Bloomsbury Blooms - Centerpiece for a cocktail table

A friend highly recommended that I work with Dallas for my wedding flowers and I was so glad that I…read moredid! When I met with Dallas in her shop to discuss my vision for my flower arrangements she was warm, funny, and immediately understood what I was looking for. She knew the venue well (Crow Creek Mine) and provided tons of advice and recommendation above and beyond just the flower arrangements. When Crow Creek Mine sent me the layout of our reception I forwarded it to Dallas and she actually edited it to make it better. When she showed up the day of the wedding to arrange the flowers the layout was a little different than what we discussed, but she was able to adapt her arrangements to make the reception look gorgeous. Dallas did all of our center pieces, four flower crowns, my main bouquet and a tossing bouquet, four boutonnieres, and four corsages. She also brought additional accent pieces for my cocktail tables and left blooms for my dessert table. I loved my bouquet. She took the elements that I described and made it into a beautiful reality with tons of texture and different types of greenery. The quality of the flowers was apparent when the bouquet lasted for a whole week after the wedding. I took it camping with us down in Tutka Bay and tossed it off the back of a sea kayak, which seemed fitting for the end of an Alaskan wedding. I especially loved the wrist corsages she created. She used silver cuff bracelets, which made them look very polished and sophisticated on my mother and mother-in-law (not like a cheap prom corsage). Everything was perfect and beautiful and I was ecstatic with the way that everything looked. I know Dallas also offers a la carte items, but I have to say, having the full service treatment where she set everything up relieved so much stress from the actual day.

Planning a destination wedding from afar can be stressful, especially when it comes to choosing…read morevendors since there is a good chance there will be no time to meet before the big day. But after reaching out to Dallas at Bloomsbury Blooms the distance disappeared. We had many phone dates - some that lasted for more than an hour! She is very easy to talk to and completely embraced my vision for our big day. Most importantly, she worked with my budget without judgement or pressure. If anything she used her creativity to help re-use our flowers from ceremony to reception for a multi-purpose use. I am forever thankful for Dallas and couldn't recommend her more. Thanks, Dallas!!

Absolutely lovely coffee shop! We came here twice during our stay in Anchorage and enjoyed it each…read moretime. Combo coffee and plant shop, and it really gives it so much charm and character. Such a relaxing vibe. Was definitely busy both times we stopped by - had to wait about 20 minutes for our drinks - but they were efficient. There were just so many people placing orders. Drinks were delicious. Came during the fall, so got to try their fall specials. Loved their Blueberry Crumble Latte. Blueberry is one of my favorites in a drink, and you could really taste the blueberry in this one. Also enjoyed their Harvest Jasmine Fog. I usually like to sit and drink my coffee after ordering, so the only downside is they don't really have seating options inside their shop. It was just one couch with a table. But with all their plant merchandise, it's understandable why there isn't any space for tables. Overall, a great choice for coffee. Highly recommend.

Great coffee joint. We ordered some delicious baked goods from Fire Island but needed some coffee…read moreto wash it all down. The plants are a gorgeous aesthetic but it feels almost like they need to pick a category. If they're selling more plants than coffee, I would lean away from coffee, but if they're as busy selling and making latte's as I saw a queue for, then they need to probably make room for more customers/espresso machines. The wait (in the height of a rush during early July) was close to 15 minutes. I didn't mind and the latte I had was freaking delicious, but it was a wild wait considering there is (but one couch) no place to sit where they make things. Would still return. Loved the tastes!

If you want to try some of the teas they sell in the shop before purchasing, they do have some available in the cafe. Though, buyer beware, I thought they'd sell locals only merchandise, like the other shops, but I saw some items from CA.

I was recommended this place for tea and donuts. The sandwich, bagel, and soup offerings were a little sad and left a lot to be desired unfortunately. They're not fresh and they were just in a to-go case, and if we had time before our next activity we would have gone someplace else. We each got a sandwich (tuna salad, chicken salad) for $7/sandwich and we wished we had just gone to a grocery store which would have been better and cheaper. The fireweed donuts, which are apparently popular, was a pretty pink but just tasted like sugar. The samovar donut was a little better and had a flavor other than sugar, but didn't taste particularly fresh. I think the only thing worth getting was the samovar tea, which is what they're known for. The most prominent flavor to me was cinnamon so if you don't like that you could skip this entirely. The bathroom was also out of order the day I went this week.
