I let her know I had reached out to her within 24 hours via the messaging you could do through the Vagaro scheduling system she has. I was not acknowledged and only told she called me and I didn't answer making it my fault. I was at work so I didn't answer. I was hollered at that I no showed and she gave me no solution. She did not even ask kindly if I would pay the fee which I would have from the start if I knew. I felt completely attacked because she went in circles of how I didn't pay. I barely said a few words to her the entire interaction. I work in the aesthetic industry and the normal response would have been that I see you didn't pay for your no show and come to an understanding as I did notify her, but she said I didn't. She has tens of appointments daily that I can see and told me one person needed my specific appointment... This could have been waived as I've never seen her. I left with my mouth dropped with how she reacted to me being there. I understand your system, but I didn't understand your behavior. I had tried calling over 5 times over the last few months to schedule and was never called back after leaving messages and your website/scheduling system was not set up to allow to make appointment requests prior to a month ago and then I'm hollered at because I missed an appointment. I am esthetician myself and appreciate the business but don't appreciate this customer service.

Upon arrival I was met by Kim (the owner) who was very friendly and followed COVID protocols. She checked my temperature, had sanitizer available, air purifiers going, and wore a mask (as did I) the entire time. She made me feel right at home and honestly made the entire process seamless. We had a nice conversation throughout, she told me how she has over 27 years in the business and asked me about myself. You know when people ask you about yourself, but they don't really care to hear the answer, they think they are just polite with asking? Well, this was not that. Kim was genuinely interested in what I said which made me feel like I knew her, and already liked her! She gave me a lot of tips/tools for making my skin healthier based on what she could see from our time together and was nice enough to shed some light on what facials are and what I would expect if I ever decided to have my very 1st facial! Kim also does ear piercings which is great to know (I have over 10 piercings myself) so this place was so right for me. She also sells products which I saw when I walked in, but she was not trying to sell them to me like some places do as soon as you walk in the door. I am rating my experience a 5 because it surprised me how comfortable I felt and to top it off, how fast and precise Kim was with my wax request. Growing up, I went to random salons and had enough bad experiences that I spent most of my adult years nervous to let anyone touch them again. Elaine was completely different. She did an incredible job listening to exactly what I wanted and executing it beautifully. She made me feel heard, comfortable, and cared for the entire time. It was much easier to relax at this place because it doesn't have that bustling feeling I'd experience at other salons. Not overly packed and a calmness from staff. I had very dry feet with some heavy calluses so I opted for their best pedicure, the deluxe vip one. It definitely felt worth it. Tony did my pedicure and he was very warm and kind. I pointed out the calluses and he took extra care addressing them until smooth. My only complaint was he ended up cutting/filing one of my big toes too much that it looked close to bleeding (it did break so it was short), and too many coats of the nail polish made it thick. Still an amazing experience and still worth the price. I booked pretty last minute so I didn't get to book some of the staff I see recommended on here. I definitely want to return. Ritva asked where are my target areas I'd like to treat for my Massage, I let her know where I've been experiencing a lot of pain at and she took time and concentrated on exactly what I asked for while still making time to do my full body. I will never go back to that joint. The man and his wife are very nice to you the first few times, but then feel safe that you are a regular and their attention goes to walk-ins while you get sub-standard service. The only time they are on time is for your first appointment. After that, forget it. They take everyone, even when it's obvious that they can't possibly accommodate another one and deliver a good service. What really got on my nerves was their musical chair approach. They keep switching back and forth on who is giving you the mani, with the old woman giving you a massage. For example, one sets up the table and starts, then the other comes and tries to pick the filing where it was left, then another switch for the polish etc. And if their children are there, which happens after school hours or during vacation, there goes your piece and quiet. With the children running wild and the mother screeching at them, the relaxation you hoped for goes out the window. That woman is so insensitive that she doesn't respect the quiet time and insists in chit-chating just to be seen as 'friendly.' Very annoying. For a lot less money I can go elsewhere and have a great job and perfect experience. read more

I had high hopes of finding a really good place to replace my last salon who's service has fallen quite far. Although the prices was $7 more than what I'd been paying I figured that being in downtown Menlo Park I had a better than fair chance of being happy. The good. The owner who did my nails was very pleasant and even cheery and I very much enjoyed my time with her. The bad. Although she said she'd been doing nails and hair for about 8 years, it took her an hour and a half. My nails started to lift after only 2 days. When you pay $35 for a fill, you or at least I expect stellar service. Not to mention that the gel overlay was the liquid type and not the gel that comes from a jar. It started chipping within a week. My advice....try Julie at First Impressions in San Carlos. Same price but she offers colored acrylic, which I have done on my tips instead of the same old boring pink/white and the entire nail is gel. From the jar. read more

This morning, I went to Kendra's for the second time, and I continue to be absolutely blown away by the superb skill and top-notch customer service by Kendra and her team. The first time I went, I got a gel pedicure, and it was the best pedicure I've ever had. It wasn't a fluke - the second time, I got a gel pedicure *and* a full set of nails with dip. Kendra listened intently to what I was hoping to achieve, and she exceeded my expectations with the finished product. My nails and feet are absolutely beautiful, and I couldn't be happier.
