Makes you feel like you really are entering a very special place. Like you are entering a place that is kept a secret. The station actually feels like a ride platform at an amusement park rather than for public transit. I mean, that makes sense, seeing how the same type of monorail was used at Disney. The novelty of this platform makes it feel almost like a movie set. Like the other end of this system. Trains run frequently and consistently. If you hit it between runs, you might have a longer wait, and the platform may feel up with more people. Once on the train, just sit back and enjoy the ride.

It has 2 stations total and was never meant to be actual transit. After our visit to the Space Needle, my partner and I took this 1.2-mile elevated train system and got off Westlake for our next attraction, Pike Public Market. It saved quite a bit of walking with one-way $4. It is an iconic, historic piece of Seattle and still serves to connect downtown with the Seattle Center 60+ years later.

This station originally spanned Pine Street, but during renovations in 1988 it was moved to the inside of Westlake Center shopping mall. Which means you can access this via the mall or from street level. If you choose street level, be ready for climbing some stairs. Before coming here, I made sure to purchase an Orca card to make transitioning through the stations easier. The trains run frequently and steady. It wasn't long before I arrived at the station and the train arrived. Coming back to the station was much easier than I expected. I ended up exiting through the mall to cut some time off with traversing the streets. Plus it also let me avoid a hill outside.

After lunch we returned to the station to see a familiar looking train in station. We were informed that it was the same train we had arrived on, Cascade #504. It was there because Cascade #517 had killed a trespasser a few miles north of the station and it would be at least an hour before it could leave. The station attendant kept us informed as the situation evolved. Meantime, we talked to other waiting passengers and used the very clean restrooms. Finally, Cascade #504 departed. A few minutes later Cascade #517 arrived and most of the passengers in the station boarded the train. About 15 minutes later, Cascade #507 arrived on Track 2 forcing us to walk to the nearby intersection, cross the tracks, and walk back to the train. We departed Tacoma over an hour late. Overall we were satisfied with our experience at the Tacoma Dome Station. Footnote: the equipment used on both trains was badly in need of upgrades.

Well, it smelled like drugs when I was finally able to access the bathroom 20 minutes after I showed up. So how was this handled? The bus driver I told to wait had to call security because I kicked the bathroom stall to get the drud addict out. Lucky for me he didn't leave. And the security that came didn't hassle me for doing what I needed to to use the facilities. If you're looking into work with a commute and it involves this bus line. It's not worth the savings. In my opinion you could get stabbed and they wouldn't care.

From homeless people strung out on drugs, to people approaching you for money, in broad day light around 3 pm, there is a lot of police activity that makes me alert during my daily commute. The morning commute isn't so bad as most of the working individuals huddle together and the transit station worker is diligent with updates but arriving back to the station is a whole other experience. The other day, all of the sounder trains uptown and downtown were shut down due to somebody abandoning a stolen car on the tracks after a high speed police chase. Scary. Also the other day while waiting for my ride, a random gentleman approached me insisting he'd give me a ride. No thanks - creepy and scary.

There are two smaller restroom buildings, vending machines, designated parking areas per vehicle type, and grassy area(s) with picnic tables. I was running low on water, so I tried two of the water fountains at one of the restroom buildings and found neither worked. Going to the second restroom building, I found working water fountain(s) with water that did not have a funky taste. While typically busy, people utilizing the rest area have tended to be mindful in my experience(s).

They are not required to accommodate, nor do they care about your flight times, you gotta make sure to figure out where you need to be and when. Be aware that it can easily be missed, but it does have a yellow painted wall similar to that used for their pay-to-rent smarte cartes throughout the arrival and departure areas. My experience was a pleasant one. Given that I hadn't been to Seattle, and it was on my bucket list, it came in handy to have somewhere to drop off my carry-on duffel bag while I explored Seattle on my 8 hour layover. It took some research as this baggage storage area was ran by Ken's Baggage prior to 2016. The price was very convenient, for two overhead sized duffel bags it came out to approximately $18 for whole day storage (this was for 2018/01/04), and Smarte Carte Storage is open almost 24 hours, so you can still access your belongings regardless of when you were to pick them up. However, I do not know if you can add to/access your belongings inbetween drop off and pick up... that would be a good thing to know. The employees were pleasant and patient. Unfortunately, I do not recall the name of the lady who helped store our luggage as we were in a hurry, but Bernard helped us retrieve our luggage.. we also got to see what the storage area looked like in the back, and it is very well organized. They even had a refrigerated area, I'm guessing for any ice boxes carrying any fish/seafood that was caught to be flown out, which was unexpected but I'm sure helpful in many cases. Would I return? Most definitely. I'll be sure to post current pricing as of my visit (2018.01.04) for those that are also searching for a place to store luggage/belongings during a long layover at SEA-TAC. --/ One for ME, YELP for YOU. @sandyexplores
