I have been seeing Dr. Yamada for years now and wanted to let the public know that he is really awesome. I had a great eye doctor years ago, and needed to find a new doctor as that doctor had retired. I selected Dr. Yamada and I am very glad I did so. He is very nice, patient and very easy to talk with. He referred me to get Lasik, and I am so glad I did that and now I enjoy seeing him once a year for my regular check up. Plenty of parking and his staff are very nice also. read more

Jeepers creepers where you get them peepers... Dr. Yamada keeps them peepin' . Dr Y has been keepin' all of our eye in tip top shape for many years. I gotta confess, I've thought about going to get my eyes checked at one of the big box stores. Folks tell me I would save some cash. I am not sure if that's true, but what I do know is Dr. Y knows me and my family. Each time I go to see him it's like we just continue our conversation from the last time - "... so your son is till in Africa..." I like the personal attention. I like it when my doctor is familiar we me and my needs. After all , we're talking about my peepers. Those bad boys are almost at the bottom of the list of body parts I don't mind losing. Dr Y and his staff are all real nice. He know his sh*t, not only about my eyes but also my insurance coverage. After I choose a pair of frames from his collection, he will work with me to max my insurance coverage (legally). His office is located in a large strip mall with plenty of parking so in and out is easy, bam. Next time? I gonna pickup my snazzy new frames. I took my son here because he can't see distance and he can't see close. The doctor recommended reading glasses only and said they were fine for distance also instead of recommending progressive lenses to correct his distance also. I think the doctor gave up because he thought I didn't have insurance for new frames only lenses in his old glasses. I called VSP because the doctor didn't want to take the time to straighten it out and now I'm taking him somewhere else with an authorization from VSP for frames, lenses, and a new eye exam. He just lost my business because he didn't want to take the time to keep it. Meanwhile, had I listened to him and ordered glasses, my son would be suffering with the wrong prescription. read more

When I went they had had waiting outside even though they saw me. They didn't open the door for me then when they finally did they took my temperature and said it was to high so they gave me a couple of seconds and said my temp was to higher. So they couldn't attend me so I went to the doctors and they checked me and everything was fine and I had gotten a note so when I went back they could call my doctor to check that everything was fine. Then I went back and to them and told me that they couldn't take me in since their break was at 1 and they still had more that half an hour before it was 1 so I told them it's not 1 yet. So they called my doctor and told me that my doctor couldn't give them that information they had to call medical records but they're in break so I had to wait until 2. I honestly don't recommend I had to miss school to get checked and they didn't even do any don't let them waste your time like they did mine. read more

They lost my glasses and both office staff lied saying that the glasses were delayed due to needing extra work at the lab. Dr. Yamada finally told me the glasses never made it to the lab. DR. I needed new glasses recently and yelp led me to Dr. Yamada. I highly recommend him- he's chill, does his job, and doesn't try to sell me anything. He'll tell you what are the upgrades for glasses, but won't try to pressure you. In fact, he didn't even care that I wanted to use my old frames. I think other optos will make an excuse that your frame is un-usable in order to try to sell you a new frame (because that's one way for them to make a profit). It's too bad I don't need Dr. Y's services anymore since I'm getting Lasik...but for everyone else looking for an optometrist- make an appt with Dr. Yamada! I just had my first appointment with Dr. Yamada and I thought it was a great experience! My appointment was at 10 and as soon as I filled out the new patient form I was in straight away. There was literally never any waiting time. Dr. Yamada was extremely professional and nice to talk to and I never once felt rushed and he answered all my questions. For some reason, when it came to eye care, I was not faithful as I am with my other doctors. But one day last year, all of a sudden my right eye would not stop tearing up. And it was extremely painful. I stopped in on a Saturday, right before closing, and Dr. Yamada took care of me. He did a thorough exam, sent me off with a prescription and his cell phone in case I had any issues. Because I haven't been all that faithful, I've seen a lot of optometrists. Dr. Yamada is the best optometrist l've ever been to. He is very kind and knowledgeable, answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. He is the only optometrist who run lots of tests to my eyes without extra charge to make sure nothing wrong with them. He even called my insurance himself to see if I'm qualified for a yearly contact lenses. I can tell he really care about his patients. I had to find a new optometrist when the place I've been going to for 10 years does not take the insurance I have with my new job. They recommended Dr. Yamada and I am very pleased. Dr. Kenneth Yamada has been my eye care specialist for about 3 years now and here is an amazing guy and his team is very flexible with my busy schedule. Dr. Yamada saw me as a walk-in to fix my glasses one time and I was extremely grateful! He did not charge me and just tightened my frame. When I was in college I use to go to Lens-crafters and I remember one time they charged me 55.00 to tighten my glasses that I purchased from the less than 3 days ago. Also lens crafters prices are actually more expensive than Dr. Yamada's prices! He has a good selection of glasses and very reasonable/affordable prices. I rather get my glasses through him and all my eye care and know that i am dealing with a man who cares about my well being and he's not just working to get a paycheck like the people who work at Lens crafters in South Bay Galleria. I had to go back almost 5 times for a pair of glasses to be made correctly at lens-crafters... it was a pain in the butt... i am so happy to now be a patient of Dr. Yamada's! read more

Dr. Kenneth yamada is very helpful when it comes to eye care. I accidentally found him because 24 hours fitness is next door and I just moved to Redondo beach. He remembers your name, occupation, family matters, and almost anything you talk to him about. He's very personable and easy to get along with and very patient, especially if you or your kid is trying on contacts for the first time. Some kid took three hours to take out his first contact and Kenneth was encouraging the whole...if that was possible.
