Since the place was about a 15 minute walk from my condo, I first tried it on a Sunday at 2 pm. It's a small local restaurant that's open air on a corner. You can place your order in the counter but have to wait to be seated before they will bring your food. I had to wait a good 30 minutes before a table was free for the staff to clean and tell us to take that table. We got the pecho (chicken breast) and garlic rice, and I have to say, it definitely was good. Hot off the charcoal grill, it tasted best when you add the chicken oil to the rice. Chicken was juicy and was the best I had in Manila (I did try other inasal places before I made that final decision) They give you a box of gloves if you want to eat with your hands but will also give you utensils. Overall, it was a great meal that I did come back a week later at 1130 am, it was still packed but got a table that was open so no wait. Never had chicken from Bacolod but this definitely was better than Mang Inasal and Bacolod chicken.

It's enduring popularity can be narrowed into one thing; good, succulent, filling food. I would include the affordable price which, as of the time I write this, is 177php but it really boils down to the food. Why? For the regular two sidedishes and a piece of grilled chicken, World Chicken used to only cost 97 pesos or so. This was a long time ago. Probably 10-12 years by my estimate. Since then it's slowly risen to 177 but through the increasing price, it has never lacked for customers. Customers always walk away full and happy. Every one of their dishes and sauces are consistently tasty and cleanliness has always been an evident priority. The dishes sit above a steamed encasement and there is a glass separation between the customers and the food. Plastic covers keep the food from being contaminated and the servers all wear mouth guards. Most of their sidedishes are starches though, the choices being; four types of pastas, four different rices as well as a macaroni salad and a potato salad and garlic bread and a cheese muffin. So if you're on a diet or you're just not that hungry, you have the option of ordering only one sidedish with your chicken or just the sidedish entirely. Lately, they've also added different chicken meals, the Jerk Chicken and the Chicken Inasal. The two take a little longer to prepare but it's not that long of a wait and personally, I highly recommend the Jerk Chicken. They've also included a few cakes and desserts to their menu. They also do take outs although there is an additional charge because of the eco-friendly starchware containers and utensils they use.

The kare kare was wonderfully flavorful and sweet. There was an abundance of seafood in the dish, from calamari to shrimp. It paired nicely with rice because it was such a strong flavor. Between the 8 of us we finished most of the stew and brothy soups but still had a lot of leftover chicken and rice. We also had a few extra flans because they provide 10 for the table.
