Great steaks that won't break the bank. Their salads are pretty good, too. Also don't forget to try the molten lava cake.

The place gets packed so come early! Guess who's coming back here yet again when I make the visit to the Philippines

I first learned bout Cafe Qizia when I was in 4th year highschool near SDS Medical Center. My…read morefriend bought a Blueberry Cheesecake from Qizia worth 900 pesos at that time (2010) and he gave it to one of our female classmate which happens to be his crush; one of the friends of his crush became my girlfriend and she told me how yummy the Blueberry Cheesecake was, so of course we decided to eat there. Now fast forward to the present (2017) me and my girlfriend have eaten at Qizias for more than 10 times. I will review the food we have tried below in bullet-ed order. (My girlfriend and I only order the same food since when we eat we want to enjoy what we it ) Blueberry Cheesecake - Our favorite when we first went there it costs P100 per slice now its P150, but still I'd gladly pay P150 for a slice of this cake Nachos ( Regular ) - This is one of my personal favorites since I am a nacho lover. The nacho itself is yummy added with hot/newly melted cheese and freshly sliced onions and tomatoes (would definitely recommend you try it) Four Cheese Pizza - I''m not really a fan of this flavor for I cannot really explain its taste and too much cheese made me feel "umay". Beef Salpicao - The beef in this dish is really tender and easy to chew + rich and tasty sauce makes it a great dish Crispy Pork Belly - I have ordered this one more than 3 times and I would still want to eat it. It is served really well, the Pork Belly really is crispy with a side of mango + other vegetable and a good pork belly sauce. (I recommended this dish as a main dish) Overall I really like Cafe Qizia and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. Things to take note: The parking space is limited since it is behind SDS Medical Center. I don't have a car so my girlfriend and I just walk from her place to Qizia. The place use to be small but now the space was efficiently used which can now accommodate more customers, however I suggest you come a few minutes early since there are lots of people eating at Qizia and all seats will easily be occupied.

Eastwood is our home base and Denny's is our favorite shop for breakfast. There is no Denny's in the U.S. like Denny's Eastwood!!! Here, it is not a dumpy restaurant like the brand in the U.S. Yes, they are open 24/7, but that's where the similarity ends. The Filipino breakfast entrees are so creative and deliciously cooked. The pastries are also made from local Filipino fruits and root crops. The chefs are mindful of presentation, as if this was a fine dining restaurant. Even the slice of Ube Overload cake is on a black slate slab! It is the only place where we can bring fresh Philippine mangoes and have them sliced open, as the fruit is not on their fruits platter menu. The staff is friendly and quick, and they keep the restaurant clean. Our favorite is the night manager, Kis, a well-poised, always smiling young lady who runs her shift like a tight ship. She is actually in her last weeks of working here due to health reasons. We will miss her when we come back in 2027 and beyond.

But I still do have a social life you know, which is why I'm thankful to have friends who understand when I'm down and broke. When this happens, Chili's is the obvious choice. Not for their great tasting burgers, not for their quesadillas and not even for their mojitos. Chili's is the obvious choice for their unlimited nachos! Unlimited nachos is actually the best thing ever. I remember there was a time when my dinner group of 4 ordered just that and nothing else. We stayed there for more than 3 hours while we happily downed cold water for drinks. Nothing can really get in the way of saving for that adorable bag, so thank god for unlimited nachos. For good old American food, Chili's is always the best choice.

This restaurant also has a nice interior with its Southwestern theme. It's not everyday that you get a taste of Southwestern food here in the Philippines. Everytime I go here for lunch with my friends or family, I end up ordering their bottomless Tostada chips served with their tasty and flavorful house-made salsa. For additional dips, you can pay for their Ranch dressing and Queso. For my main course, I often have their Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which has crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, Swiss cheese, and their to-die-for honey mustard dressing. If you want something sweet after the main course, you can have their Molten Chocolate Cake, which is shaped just like a volcano. A look of this delectably delicious cake would make you drool. It might be a little bit pricey for some of us, but sometimes you have to pay money for good food!

Lilac Street in SSS Village Marikina continues to grow gastronomically as there seems to be a new…read moremunch place every month, and for a foodie like me, I don't mind it at all! :D Anyway, I finally try this Cuban-themed dining place - a far cry from the originally Chinese-themed restaurant that it replaced (East Harbour). Upon entering, I was impressed with how the place looks. It's such a stark contrast to its predecessor because of its vibrant vibe and cool decorations. The place is inspired by the movie, "Chef," where the lead character decided to pursue his passion for Cuban cuisine. The walls are adorned with quotes written in chalk, while nostalgic items surround the area, such as old beer bottles, one of the first Nokia phone models, a Nintendo family computer, vinyl records, an analog TV, and other vintage stuff. I also like their cute makeshift lamps! Their menu is written on a long blackboard, and aside from ribs, they also serve wings, some sides, and milkshakes! I was so curious to try the Cubano sandwich, but since we would be eating rice, I told myself, "Next time!" :p A recent addition to their menu is the classic fish and chips, which are actually fries that reminded me of Mcdonald's! Even if they were a bit soggy, they still tasted good. The fish was just ordinary, but unlike the breaded fish of other restaurants, Brad & Pit's breading was light, so I could still taste the actual fish. At P175 per serving, it's quite a good catch (literally and figuratively hehe). I hope they could serve it with tartar sauce, though. Next, we tried their wings. P200 for 6 pairs is a bit pricey for me, but they tasted great! They weren't too spicy nor too oily, and they were served with honey mustard. Brad and Pit's also offers combo meals priced at P149: that's a pair of wings with one side and rice. Whether they're spicy or not, wings go well with milkshakes! Okay, maybe alcoholic drinks are the best partners, but hey, the heat has been unbearable these days, so milkshakes will do! I ordered strawberry, but you can also choose from chocolate and vanilla. Finally, we tried a huge serving (medium) of ribs, aptly called the "Rib Mountain." These babies come in 4 serving options: small, medium, large, and extra large. We were like, "Medium?! Paano pa kaya 'yung extra large - doble nito?!" (Medium? What more if this were the extra large serving - double this size?!) This size is suited for 2-3 people already, and at P385, it's such a steal! Though the meat isn't the fall-off-the-bone kind, the ribs were still flavorful enough. They are best paired with Brad and Pit's specialty rice: cargo and burrito. IT'S SO GOOD! I could eat the rice on its own! :p Brad and Pit's Ribshack is located at 116 Lilac Street, very near the bridge connecting Soliven and Lilac. They are open from 12 noon until 11 pm from Tuesday to Sunday. It's a good place to indulge in affordable ribs and chill with your buddies or family!

Got hungry, to off to TGI Fridays. First off, there is a diff concept of time here in Philli. The pace, relaxed. So you will have to recalibrate your Americanized concept of time. Eventually ordered ribs. Homemade chips, onion rings. Ribs, freezer burned, so had an off flavor of that quality. Hey, I grew up eating dirt in Mississippi so I'm used to issues of the 3rd world. I powered through. The chips? Cold, but tasted pretty good. Had they came out promptly, would have been great. Onion rings? Geezuss folks, toss out bad onions. These were on edge. Couldn't power through. Each item had an issue. Given most TGI Fridays stateside are 2 - 3 stars, this one doesn't shock me. I knew better. My bad. Oh yes! The music. Huh? Why was the explicit version of stripper/rapper Lotto, "Let me put this P***y on you", loud in the restaurant. I'm not a prude, but this is a family restaurant in a mall. Small kids were present. Hence the 1 star. Service was still stellar. It's the way of everyone here, just danged nice. I ate. On an island where 75% of it's inhabitants struggle, I ate, so a wins a win. I hope all of you are well.
