Kim Chee Korean Cuisine is one of many restaurants located in what used to be called S-Mall in…read moreMarikina City. Nearby are St. Scholastica's Academy Marikina and several Pokéstops. We were served the Shrimp Tempura which I thought was good. We also tried the Galbi (beef ribs stew). The meat was adequately slow-cooked and was very tender. The soup that came with the Galbi I found to be bland compared to other Korean-style beef ribs stew I have had many times before. I hear the samgyeopsal was really good, and I wish that the samgyeopsal was served at our table. I would have to plan a return trip to Kim Chee soon.

I've dined here twice already, and here are the dishes that I've already tried: Ramyun: one big bowl of spicy noodles with egg and lots of vegetables! It's good for sharing, but the soup may be too much. I love the texture of the noodles - smooth and chewy! Kimbap: one can choose among 3 variants - ham, tuna, or mixed. I've tried the last one, and it's so good! It has a nice salty taste that goes well with the rice and other fillings! Bibimbap: this is the least one I enjoyed so far... I found the serving size too small for its price, plus the taste is just meh. Not as flavorful as other bibimbap's I've tried. Dakgalbi: BBQ chicken that's so good, my sister ate this more than I did! I'm not a big fan of anything BBQ, but this one has a good balance of sweetness and spiciness, with no little or no hint of bitterness. This already comes with a few pieces of fresh lettuce. Samgyupsal: at P230 or a bit more (I've forgotten exactly how much), this is okay, but knowing that there's another Marikina Korean restaurant that offers unlimited samgyupsal for only P290, I'd rather go to the latter to get my fix. The drinks they have are limited to canned juices and sodas, but they do have in-house cool barley tea, which is simple yet refreshing. End your meal with Korean ice cream; selections include Melona variants, Encho, and Samanco. The place has is also relaxing and is good for groups.

There was a night where my friends and I were having a bad week and we all agreed that there is only one cure: Korean Barbecue! So, it was the perfect time to try this place out. Now, just to manage your expectations, the restaurant is quite dingy and not too clean. But, that is what you expect from any legit Korean restaurant in Manila, right? If you're in need for an ALL-meat grill buffet, this is the place to be. Have a Korean barbecue craving at 2AM? Ba-Be-Q are open until 4AM. Basically, they have all the bases covered for a good Korean meat sweat experience. Banchans are good. You get complimentary Steamed Egg and Pa Muchim (Korean green onion salad). They have 2 options for the buffet: Php 399 is EAYC Boneless Chicken Barbecue (Pinoy style) + Pork Belly; Php599 is EAYC Boneless Chicken, Pork Belly, Beef Belly and Beef Bulgogi. Both buffets include one bowl of rice and soup. In my opinion, go for the Php599 buffet but, just focus on the Beef Belly + Beef Bulgogi. I was not a fan of the Boneless Chicken because it was on the sweet side and took too long to cook. So, by the time it was good to eat, I was too full to eat the chicken. If you just want to feed your meat cravings on a late night with friends (with a bottle of Soju or beer), go here! Absolutely, SULIT! :D

Added plus is they're open till 4AM, so it's perfect for a post drinking babuyan session. We ended up here, because a friend needed some food therapy after a stressful week. We weren't sure whether to choose the P399 Eat all you can with just pork belly and chicken or the P599 option with pork, chicken, beef bacon and beef bulgogi. I am so happy we chose the latter. Soon after ordering, all the food started coming out. While the waiter started grilling our beef bacon, we were busy slurping our miso like but sourer soup. Then came some pickled radish and spicy cucumber slices. My two faves would have to be the steamed egg (so soft and fluffy) and the spicy salad (l cannot stress how much I love this dish. I rejoice whenever they serve it at a Korean restaurant). We liked the beef bacon a lot, but the beef bulgogi was something else. They obviously take their marination very seriously. The pork wasn't bad, but it paled in comparison to the beef. They need to work on their chicken, though. Something about the taste was off. Overall though, this place was absolutely sulit!!! Will definitely be back when I am craving for Korean style meat. P.S. They've got beer and soju too, so cheers!
