Custom finishing and materials takes time to put into place and cannot be rushed. Hauptman has been in the business of building for decades and has solid relationships with all of the subcontractors required to build a home. This also attests to the type of builder that Hauptman is. When we had an issue post build with our fireplace, the contractor immediately came out and resolved it for us, replacing the defective part. First class service all the way. When we realized after our roof had been fully shingled that we needed a patio cover/roof for shade, Bill drew up 4 different options for us to choose from and seamlessly attached the sloped patio roof to our existing home structure. It looks like it was part of the original design and not the after thought that it was. Hauptman is a builder that values integrity in everything that they say and do. Their prices are very fair for this locale's market. Bill and team demonstrated a patience working with my needs for handicap features throughout our home and exceeded all of our expectations. Stonestreet Contracting came highly recommended to me by another resident of my apartment building…read more I had three contractors come by and give me bids on renovating an apartment that had not been touched in 30 years - new electrical, new kitchen, sealing of the exterior walls, trim, painting, etc. His price was fair and he didn't nickel and dime me to death about changes, etc. He understood the importance of living in a historical building and that I wanted to modernize but not disappear the past. He celebrated the medallions around each doorway and window and even enhanced them by having new ones made of plaster installed. He has a real sense of design - my coffered ceiling was his answer to the trim above the doorway being slightly off-center which meant that the chandelier was off center as well. It truly makes the apartment and I was thoroughly against it when he suggested it. He added a piece of trim below the window sill of each window because he thought it needed it. Once it was installed the windows do pop and the detail stands out, things I never would have thought of. Steve Stonestreet is always available, always calls you back, texts with you to keep you updated, sends photos and is always thinking about the project and all its idiosyncrasies. I have never met a contractor who works harder and is more thoughtful than Steve. He also is genuinely the nicest guy I have ever met. Every obstacle that came up or blip was handled calmly and with lots of ideas gleaned from years of experience working on big projects and small projects. My project is one of his smaller jobs and I never felt that my space was less important or didn't matter to him. In fact, I feel like I got more time because of the nature of the detail involved.
