I consider Buffalo wings to be one of my favorite foods, so when someone declares this place to be one of the best wings in town, I had to find out for myself. Frankie's set-up is like the typical wings diner: homey and pleasantly cluttered. I had the garlic parmesan as recommended by the waiter, and the Frankie's Classic Buffalo. As it was the one flavor that took the restaurant's name as its title, the Frankie's classic was definitely the better order of the two. Everything I've been hearing about the place was right; this might be the best Buffalo wings place in the city! The Frankie's classic is a masterpiece, I don't know how many kinds of Buffalo wings I've tried in my life, but this time I think I've found the perfect original no frills wings.

Going further, some places would inevitably prepare the dish better than most. To me, this is Frankie's New York Buffalo Wings. I usually head to Frankie's after a night run. This could get as late as midnight. The place is open until 2 am, and by this time the horrible parking situation at the City Golf Compound would already be more manageable. (Of course, provided it's a not a weekend.) I always get the Classic Buffalo (spicy) with blue cheese dip, and ask for more blue cheese dips. (They charge extra). I like the chicken because of the way the skin has been cooked to a crisp, all the while keeping the meat rather tender; I think it's breaded. The sauce is spicy yet with just the right bite, meaning there is a dimension to the flavor and not just plain crazy-fiery. Like, I can still taste the butter and the vinegar all coming nicely together with the one-two punch of the hot sauce. Oh-yeah! The best part is you don't even have to worry about getting your hands dirty because they give away disposable gloves. To be honest, I don't really use it since I am used to working with utensils in dissecting my chicken, but I just think it's rather thoughtful of them. As my personal motto goes: it's the useless stuff that builds character.

Fresh chicken is cooked to order, so there's a little bit of a wait; but it's worth it for piping hot, crispy, juicy chicken. When we walked in, there was a large group of loud college students in the dining room. I looked at hubby and we were contemplating on walking out. I happened to notice that one of the waitresses was coming out of a small hallway holding a bill. Wait a minute.... there is another dining area past the bathrooms. There are semi-private and private rooms available; but since there were only two of us, we sat in the semi-private room. WE ORDERED: - Ramyun mild - the noodles reminded me of instant noodles. They were ok but tasted better after adding a little kimchi. - 1/2 order Sweet & Spicy Chicken - my favorite flavor here. It was served hot and crispy with a spicy sweet caramelized glaze: finger lickin good! - Complimentary banchan - Fresh and crunchy, perfect compliment to the chicken. The wait staff can't see you if you're in the semi and private room away from the main dining area, they rely on you to push that call button that's located at the end of your table. I appreciate that they come quickly; but you can also stop any of the wait staff passing by, even if they're not your primary waiter/tress. Your can never go wrong with CHICKEN WANGS!!!

This was a while ago, and so many other restaurants around it have come and gone, but it has proven to have what it takes to be yet another Katipunan institution. Being students, clearly we worked around a tight budget. Flaming Wings always did the trick for us, because you got more than what your money would normally get you. A favorite, for example, is their Chicken Tenders Meal, which includes strips of buffalo chicken tenders (your choice of Original, Mind n' Sweet, Smokey BBQ, Wild, Caribbean Jerk, or Oriental Zing -- I always go for Original), dip (your choice of Bleu Cheese, Wasabi Mayo, Balsamic Mayo, Ranch, Honey Mustard, or Aioli -- I always get Bleu Cheese), a cup of rice, and a drink (your choice: iced tea, lemonade, or bottled water). All for P130. It used to be cheaper, but I'm not complaining about its present price. Here's a tip: Ask your server for some of the sauce (not dip) on the side. There's a little extra cost, but if you love sour buffalo wings sauces like I do, it is such a thrill. A cheap thrill, but a thrill. Their chicken aside, a Super-Stuffed Pork Chop, which goes for only P190, is also a worthy meal... or an adversary, depending on your appetite. The serving is as big as the plate, which leaves little room for movement, but so much bang for your buck.

Back in college, this became our hangout and lunch place because they serve different food other than what fast food chains serve and also their food prices are budget friendly especially that most of their market are students. When I graduated from college, I missed their buffalo wings that's why I got excited when they opened a branch in Katipunan--the other side of Taft Avenue. Though I don't really come back for their wings, I come back for their wicked oreos. I fell in love with it even though I really don't eat oreos (yes, please feel free to judge). The only thing that I don't like is that Katipunan is so jam-packed and its not easy to find a parking slot so better come in earlier preferably on weekends to avoid the hassle.

The place is the cozy, laid-back with walls covered in beach photos & actual surfboards. The only thing missing is the chill-out or beach house tunes to go with your meal. For first timers, I suggest you order their half pound wings (4-5 pieces) so that you can try more than one flavor. The prices will vary to the flavors you choose. Of couse, you should try their Sunrise Original (Php175, 3.82USD for half pound). If you like it super spicy, go try their Ultimate Crazy Hot (Php245, 5.35USD for half pound). The most popular flavor is the Jack Daniels (Php245, 5.35USD for half pound)! Just imagine crispy wings with the sweetness of Jack Daniel's whiskey. Yum! :D I recommend the Black Peppered (Php175, 3.82USD for half pound) and the Smokin' BBQ (Php165, 3.60USD for half pound). Oh, they also have a wide selection of beers! You can wash those wings down with a selection of different beers, or try their peach house blend iced tea. They've also got some seriously thick milkshakes for the days when you decide to throw your diet out the window. Found on the ground floor of a small commercial center called Madison Place, parking can be difficult so either come early to grab a slot, prepare to wait or order to take your wings home. I like the beach-y vibe of the place, they've got surfing paraphernalia all over the walls and their TVs are almost always showing surfers and gorgeous beaches around the world.

As a wing person, I'm uber particular with flavor. I think chicken wings are one of the best types of meat to play around with. I mean, there are a ton of flavors you can create to season and coat these babies with. It's all a matter of being creative enough to come up with something just out of the ordinary. And I'm super glad Wingstop has finally brought that to the Philippines. They've got a variety of flavors that some can be considered classic and the remaining to be the edgier flavors. They've got the staples: Hickory Smoked Barbeque, Garlic Parmesan, Lemon and Pepper. And they've also brought in some unusual suspects: Mango Habanero (which is their second spiciest sauce), Cajun, Louisiana Hot and more! They've definitely raised the wings game here in the Philippines! Apart from wings, they also serve chicken balls (which are kind of like the size of nuggets) and chicken tenders. They also serve Chipotle rice - savory rice that perfectly complements your meat. Yum!!! We went there on a Friday night and the place was packed so we had to wait a little before we got a table. The branch in Estancia is quite small compared to their Eastwood branch (I have yet to see their other branches) so seating might be a problem during lunch or dinner. For about two people, it'll probably cost you 600-800 pesos.

I've been frequenting this place for whenever I'm looking for some good grub right after work. Ever since I started working in Shaw, this was our go-to food destination, and one of the restos we favoured was Buffalo Wings and Things. Fortunately, they built up a new shop in Megamall! I usually go to this branch with my friend who is also madly in love with their wings. They've got a bunch of flavors to choose from but my favorites would be their garlic parmesan and hickory barbeque. We partner them with their signature dirty rice and a glass of their top notch iced tea! What I love about their chicken is the flavors. They don't skimp out on seasoning and are very generous with their sauces. Their dirty rice is also really good. It's got a hint of spice to it and it's garnished with a spoonful of diced tomatoes and onions for added flavour. Yum! They are also known for their ridiculously spicy wings. During one of our food trips, we dared a friend of mine to try out their Armageddon wings. I believe it was the second or third spiciest wings they have. He bawled his eyes out by the time he was on his third wing! CRAZY. We needed to get him a glass of milk to help the hit of spice subside. He survived, don't worry! But that's definite proof they take their spicy buffalo wings seriously.

After a road trip to Antipolo, we decided to swing by Crazy Chicken for a quick dinner. The level of heat in this variant is just a smidge over mild, which is perfect for the warm weather we've been having lately. The Cheesy Cheese wings were generously dredged with cheese powder, and delivered that salty umami kick that I was craving for. It may look simple and basic, but looks can be deceiving. The Lemon Pepper wings were a bit timid in terms of flavor, so this would be a good choice for the least adventurous member of your party. Serious foodies might take a pass on this variant. The Asian Sriracha wings were as hot as the weather, which tasted more like hot sauce instead of sriracha. Too spicy hot for me.
