From my first step into the office for my consultation to my latest checkup and cleaning, every person Dr. Molayem has on staff, and Dr. Molayem herself, cares about their patients. I'd gone in because I had been having awful pain in my face and was scared I needed some kind of root canal "or something". Within minutes, Dr. Molayem told me I had TMJ. At this point I had been experiencing a whole host of issues (facial pain, tingling, migraines, neck pain, tinnitus, etc) and had been to a GP, optometrist and ENT, making no progress along the way. As soon as she explained to me what I was experiencing, I felt so foolish! The pain was totally coming from the area she said. The recommendation she had was to do Invisalign, to relieve crowding in my teeth and lessen pressure I was feeling. The quote was over 4k, but after 2 years of near constant pain and debilitating symptoms, I charged it to my HSA and hoped I'd see some improvements. A year later, I can tell you that the cost, cleanings, fittings, adjustments, and follow ups have been worth it. The aligners mostly only caused minor discomfort and the results were obvious even before my alignment was complete. I'm wearing retainers now, still working down to the minimum time needed to keep my alignment in check, but my symptoms have reduced significantly, by at least 80%. Dr. Molayem's manner with her patients is caring, informative, and patient. Every time I see her or any of her staff, I know I am in good hands. Thank you everyone at Pasadena Smile Center! The quality of care in my experience is not consistent. The first time I had a dental cleaning it…read morewas lovely and the hygienist took their time, was thorough and gentle, and overall wonderful. The second time I went in, they were delayed starting as no one was at the front desk and then I proceeded to have the worst dental care experience. The hygienist spent time fiddling with the music and volume, cited the wrong side of the mouth they were about to clean (it was a deep cleaning so divided into two sessions) and had to correct them. They were actively hurting me and grabbing the side of my cheek several times throughout the process. I asked them to pause several times during the cleaning. At the initial numbing injection, I had never felt pain like that during a dental procedure and when I flinches, they just gripped my cheek harder and pushed the needle quicker. As this was my second cleaning with them, it was a total 180 degree experience to the one I had the first time with a different hygienist. This cleaning was also done far quicker than the first one. In retrospect, I should have left before the procedure started when the hygienist was indicating they were not prepared. I have empathy that everyone has a bad day, but when it involves medical care, it is different when physical harm and emotional harm is being done. I spoke to the receptionist after when I was in shock and they were very empathetic but said this hygienist had been with them a long time and was rated positively. I emailed the company through their website later and never received a response. When they texted me later to schedule a follow up appointment I expressed that I was not going to continue as I had such a horrible experience. They apologized and said they would not schedule me with the same hygienist. I was disappointed the company did not reach out to me after my email regarding my experience.

I have been…read moregoing to Dr. Vick for a handful of years now and I have to say, he is very gentle and competent. Never does he try to upsell me on unnecessary procedures or items like "mouth guards", "deep cleaning" and all the other crap that dental offices are notorious for. Some years ago, when I developed some cavities, he administered the most pain-free shots I have ever had. I had gone through a lot of trauma with other dental offices, both in procedures as well as financial abuse. So I was very skeptical and afraid when seeing him. He took his time explaining and slowly eased the shots into my mouth after taking his time to wait for the numbing gel to take effect. He treated me in a dignified manner, explaining as he was very slowly and gently easing the shots into my flesh. It felt like a slight pinch, but there was absolutely NO PAIN. I couldn't believe it. So I knew he was my long-term dentist. Now, I just come in for basic cleanings every six months. However, I do follow his directions in brushing my teeth at least 2 times a day and flossing once or twice a day. I also watch my diet, and keep an eye on sweets and alcohol, which can definitely cause cavities to form much easier. The dental tech, I believe his name is James Joseph or Joseph James is a nice guy too. (I cannot speak on the other dental techs and I'm not sure they are as gentle so just ask for Joeseph James when you decide to go to Dr. Vick's office.) Very gentle with my mouth and teeth when he does the cleanings and no one ever tries to upsell me on anything. Ever. (A lot of dental outfits try to rip you off and will put you through all kinds of torture procedures just to pad the bill and line their pockets. This is especially the case with commercial dental chains) Dr. Vick is a locally owned business. And that's really the key to finding the right dentist. A dentist who depends on his reputation will be more motivated to do right by you than a commercial dental chain. (The worst of the worst are Premier Care Dental and Liberty in my experience.) Ladies, if you are looking for a qualified and compassionate dentist for you and your children & family, take a look at Dr. Vick. My experience has proven to be very positive. The gentle and compassionate way he treated me leaves no doubt that he is definitely going to help the little ones be at ease when they come for their dental health. I can completely relax in the dental chair when I get there. In fact, I see it as part of my self-care program and have come to enjoy going to the dentist. I'd never in a million years thought that I would say that I like going to the dentist. Unheard of. But it's true in my case. Guys, if you're afraid of going to the dentist and you've held off going for a long time, like I have in years before, check out Dr. Vick's office. (I held off going to any dentists for decades, because of past trauma with dental offices.) I know we guys secretly are much less courageous than the women in our lives about taking care of ourselves, especially when it comes to certain medical/health procedures like dental health, but I do highly recommend Dr. Vick. You have to get it done, so why not go to a dentist that will be kind and gentle, and has integrity? PS. If you have to pay out of pocket for something, Dr Vick's office lets you do payment plans that can work for you. I have done that once and they were very nice and helpful in letting me do a payment plan that was a win-win.

I pulled up my call log to show that I did speak to someone in the office a month ago. Without skipping a beat, she worked me in. I filled out some forms and she looked up my dental insurance, which seemed easy peasy for her to do. Despite the initial disappointment of not being properly scheduled, I had a great experience with my X-rays and exam. The office vibe is relaxed and friendly. Although it was busy, Dr. Azarbal maintained a very pleasant disposition and I could hear him asking other patients if they were comfortable. He is very friendly, easy to talk to, and he's an attentive listener. He thoroughly explained what was going on with my teeth. Even though the office was shutting down for the day (remember they worked me in), he took his time to give me dental "mini-lessons" with enthusiasm. He and his staff were very courteous and attentive to my needs, and they always checked to be sure I was comfortable. We have a treatment plan and my next few appointments are booked. I called my insurance and got a pre-authorized for the work. Normally all I have to do is ask them do ask for it. Second time they lost my appointment and then gave me an appointment for an hour later. Just make sure you have all your paperwork together with them. They will not see you until you fill out everything and sign. Update: Third time, time was a little better. I was taken care of and let's see how the tooth is. My cleanings from other hygienists over the years have been good and I thought that I was getting a thorough cleaning until today. Today's cleaning by Ana was excellent!!! She was kind, thoughtful and extremely thorough. This was the best dental cleaning that I have ever had and will definitely want to be treated by her on my next appointment.
