I booked an Uber...it was taking forever and eventually I got the message that drivers were BUSY try later. It's a SMALL TOWN. (:-) SOOOO Holiday Market DELI to the rescue. They make subs to order on several breads. It's a similar system to Subway EXCEPT HERE at Holiday they are NOT stingy with black olives and other goodies. They even have GOOD SPROUTS. We arrived at peak lunch and there were only 2 people ahead of us. OUR SANDWICHES WERE EXCELLENT and BIG. My husband ate all of his but I only had room for half. This was our first meal of the day and we were very hungry. Sandwiches come with free drinks. It was $18 for both of us. The market seems to deserve its great reviews. My compliments to management for hiring friendly employees and encouraging them to give off a HAPPY VIBE. Aisles are wide. It feels great in the store. It's clean. The whole market gives off a higher end market impression. Very pleasant. And some YUMMY GOODIES if you just need snacks. If management wanted to add one simple thing for us Tesla shoppers eating from the Deli, it would be a couple picnic tables with colorful umbrellas outside along the wall we walk back to the chargers. That would be pretty nice so we wouldn't need to eat in our cars. (:-) But even without it's an awesome Tesla charging stop. If you find this review useful please VOTE!

The store was very clean AND ORGANIZED! The aisles were clean and well kept. The restroom was very clean and easily accessible. A lot of places have them at the very back corner. That makes it hard to find. The parking lot, was just as huge as the store. And it was very clean as well. The Walmarts that I usually go to have trash everywhere. Not here. But the most important aspect of the store in my opinion, was the customer service. I stopped and spoke to AT LEAST four different employees. EVERY SINGLE ONE was friendly and helpful. They told me where something was and then showed me the way. They had a great attitude and a smile on their faces. I was amazed at their hospitable and friendly attitudes. I live in Sacramento but would be tempted to drive the FIVE HOURS to this Walmart just because it was a GREAT Experience. I did not take any pictures because I thought it was going to be a quick stop. But I really enjoyed doing my shopping at this store. Even if I only bought two items and spent less than $8. Thank you Walmart for restoring my faith in good customer service at Walmart .

I have bought their cooked shrimpcto eat that night and twice it was rotten. The produce is not always great. The limes I just bought were dry. I needed three to get an ounce of juice. Then I spend 10 minutes logging into their app to get 2 dollars off a jar of pasta sauce. A saving grace is one time a woman working produce ask me if I needed help while I was logging in to get a digital coupon for a pineapple. She put a sticker on it with the sale price so I could move one with my day. It can be that easy.

First thing first - refuel our gas tank. I used my sister's Fred Myer loyalty membership # to get a discount on gas. I think we saved three cents a gallon. The second time we didn't provide the number as it wasn't a big savings. In Oregon they have gas attendants to pump your gas. Years ago hubby got out of the car to pump gas and the attendant knew right away we were from California where we pump our own gas. Fred Myer is a like a Target, but on a larger scale. They sell clothes, garden supplies, household goods, food, bakery, deli etc. Their store layout is kind of weird. It's one floor. It looks more like an office building than a store at first glance. We saved $18 in groceries using my sister's Fred Myer loyalty membership #. The best edible was the Angel food cake found in the bakery department. I wished our local supermarket could replicate it.

Have you ever heard of the small northeastern California community of Davis Creek? No, it's not…read moreexactly a "world class" destination, and most travelers on U.S. Highway 395 probably just whiz on through, and don't give the community a second thought. However, if you love good food, and you're a lover of rural, eastern California roadhouses, and local hospitality, the Davis Creek Mercantile should be on your must-stop-at list. My visit actually took place last summer, on a "Taco Tuesday," and I'm just getting around to posting it here on Yelp. Davis Creek Mercantile is a combination store, gas station, post office and restaurant. The community of Davis Creek is located in extreme northeastern California, and has a population of around 100. It could be said that Davis Creek Mercantile is the center attraction in town. As you enter the building, you have to walk through the general store, as the restaurant is located in the extreme rear of the restaurant. There are tables in the store for your dining pleasure. By the way, the store stocks a variety of nearly everything, to keep the local residents supplied. It's quite a drive to Lakeview or Alturas, especially during the winter. The restaurant doesn't have a printed menu, and customarily offers only one dish at each serving. Today was "Taco Thursday," and every one of the local California Highway Patrol officers had managed to take their lunch at Davis Creek Mercantile. Trust law enforcement to know good restaurants! These officers were very happy and jovial, and when I mentioned to them that I was a visitor, they told me that I had hit the jackpot, as today was "Taco Thursday" and I was going to enjoy great tacos at a bargain price. They also said this was the best restaurant between Lakeview, Oregon, and Alturas, 25 miles to the south. These guys should know, as they're out every day, keeping the roads, and Modoc County safe. Sounds good to me! I was greeted by John, the friendly chef in the open kitchen. Today's offering for lunch was tacos, along with rice. The restaurant is very informal, as you request how many tacos you want, and you're given your plate of tacos, with meat, and then you add your choice of condiments from the wide assortment. You get your choice of flour or corn tortillas. Naturally, I chose corn. I received my plate with two corn tortillas, piled high with meat - seasoned ground beef - and a generous helping of rice. Now it was time to add garnishes from the wide array, which included shredded cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, peppers, chives, cilantro, olives, bacon... yes, BACON, fresh salsa, and more. You're free to pile on as many garnishes as your heart desires. I enjoyed an amazing lunch of tacos and rice for only $3.75! Not only was the lunch delicious, but at that price, it was the "Bargain of the Century!" No wonder Davis Creek Mercantile is a favor with local law enforcement! Considering the quality and quantity of the lunch, and the bargain-basement price, it's worth a drive from Anywhere, U.S.A. to enjoy a wonderful lunch at Davis Creek Mercantile. Today for lunch, the restaurant was serving tacos, but the menu varies from day to day, and from hour to hour, depending on what they have on hand, the mood of management, and the taste of the locals, and knowledgeable travelers on the highway. Barbecue for dinner is a frequent occurrence, especially on weekends, when the weather is good. They fire up the wood-stoked smoker/grill, and grill steak, ribs, chicken, sausage and more, outside the restaurant. Note to self: Stop by during a summer evening to enjoy some barbecue. This amazing restaurant is a favorite of law enforcement, local residents, truckers, and travelers on the highway. I'm not a local, but you can consider Davis Creek Mercantile to be a favorite northeastern California restaurant of mine. After you enjoy your delicious meal, you walk up to the cash register where friendly Mia greets you with a smile. Davis Creek is very rural, and everything is on the "honor system" so you simply tell her what you had for lunch and pay for it. As I mentioned, my hearty and delicious lunch came to only $3.75, so I popped her a $5.00, added a $1.00, told her to keep the change, and wished her a pleasant Tuesday afternoon. I've always felt that the locals know best when it comes to restaurants, and when you see every California Highway Patrol vehicle for miles around parked at the same place for lunch, you know you've hit the jackpot. Such is the way it is at Davis Creek Mercantile. The tacos are amazing, you can't beat the price, the quality, quantity, and the vast array of condiments. Take a tip from truckers, locals, and law enforcement personnel, and stop by Davis Creek Mercantile, and enjoy some mouth-watering Davis Creek cuisine!
