On our road trip from Fort Worth, we were researching available places in this area and Little Tracks came up as having one night open!!! We lucked out!! We stayed in Red Fish cabin for the night. Once you reserve and pay for your stay, the owners text you the appropriate information to get in! They're so hospitable. When we walked inside our cabin from our long day of driving, we were greeted with a cozy and clean place! There is a hot shower, shampoo/conditioner, beauty mirror, towel hooks, towels and linens. The kitchen is complete with dinnerware and cutlery, a blender, coffee machine and fridge in case you want to cook any meals. We also spotted a fire pit in the front for making s'mores! If the temps gets too cold or hot outside, there is an ac unit to make your sleep more comfortable. There is a tv mounted in case you have time for watching anything, we didn't though. The trees were gorgeous, showing off their fall colors, and it was so quiet despite being right off I-40! It felt like a night at Grandma's house, safe and snuggly. We recommend staying!

The owners were very pleasant, helpful, (booked with wrong date by accident), and friendly. While I was only there for one evening, I would love to come back for a longer non-business stay. Thanks for the hospitality!

The owner was so nice and easy to do business with! The caretaker of the property was awesome! The house was absolutely magnificent and accomadated us with room to spare. The fire pit was perfect for the little ones when they did their S'mores, the huge grill was perfect for all the burgers and hot dogs, beds were clean and comfortable, kitchen was well stocked with appliances, pots, pans and dishes, and there was so much room to move around. By far the best VRBO we have ever rented. If you have a huge family like ours and you want to visit a gorgeous part of Kentucky, we highly recommend Alvy's Hideaway in Cadiz KY!

Cadiz? I'm in Cadiz, KY? Even though I am Kentucky born and bred, I never thought that I'd write -…read moreor say - that sentence. But, it came to pass that I was meeting up with a group of very special people and we needed a large Kentucky venue to house us. After one of my buddies did some expert sleuthing, we came upon Alvy's Hideaway on scenic Lake Barkely. I've lived in nine different American cities. I've been to many different countries. I would put Kentucky's beauty up against any in the world. It's a geographically gorgeous state and this house will make you think the same. It backs up to a wooded lot with lake access which makes for spectacular sunrises. It also makes for super short commutes for all of your fishing, boating and tubing needs. With a grill, fire pit and swingset, you'll find an abundance of opportunities to spend time outside. If wandering the great outdoors is less your speed than looking at it, the house offers screened-in porches on the main and lower levels. And, let's talk about the house. It sleeps 26. That's not a typo. With eight bedrooms of varying sizes and styles, Alvy's is perfect for reunions, events and other shin digs which require accommodations for a football team-sized roster. In addition to the bedrooms, both levels have spacious common areas and three porches, perfect for private chats or morning solitude with coffee. One of my favorite parts of the house is the industrial-sized tea maker in the kitchen. It's perfectly Southern and was used throughout my group's stay. As much as I like Alvy's, there are some things to get used to. The bedrooms/bathrooms are not all made equally. It's remote. I had to harken back to my Boy Scout days to really get in the groove upon my arrival. While there are other homes around you, the house isn't easily or readily accessible to the interstate. You have to commit to coming here. There's no internet. Leave your laptops at home. You won't be able to use them. Likewise, getting a cell signal in the house was next to impossible. There was a landline at the home but even that was a little touch and go. The lack of viable and accessible communication made me a bit uneasy but I found that if I needed a cell signal, I just needed to walk up the driveway and into the main road (geez, that makes me sound *so* Kentuckian) and the nearby (5-10 minute drive) state campgrounds offers wifi. But, if you're committing to a vacation with friends/family on a gorgeous lake, do you need to be online? I discovered the answer was 'no.'

Our oldest passed in January, and we were so regretful that we didn't take her on more trips with us, even though that isn't always an option. We had a great weekend with our dogs. I fished some on Saturday nearby, my husband relaxed with the dogs and tv. We grilled out, had a campfire, and had a relaxing weekend. Everyone at the few surroundings MF businesses we visited were friendly and helpful. Anyone reading this who has not stayed in these types of cottages/cabins before should known you are getting the "inside" camping experience (which is what we wanted.) It feels a lot like camping, but you have air conditioning, toilet and shower, tv, and other modern conveniences. It's not intended to be a hotel, so make sure to take anything you would use at home like toiletries, things to clean up with after meals, if you are particular about what you cook with or dishes etc., bring what you need. Our cottage was clean, beds had their own linens and were comfortable, and plenty of towels were provided. Other kitchen needs were provided as well. It was a great weekend.

Mid-point of the lake, restaurants/marina/conscience close. I would rather give a 2.5 star rating, however I'm optimistic and rounded up. Pros: location, friendly staff, kids liked the play and games area, plenty of space, comfortable beds. Cons: broken light fixtures/exposed wire, mildewed shower and curtain, mildewed-smelling towels, ants in kitchen and bathroom, melted tv due to its location above fireplace, dead bugs in light fixtures, grimy fans, ripped carpet, several burned out light bulbs. With some regularly scheduled maintenance and cleaning schedule, these issues could be resolved. However we won't be staying there again.

From the moment we arrived, we were wowed--the photos online simply do not do this place justice! The cabin is even more spacious and beautiful in person, making it perfect for a couple's retreat. The price was very reasonable--comparable to an average hotel--but with so much more to offer. Unlike a typical hotel room, this cozy cabin provided ample space, privacy, and unbeatable amenities. Nestled deep in the woods, the cabin offers complete seclusion, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. We especially loved the private hot tub on the back deck, where we could unwind while surrounded by nature. The cabin itself is beautifully designed with a full kitchen and bathroom, a spacious living room, a charming breakfast table for two, and a cozy lofted bedroom. The wraparound wooden deck features additional seating, a hammock, an outdoor dining area, and a fire pit--ideal for relaxing under the stars. One of the most refreshing aspects of our stay was the "unplugged" experience--no TV, no WiFi, and minimal cell service. It truly allowed us to disconnect from distractions and focus on each other. The location is fantastic, just a short drive from Loretta Lynn's Ranch and a variety of restaurants in Hurricane Mills, McEwen, and Dickson (TN). It's an excellent base for exploring, but honestly, we were so content in the cabin that we barely wanted to leave! We chose this retreat as a romantic getaway, and it exceeded all expectations. If you're looking for a place that fosters peace, intimacy, and relaxation, this is it. The staff was exceptionally kind and accommodating, and the host was both thoughtful and communicative, ensuring our stay was smooth and enjoyable. Everything was spotlessly clean and well-prepared upon our arrival. If I had to name the worst part, it would be leaving. Two nights simply weren't enough--we could have happily stayed for a week or more. With Rock 'n Refuge being just two hours from our home in Kentucky, we're already planning our return. I think we've just found our new favorite getaway! Book yours, tell 'em Gary and Annjeana with Not So Random sent ya! #bestgetaway #tennessee
