Every dish that Mandi's Grill Grub offers is grilled to perfection, be it pork, beef, chicken, and…read moreeven fish. For our appetizer, we tried the Sisig Surprise - a pleasant surprise! Each small serving is visually appealing already because of the very creamy mashed potatoes that envelope a wonderful surprise: LEAN and grilled sisig! Lean, as in it has no fat, so that's less guilt! The milky smoothness of the mashed potatoes complements the meaty goodness of the sisig. This appetizer is so good, it could very well be a main dish! If you want more meat, then go for their version of the American rib, which is a meaty slab that is at least half a foot long! It's almost like liempo, but much softer, making it a lot easier to slice and enjoy! No need for a knife! Each serving also comes with MGG's fried rice, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes. MGG is also not afraid to experiment, so they came up with a grilled version of the Filipino classic, pork adobo! I thought the pork slices were going to be dry, but no!!! The vinegar-soy sauce marinade very much permeated the meat, making it a highly flavorful dish! There is a separate container for the adobo sauce, but there's a good chance you won't need it for the meat anymore (mix it in your rice instead!). Moreover, the adobo meat is topped with freshly ground garlic (peelings and all) and chives, while the plain rice is topped with a sunny side up egg. Sarap! Another Filipino classic that MGG offers is tapsilog, with of course, grilled beef tapa. Like the adobo, the flavor of the beef is not compromised as it already has a vinegar-y taste that's perfect for tapa! Each beef piece strictly follows a precise measurement, allowing diners to easily eat the thinly sliced meat. This dish comes with scrambled egg, MGG's salsa, and fried rice. We also tried two blue marlin dishes: the pinaputok na blue marlin belly and grilled blue marlin. The former is wrapped in aluminum foil and upon popping it, you'll be greeted by a very delicious smell! It has a very generous amount of MGG's secret sauce, which can be a substitute for soup. I enjoyed eating the pinaputok even without rice, but for me, the real star is the grilled blue marlin. It's simply good. Nothing fancy about it, just a buttery glaze, crushed garlic, and chives. It's thick, huge, and good for sharing, but I know that I could eat an order all by myself haha! It's so delectable that I forgot to take a picture of it (even the pinaputok)! My stomach is growling as I type this - I want to go back to Mandi's ASAP! Oh, and it comes with chili-garlic sauce and calamansi for a spicier and tangier gastronomic experience! But my ultimate favorite at Mandi's is their CRISPY BABY BACK RIBS. They were a surprise to me because I never expected ribs to be coated in anything; di ba usually as is lang sila when cooked? Galing! The ribs are topped with bell peppers, nuts, and very rich, cheesy, and creamy Bechamel sauce (made from scratch!). Ugh, ang sarap - napakamay ako to make simot the ribs! :D On weekends, they have special dishes like ulang (huge frehswater shrimp), shrimp inasal, porkchops, etc. They have also been experimenting on some desserts and other savory treats, so diners can try something new from time to time! Mandi's Grill Grub is located at the ground floor of #73 Bent II (same building as Nail Cottage, Cupcake Bites, and Breakfast Brothers), Lilac St. SSS Village, Concepcion Dos, Marikina. It's a cozy place with American accent pieces like superhero tin signs, old school Kellogs tin cans, and vintage soda signage.

You need to must try their ribs! Their ribs have bechamel sauce that level up the usual meat.read more

Obviously, they offer wings and steaks (try their Porterhouse Steak baby) pero meron din naman silang salad, sandwich, pasta, different sides and some desserts. Hindi pa masyadong malawak (parang hacienda lang eh hahaha) yung menu nila pero basta kumakain ka ng steak at wings (baka lumipad ka teh) solved ka na dito! Limited lang yung parking slots (3 or 4 na sasakyan lang ata) and it's a little bit pricey for me (yung rice around P40-P50 na). But if you're looking for a new place to try with your friends or family, okay naman dito. Hindi lang siya yung pupuntahan ko madalas (price issue) but the taste ng food naman is good!

Upon entering, I was impressed with how the place looks. It's such a stark contrast to its predecessor because of its vibrant vibe and cool decorations. The place is inspired by the movie, "Chef," where the lead character decided to pursue his passion for Cuban cuisine. The walls are adorned with quotes written in chalk, while nostalgic items surround the area, such as old beer bottles, one of the first Nokia phone models, a Nintendo family computer, vinyl records, an analog TV, and other vintage stuff. I also like their cute makeshift lamps! Their menu is written on a long blackboard, and aside from ribs, they also serve wings, some sides, and milkshakes! I was so curious to try the Cubano sandwich, but since we would be eating rice, I told myself, "Next time!" :p A recent addition to their menu is the classic fish and chips, which are actually fries that reminded me of Mcdonald's! Even if they were a bit soggy, they still tasted good. The fish was just ordinary, but unlike the breaded fish of other restaurants, Brad & Pit's breading was light, so I could still taste the actual fish. At P175 per serving, it's quite a good catch (literally and figuratively hehe). I hope they could serve it with tartar sauce, though. Next, we tried their wings. P200 for 6 pairs is a bit pricey for me, but they tasted great! They weren't too spicy nor too oily, and they were served with honey mustard. Brad and Pit's also offers combo meals priced at P149: that's a pair of wings with one side and rice. Whether they're spicy or not, wings go well with milkshakes! Okay, maybe alcoholic drinks are the best partners, but hey, the heat has been unbearable these days, so milkshakes will do! I ordered strawberry, but you can also choose from chocolate and vanilla. Finally, we tried a huge serving (medium) of ribs, aptly called the "Rib Mountain." These babies come in 4 serving options: small, medium, large, and extra large. We were like, "Medium?! Paano pa kaya 'yung extra large - doble nito?!" (Medium? What more if this were the extra large serving - double this size?!) This size is suited for 2-3 people already, and at P385, it's such a steal! Though the meat isn't the fall-off-the-bone kind, the ribs were still flavorful enough. They are best paired with Brad and Pit's specialty rice: cargo and burrito. IT'S SO GOOD! I could eat the rice on its own! :p Brad and Pit's Ribshack is located at 116 Lilac Street, very near the bridge connecting Soliven and Lilac. They are open from 12 noon until 11 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It's a good place to indulge in affordable ribs and chill with your buddies or family!

The rice i just as important and we can confidently say it won't disappoint, usually at this price point rice would be just plain and lame, but here taste is the game. Overall a worthy visit for anyone living nearby. The best stall in Montare that meats your expectations.

Now fast forward to the present (2017) me and my girlfriend have eaten at Qizias for more than 10 times. I will review the food we have tried below in bullet-ed order. (My girlfriend and I only order the same food since when we eat we want to enjoy what we it ) Blueberry Cheesecake - Our favorite when we first went there it costs P100 per slice now its P150, but still I'd gladly pay P150 for a slice of this cake Nachos ( Regular ) - This is one of my personal favorites since I am a nacho lover. The nacho itself is yummy added with hot/newly melted cheese and freshly sliced onions and tomatoes (would definitely recommend you try it) Four Cheese Pizza - I''m not really a fan of this flavor for I cannot really explain its taste and too much cheese made me feel "umay". Beef Salpicao - The beef in this dish is really tender and easy to chew + rich and tasty sauce makes it a great dish Crispy Pork Belly - I have ordered this one more than 3 times and I would still want to eat it. It is served really well, the Pork Belly really is crispy with a side of mango + other vegetable and a good pork belly sauce. (I recommended this dish as a main dish) Overall I really like Cafe Qizia and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. Things to take note: The parking space is limited since it is behind SDS Medical Center. I don't have a car so my girlfriend and I just walk from her place to Qizia. The place use to be small but now the space was efficiently used which can now accommodate more customers, however I suggest you come a few minutes early since there are lots of people eating at Qizia and all seats will easily be occupied.

Naturally, we wanted to taste it, but there wasn't any fried chicken on their menu. Apparently, they call it "honey chicken poppers." Strike one. Strike two, on my first bite, I cringed right away - the piece I ate was TOO SALTY. Same thing with the next few pieces. The honey in it wasn't drizzled or coated on the chicken; it was UNDER the poppers. Strike 3 was when my bf said his piece was too sweet. Actually, even without the honey, I find the breading sweet. Clearly, it is not the best fried chicken or chicken poppers in Marikina. The only thing I liked about this dish is the accompanying dip. Anyway, thankfully the other dishes we ordered tasted much better. We tried the potato soup, and though it is good, I won't order it again because I find it too expensive for its serving size. Our viand was crispy pork belly, which had a really, really nice crunch! Hearing the crunch alone made my boyfriend excited to taste it. We also tried the Daredevil fried rice, which is like the offspring of a bibimbap and Thai rice. It wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, and I really enjoyed the chili garlic in it! It was topped with shredded scrambled egg and pieces of pork. The latter two dishes have a good price-serving ratio and are good for sharing. Lastly, I wish the chef we encountered had could learn some humility and finesse. He was talking to some friends, loud enough for everyone to hear and seemed to be seeking attention. According to him, he already has a speech ready if ever he gets to be interviewed as one of the successful chefs under 35. He also made an analogy of his food using celebrities, basically saying that his dishes are good. Meh. Not the best food, but good enough. If your food is really good, wait for your diners to say so.

The chicken popper is salty as well as the sisig. I even told my friend, salt must be very cheap here. When it comes to serving size, it is small for the price. I can also consider it pricey as the ratio of the price to the serving size has a very big difference. Would I recommend this to my friends? NO.

I consider Buffalo wings to be one of my favorite foods, so when someone declares this place to be one of the best wings in town, I had to find out for myself. Frankie's set-up is like the typical wings diner: homey and pleasantly cluttered. I had the garlic parmesan as recommended by the waiter, and the Frankie's Classic Buffalo. As it was the one flavor that took the restaurant's name as its title, the Frankie's classic was definitely the better order of the two. Everything I've been hearing about the place was right; this might be the best Buffalo wings place in the city! The Frankie's classic is a masterpiece, I don't know how many kinds of Buffalo wings I've tried in my life, but this time I think I've found the perfect original no frills wings.

Going further, some places would inevitably prepare the dish better than most. To me, this is Frankie's New York Buffalo Wings. I usually head to Frankie's after a night run. This could get as late as midnight. The place is open until 2 am, and by this time the horrible parking situation at the City Golf Compound would already be more manageable. (Of course, provided it's a not a weekend.) I always get the Classic Buffalo (spicy) with blue cheese dip, and ask for more blue cheese dips. (They charge extra). I like the chicken because of the way the skin has been cooked to a crisp, all the while keeping the meat rather tender; I think it's breaded. The sauce is spicy yet with just the right bite, meaning there is a dimension to the flavor and not just plain crazy-fiery. Like, I can still taste the butter and the vinegar all coming nicely together with the one-two punch of the hot sauce. Oh-yeah! The best part is you don't even have to worry about getting your hands dirty because they give away disposable gloves. To be honest, I don't really use it since I am used to working with utensils in dissecting my chicken, but I just think it's rather thoughtful of them. As my personal motto goes: it's the useless stuff that builds character.
