Where families grow stronger together I have been playing basketball for decades so I have been in and belonged to many different Y's. Some were absolute cesspools that had some great, competitive hoop players but nothing else. Other were ancient and dirty places where you had to carry your stuff around with you, because no matter how large your lock, someone was going to cut it while you were away. Others places had people quite literally flashing guns or other weapons. Quite an sundry assortment of facilities. Fortunately the Y of Kent County is one of the friendliest, cleanest and most family oriented Y I have every been in. Lots of family programs for infants, youths and teens that include everything from gymnastics, crafts, indoor soccer, martial arts, dance and of course aquatics. A nice way to keep your delinquent from getting too doughy. For adults the Y offers lots of aerobic, dance and exercise classes, a nice pool, free weights and some nicely maintained exercise equipment and machines. Of course they also have a decent gym that that has pick up basketball going at times. Not the most competitive hoops, but nice friendly games with few fights. Of course there are some negatives. The parking lot is rather small and can be difficult to find a spot at times. The locker room and showers aren't especially spacious or nice. Sometimes the exercise equipment are all being used, especially during certain classes. All those great programs means that there usually are a lot of kids running around, although the staff does do a great job keeping them where they are suppose to be. One of the most annoying problems are cell phones. Even though there are signs everywhere with "No Cell Phones!", it seems a large portion of people ignore the signs and either stand in the way of sit on the machines while on the phone. I've seen people take a call while on a machine and simply put a towel or magazine on the equipment while they go off and prattle on the cell. The Y has a lot of different membership rates but can be a bit on the expensive side if you just join as an individual. The Y really becomes a bargain when you bring some kids or other family members with you. A cool place to have some fun, get some exercise and help keep the fleshiness at bay.

From the moment we enrolled, it was clear that this preschool was dedicated to fostering a nurturing and engaging environment for young learners. Miss Sherri stands out as a beacon of positivity and creativity. Her passion for teaching is evident in the way she interacts with the children, making each lesson an exciting adventure. She has a unique ability to connect with her students, igniting their curiosity and encouraging them to explore the world around them. Under her guidance, my child has developed a love for learning that I know will last a lifetime. The curriculum at Family Tree is thoughtfully designed to prepare children for the next stage of their education, particularly in our case, for private kindergarten. The entire staff incorporates a blend of structured activities and play-based learning, allowing kids to grasp foundational concepts in literacy, math, and social skills. My child has not only progressed academically but has also gained essential skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and self-confidence. I am truly grateful for the experiences my child has had at this preschool and the invaluable lessons learned from Miss Sherri, Miss Angela and Miss Erica, as well as all of the teachers we have come in contact with. Their dedication and enthusiasm have made a lasting impression, and I feel confident that my child is more than ready for the challenges of kindergarten. If you're looking for a preschool that prioritizes both education and emotional growth, I wholeheartedly recommend Family Tree Learning Center! You will not be disappointed, please know we drive almost two hours round trip, as we live in Cumberland. It was well worth it.

We could not have been more quick to place our now 3 year old here. They felt like family. He transitioned from the older toddler to early pre-k about 2 months ago and all of the staff were so kind and helpful during this transition. I do not have one single complaint over the last year. Both my son and I love his teachers so much. They are so loving and caring. I would recommend this school to everyone I know. They are so much like our family, I feel safe dropping him off and he comes home so happy everyday. I couldn't be more grateful and happy with my decision to have him attend their school. We wouldn't change it for the world!

We have been with Cadence Academy back when it was known as The Children's Workshop and have been with the Cranston location since 2016. As a single parent, child care - reliable childcare- is a huge component to making things work. Cadence Academy - Cranston is part of my village helping me raise my kids. The staff are extended family who love and support my two kids as such. The classrooms are super clean, bright, fun, really well decorated, safe, and well balanced when it comes to student-teacher ratio. They provide yummy breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks to the kids (even vegetarian options) included in the cost of tuition. Summer camp is very fun and pre-covid lots of entertainment was provided for the kids such as Kona ice on Fridays, Kid Bus, and friends from the zoo coming to teach the kids about animals. Daycare during covid was initially scary but there is no other place I trust to not only watch my kids while I work, but assist with distance learning than the staff at Cadence. As a response to Cranston's learning model this year, Cadence opened a beautiful classroom allowing for virtual learning. Each classroom has a "pod" system so if one person is exposed to Covid, that pod is closed down as opposed to the whole building. My second grader follows the hybrid schedule which means he goes to in-person school two days a week and three days at cadence. His grades haven't been significantly affected by this schedule and his IEP is supported by the staff. Overall, I would highly welcome those who are searching for quality, professional, friendly, reliable, and overall safe childcare to look into the Cranston location. My kids are 8 and 5 and I plan on having them there until they age out. Best of luck on your search!

Not only are the Director and staff great, the parents and children are also a pleasure. It's always a plus when parent-teacher communication is open and they appreciate and welcome any feedback from the parents. Any time there have been issues during the day with my child, or I have had any concerns, I received updates from the school and was able to call or email the school and would receive a prompt response. In addition, their curriculum from pre-school age up to school-age is phenomenal! For school age, they separate the kids that have homework and it gives the kids time to do their homework so that you don't have to go crazy when you go home! During the year they hold parent nights where the children can hang out and the parents can do their own thing for a few hours, and also invite parents in for celebrations as well! During the summers the program packs it with so many activities from visiting local pools and beaches to going to museums and parks! The Children's Workshop really keeps my mind and heart at ease while I am at work and they're almost always open!

This happened at Stork's Nest Child Academy in Smithfield. My daughter absolutely loved her teachers Miss Victoria and Miss Jessica! Ms. Lori and Ms. Michele took such good care of my son, I truly feel I could not repay them for piece of mind they gave me. After moving out of state, and now experiencing other daycare, I truly can appreciate how wonderful of a place storks Nest is! The teachers continually work each day in the same classroom so that the children see the same faces each day. They can tell you exactly how your child's day went from start to finish because they pay such great attention to the children in their class. My son came home with new words, songs and signs language daily (started daycare at 7 months, left storks nest at 19 months). Nothing in our new state has even compared to the care we got at Storks Nests!

We are so taken care of here, our feedback is frequently requested.  Any questions I've had, are answered within hours - day or night.  And I have to give Jamie, the Director, major props because not only is she cool, calm, and collected with great communication skills, but she's also fashionable, stunning, and super funny. In addition to the amazing employees and the beautiful and bright space, this is a quick list of what I love so much about A Child's University: *It is accredited - It is extremely difficult to achieve and maintain academic accreditation.  It shows in all levels of the education. Yes, even my 11 month old had a daily curriculum they follow including themes, art projects, science, math, and health/motor skills. *Daily art projects.  Yep, even in the baby room, they do art! *They exceed the state's teacher ratio standards by staffing more educators in each room than the state requires.  Full time educators have their degree. *It's clean.   *They play music entering and leaving the building, and in the baby room. *They use an app that sends push notifications so I know the minute my son goes down for a nap, has a wet diaper, and how much of his lunch he ate (or threw on the floor as the case may be). *They send several pictures daily and have a live stream camera. *They have a nurse on staff daily. *The staff is so loved, and in return they shower our babies with love.  It makes me smile to see all of the love notes and gifts that the teachers received.
