I brought in a suit jacket, pants and three shirts to be cleaned. The jacket and the pants each had a button that looked like it might be coming loose. I asked if they could tighten the buttons. This is something that I have experienced in my many years as a cleaners customer to be a complimentary service that every other cleaners that I have used has provided. When I picked up my order, I was charged almost $50.00 ($49.50). That seemed like an awful lot for such a small order. I looked at the receipt and there was a charge for $10.00 for the jacket button and $12.00 for the button on the pants, which is ridiculous. I don't know what happened to this place. I reluctantly went to these cleaners because I had been using a different shop for years, and I did not trust this place to remove a Sangria stain soaked in from 2 nights before in my pure white shirt. My husband's Thai silk wedding shirt was, I'll say borrowed for an extended period of time and accumulated all these dirt, oil and other stains. The staff was so nice as I told them what happened. They asked to keep the shirt 2 or 3 days longer to really take care of the staining. They were honest and said they may not be able to remove all the stains. I usually use Yelp and Facebook to select businesses for services I need. I was staying in Burr Ridge for my brother's wedding which was to be Sunday July 31st in Chicago. My family and I flew in from Seattle and arrived on Thursday July 28th. As soon as we arrived and realized I needed my suit pressed, I quickly looked up dry cleaning services in the area and came across Kerkstra's Cleaners who specializes in wedding attire. They had pretty good reviews and a history of over 40 years in the business. I initially called Kerkstra's and was advised if I drop it off soon it would be ready by the wedding date. I had my sister drop off my suit for me at around 11am as I was busy with my newborn daughter. My sister came back with a receipt that stated it would be ready After 5pm Saturday July 30th. Saturday rolls around and I arrive to Kerkstra's close to 6pm. Well they were closed. Hours specifically stated Saturdays till 5pm on their window and closed Sundays. I was stunned and felt hopeless. I quickly got online and located email addresses for the owners, Dick and Janet Kerkstra and sent them an email explaining the situation. I waited for an hour or so and no response. Normal for a Saturday evening. So then I located a residential phone number that did not work and reluctantly found a residential address. In my despair, I drove to that address. Arrived shortly after 8pm and knocked on their door. As awkward as I felt, Mrs Kerkstra greeted me and and then introduced me to Mr Kerkstra. They apologized for the inconvenience and explained the computer software needs to be worked on as it has been printing "pickup after 5pm" when it should be 3pm. They could have easily turned me away or worse since I was bothering them at their place of residence on a Saturday evening. Instead Mr Kerkstra offered to meet me the following morning at 7am to release my suit to me. They apologized again for the inconvenience. Also the clerk printed my phone number on the receipt as area code 630 when my sister gave 206. They would have not been able to reach me. I received a call this morning (July 31st) from Mr Kerkstra at exactly 6:55 am and said my suit was ready and he would wait for me. I was greeted with a smile and a handshake after he had left the door wide open waiting for me so early on his day off. He once again apologized for the inconvenience and the time I spent researching his contact info when I should have been spending time with my family. He also said "obviously no charge for the service" due to the circumstances. The suit was pressed and looked quite sharp, even better than brand new! I also take some responsibility for not knowing their business hours which are plain as day on their store window and never once did Dick or Janet Kerkstra mention that or hold it against me. They took full responsibility and went out of their way to correct the situation. Mr Kerkstra's smile and handshake this morning was enough to make me forget the stress and also compel me to write this review, and I never write reviews. If I ever visit the area again and need dry cleaning services, Kerkstra's Cleaners will be the first and only place I go! :) read more

This is one of the best cleaners I have ever been to. They are very courteous to all the customers, and you can tell they try to remember your name and remember your particular needs for your clothing. Sometimes I forget to say "no pleats please" and they are the ones that remind me! The cleaning and pressing is done really well, only on one occassion did a sweater of mine have creases on the sleeve and they apologized profusely and proceeded to press it for me on the spot, I had it back within a couple of minutes. read more

I will forever be grateful to Kerkstra's Cleaners! I was traveling to Chicago for my sister's wedding and had a major catastrophe. When I arrived, I took my bridesmaid's dress out of my suitcase and found an oil stain that spanned the entire waistline of the dress! Kerkstra's was right next to our hotel so we rushed it over there. They do their cleaning in the morning so they told us they would give us a call the next morning to let us know if they could get it out. At 8 AM sharp, we got a call that said the dress was clean and ready for pick up! He said the stain was most likely from the sewing machine at the alterations place. We picked up the dress and it was in perfect condition! The stain was removed and the dress was perfectly steamed and pressed. Phew! What a relief!
