

I'm a regular here even though no one knows my name. I've tried almost all of their matcha latte flavors but TODAY, I'm trying their black sesame corn matcha latte with oakmilk. It's vegan. Holy mother this is IT. It's actually not too sweet and has that interesting flavor combo that I've been searching for. No more basic bitch strawberry matchas ;) Another favorite is their soba cookie crunch - not too sweet but still satiated that sugar cookie craving, with a perfectly baked and crispy shell and soft inside. But for a tried and true, their hot matcha lattes are a staple in my rounds. The hojicha lattes are also a heavy hitter. You just can't go wrong here!

I came to Kettl for an afternoon pick me up after lunch as I heard great things about the quality of the matcha here. I got the white peach sparkling matcha soda which was super yummy with a sweet and tart peach syrup, strong rich matcha and sparkling water. It was a great drink if you're looking for a lighter drink without any milk and the sparking water makes it super refreshing on a hot summer day. The store has a large table and bar seats if you want to stay for a bit and the overall ambiance if really nice and serene.

Beautiful interior. There's not much seating, only one large table in the middle with a couple chairs. The staff were so sweet. I got the uji latte and the matcha quality was incredible. They have bottles of honey and simple syrup so you can add the sweetener to your liking which I appreciated. A bit pricey, but I've had other matcha for the same price but no where near the same quality.

came a couple times in the past for matcha - they offer such variety to taste and purchase! a lot of varieties can only be purchased at kettl. I haven't seen hojicha powder sold anywhere else in the new york city area. came back for a tea tasting at the bar in the back of the space. It was amazing!!!!!! pricey for sure but you will feel like it's worth it. rather than just drinking tea it's entirely an experience. I left feeling calm and fulfilled. Watching our guide carefully go through the process of making each drink we ordered was like watching a show! 10/10 would recommend. we also got some small food pairings to enjoy

Hukuju (Yame) Latte - left Suiteki (Nishio) Cortado - right

Came on a hot day and we needed to cool off! In we went to Kettl. Cute cafe, with a bar area and sitting area. It can get quite crowded. Lots of matcha powder and various brewing tools on display for sale. Possibly a great gift for a matcha lover! We ordered a Hukuju (Yame) Latte and Suiteki (Nishio) Cortado. The hukuju had such a nutty flavor! They were not kidding. The blend of matcha and nutty flavors created a unique taste. Beginners beware. I loved it though. The suiteki had a light floral taste. Deep matcha flavor, very nice color. Rich in taste. Cortados have less milk in it so that's why it's not filled to the top! And lastly the soft serve. They have rotating flavors and for that day we had the houjicha flavor! Delicious, creamy, bold in flavor. A must get on a summer day. The cone? Amazing.

We went to many souvenir shops but this place was a clear stand out. Greeted warmly upon entering,…read morelots of items (there are a lot of things in a close space, so you to have to navigate a bit). Prices were comparable to other shops but had a good variety of items (shirts, magnets, pins,etc.). The man working also gave us two stickers with our purchase and was kind. Definitely would recommend!

This souvenir shop was highly rated so I came here based on Yelp and Google reviews and honestly, I…read morewas kinda disappointed in the selection of clothing. It was the same stuff everyone else was selling, but like less variety. However, I can say their prices were a lot lower than other shops. For example, I bought a pair of pink I Love NY pajama pants for $19.99 in size small. It was the last one. I needed a medium but they didn't have one. I ended up getting it for myself and figured I'd find a size medium in another souvenir shop. Well, I did but the same pair of PJ pants was $29.99! So I can confirm the prices at this store is cheaper (at least for PJ pants). I also ended up getting a lighter for my brother in law last minute and all the lighters by the register were just meh. I bought a lame one anyways. And then just as we left the store, they had all these other cooler lighters in the window on display. Too bad none of those were actually out on the shelves.
