Upon entering Dr. Vogels office, one can see immediately what kind of a doctor he and his wife are…read more Literally every square inch of the walls and plexiglass partitions are covered with "DON'T DO THIS" and "DON'T DO THAT". Threats everywhere. I walked in for neuralgia issues on my face, massive scabs covering most of my face, and severe pain. The first question? "Have you tried a TENS unit on your face and head?" um..."where would I attach the pads? The pads won't stick to the scabs nor the hair..." These insipid, irrelevant questions were asked AFTER we'd sat in the waiting room for two hours. Vogel is always overbooked, and his waiting room can't hold everyone. It smells very bad, like it's never been cleaned. Butt sweat and foot odor occupy the room like a pall of pollution. Vogel's arrogance supercedes his knowledge by a fair amount. He put me on questionable meds, and when I questioned them, he lost his temper and practically threw me out of the room. I explained the meds were causing prostate issues and he claimed that was "impossible." He unnecessarily referred me to a urologist who barely did anything except hit us with a large bill. His response to my issue? "When you stop that med, the issue will go away. I cannot speak poorly of another doctor, but I'll tell you you're correct and he's wrong." Vogel on the other hand, trashed the urologist. He insisted the medication wasn't causing the secondary problem, and told me to get used to the med, because "You'll likely be on this for the rest of your life." (I've been off it for three months now, no issues). His office claimed one day, that they'd called me to move my appointment. We showed up on time and were told they'd called. I had received no call, and the call log on my cell proved it. His office essentially called me a liar, and indicated MY PHONE call logs were wrong. Vogel made some smart-ass comment about "if you'd answer your phone, you'd know what time to show up." He also was dishonest from the jump about the meds. I'd had enough of his Swiss-German BS arrogance and narcissism, so looked for another doctor. Meanwhile, his office called and said they again had to move my upcoming appointment. They actually reached my phone, but the date they left had occurred three days previously. We called several times, but were unable to secure an appointment after they canceled one. Turns out, Vogel had "fired us" as patients, because of my complaint about the two hour wait times, and the obnoxiousness of the staff. Vogal may have received the title of "DOCTOR," but he's closer to Dr. Suess in ability, and closer to Dr. NO in terms of human decency. BTW, my urology issues cleared as soon as i stopped the questionable medication Vogel put me on. I did not need to continue the medication, and I'm now entirely medication-free, something Vogel insisted several times, that I could not do. This guy is not trustworthy in my opinion. In my opinion, he belongs in Eastern Europe, where bedside manner, talent, and human decency matter less than here in America. Why pay a doctor to treat you like you're the scum on the bottom of his shoe? Trust Jason N and SS I's reviews. The others are likely paid reviews.

I think he was significantly late to every appointment we ever had with him (like more than 20 minutes late to a 15-min appointment) and in many cases we had to contact the front desk to get him to respond, and they said he had forgotten or not marked the appointment on his calendar. He said that DPC is supposed to be good for complex medical situations, but in practice, he would only listen to us briefly before concluding what test we should get and then talking about that test a lot. He was not good at listening to us and it felt so difficult to get even a few sentences out around him. One time I even booked two appointments (one for me one for my husband) to TRY to have enough time for him to listen to something complicated that I felt was threatening my heart health, and still got shut down and not listened to and just told to rebook in a few weeks for more so-called "care." He was also not the best about refills, referrals, etc. often had to follow up a lot. I felt the doctor was failing to get an understanding of our health histories and was instead just listening barely long enough to suggest a test and then that's all he wanted to talk about. for example: my husband: I've been having fatigue dr.: (no questions about when it started or what it was like) you should get a sleep study! my husband: well, i'm not sure (not thinking sleep apnea was likely explanation, given the other details about the fatigue history) dr.: you can do a sleep study at home these days! Additionally, the nurse/phlebotomist seemed very inexperienced and severely injured me while doing the blood draw. She also mishandled the blood sample, so one of the tests we paid for was voided and had no result, because it had been exposed to too much light. I had constant low-grade pain in my arm for months after her blood draw, because she must have damaged my muscle or nerve with the needle and wouldn't take it out when I said it was more painful than any blood draw I'd ever had (she just said "you're overthinking it, just breathe."). I wish I had ripped the needle out, because I've had dozens of blood draws and I know what they normally feel like, even when they're a little painful, and this was not normal. I was hoping for better but this DPC did not turn out to be what we needed. We found someone better through recommendations on r/vegaslocals.

However, since seeing him in his office and the last two visits with PA Steiner, my opinion has completely changed on these guys. First off I'll say, I will never go back here and I don't recommend them. As pulmonary doctors, having asthma, a PFT test should be done, but that's not the biggest issue. I have a history of pneumonia in my right lung along with other issues. The last time I saw PA Steiner, I was extremely sick with pneumonia and other issues. He did absolutely nothing for me. Didn't offer any medications, no advice, nothing. I fortunately decided to go to pulmonary at the VA. She immediately ran a boat load of blood tests, ordered a CT Scan and a PFT initially which after that one a more advanced one. So this is why I'm not recommending these guys.... The blood work came back showing issues, the CT of my lungs came back showing issues, I'm waiting for the second PFT. These guys are Intensive and Pulmonary and did absolutely nothing for me or made any attempt to diagnose me. Beware if you have serious pulmonary issues. I should not have to request or demand for them to do their job. I'll stick with the VA as these guys did not want to do anything to help me or earn my business or recommendation.

They have a handful of other locations, all of them with similar wait times for appointments; being in Henderson, this was one of the closer locations to me. If you're a new patient, you'll want to arrive 30 minutes early to fill out the paperwork. It will maybe be confusing when you first arrive since Advanced Heart Care shares a building with Siena Cardiology. Just make sure you are going into Ste. 120 (2641 W. Horizon Ridge Pkwy). The waiting area is pretty nice with comfortable seating, magazines, and a TV. The receptionist was friendly and got me checked in really quickly. The wait was a tad long, but not by too much. I think I waited an extra 15-25 minutes to be brought back and to have the nurse do triage/vitals check and my EKG. Then we waited about 10-15 more minutes for the doctor in the patient room. It's a small room, so I had to be extra mindful of keeping my toddler contained to a small space while we waited, but he was fine. Dr. Ismail was a breath of fresh air and smart. He was able to look at my charts and details quickly and easily and point out what other practitioners have been missing and what I've been suspecting for years... and I didn't even have to advocate for myself at all or feel like I had to explain anything. He was just so knowledgeable and knew exactly what would be the best next steps for my treatment, and he also explained everything to me without wasting my time. I finally feel like I'm getting the help I need after years of practitioners/doctors forcing the same ineffective treatment over and over again that has proved to fail time and time again. The medical profession needs more knowledgeable practitioners like Dr. Ismail! Be aware that he may come off to some people as a bit curt and straight to the point, however he is not rude. He doesn't waste time during the appointment and is focused on diagnosis, explanation, and next steps without the fluff, and I prefer that over time-wasting "care" that goes nowhere.
