I was nervous…read moreabout the avalanches, nervous about the terrain, just everything in general as we have never gone backcountry skiing but the whole operation ran very smoothly and we loved both days we went! They start by grouping people by activity level and aggressiveness desired, we fell into moderate for both. Different people in the our group in each but same awesome guide, shoutout to Cameron!! There's only one lift but the bus system and way they separate the groups is very efficient. The runs are amazingg and the I highly recommend the heli-drops. The next time we go back, we're definitely doing a 3 or 6 pack instead of just the one. The hiking is...brutal, at that elevation and when your legs are already tiring from going down the mountain, it was difficult for me. And I would consider myself a fairly fit person coming from Denver so already at a higher altitude to begin with. The second day seemed slightly easier than the first. The mountain is amazing, the town is adorable. As someone who wants to go in the backcountry but slightly nervous going without an expert, I really loved my experience. Our guide was so knowledgeable, asked for our preferences, and was super patient with me which I appreciated! I can't wait to go back!

Plenty of fun runs, and a decent amount of high speed lifts. The layout is a bit funky with some solid traversing and long runouts but overall still a good spot. We stayed in the village. Not much food that I know of in the village so we are down in the town of Durango. Had free days from a season pass from a partner resort so used those to my advantage. Great views and a pretty drive! In the words of the terminator, "I'll be back."

Didn't try the zipline, but didn't seem worth it based on the length. The inferno mountain coaster is an amazing addition, although we waited in line for 45 min for it. The alpine slide has changed dramatically in the past few years (we used to be able to get buy one get one coupons for 5 bucks here, but now that tickets are $15 each for a single ride... that's a different story). Apparently the town was also getting crushed (servers, bartenders, etc) by this. SOME sort of news/press release would have saved countless people thousands of dollars. Previously I gave 5*because it is a gorgeous resort, lush skiing, absolutely magnificent views worthy of the hikes. Everyone in old town was so warm and welcoming. Expensive, but you get what you pay for!

Downhill mountain biking seems like the most popular summer thrill, and the alpine slides. Chairlifts are running and it looked like fun was being had by all ages here. We hiked up to the mtn cantina (powderhouse)which is closed for the summer but they have picnic tables out on their patio so it is a great place to sit and have a snack. We enjoyed watching all the mtn bikers zooming down - then we hiked down and had lunch and drinks at the base.

We were able to ride the chairlift up and back. We went to get into the line for the Alpine Slide. Almost immediately, they closed everything down due to lightning strikes near by. 30 minutes and extended another 30 minutes after each new strike. Reading the website, it states that when a weather DELAY happens you have an hour to ask for a refund. It also says after 2:00 there are no refunds. If you use your pass at all, you get a partial refund (great! We'll take the 75% refund since we rode one activity and the delay kept getting extended) Holy cow the nonsense at the ticket booth! No refunds unless they "close". You can use it all season. Different terminology on the website and on the laminated sheet at the register. We were leaving to go back to AZ the next day so we wouldn't be back this season. It took 4 families asking for refunds and referring to the website's refund policy (delay vs closed not selling any tickets during the delay so are they closed?!!) and 3 levels of employees to finally get our money back and then finally admitting the policy terminology is contradictory and confusing and "will be updated and changed soon". The activities all looked fun and we understand weather happens but this has to happen a lot with summer storms. They really try to steal your money with a poorly written policy and a rude cashier who obviously never read the website. Questionable if we'll return.

Also their underground parking lot makes getting from the car to your room a breeze. The room was massive and as was the bathroom. My favorite part though was the balcony. So delightful to sit out there and be right at the base of the mountain. The continental breakfast had super fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits and homemade cinnamon rolls. Would be spending $30+ per person for breakfast anywhere else so it's a winner. I can't wait to be back and try one of their condos with some friends :)

We had an excellent stay at the Camel's Garden Hotel…read more While it is an older hotel, you can't beat the location. It is located right next to the gondola. It does appear they may have renovated the downstairs common area. There is plenty of lounge seating, a fireplace and light oks like you can host a small gathering. We walked in and the front desk clerk who worked Wednesday was very friendly and even walked the luggage cart down to the garage for us. There is an underground garage that has shared space with the hotel condos. But it is $20 a day to park. I'm not sure if there is an alternative space outside to park overnight. The king room was very spacious and has a fireplace. Our friends stayed in the queen size room which was much smaller and no fireplace. There is plenty of seating in the room and has a large bathroom, wardrobe closet, 2 dressers and dining table. There is a large tv but unfortunately the WiFi is a bit sketchy so we could watch much tv. We even had a small balcony. The bed was very comfortable. Pillows not so much. Plenty of linens. There is a ski valet which is open from 8:30am to 4:30pm which is so nice to have available. We came down the hill late one afternoon and left our equipment outside the valet room. They were safe and sound inside the valet the next day. We had the nicest ski valets taking care of us, Jake and Miller. The hotel provides a free continental breakfast from 7:30am to 9:30am. Bagels & salmon, toast, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee. The breakfast staff were very friendly. There is a nice pool and jacuzzi with views. A bar/restaurant is attached to the hotel which is convenient. Clearly a locals favorite. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Telluride.

Room 12 is small but has been completely redone. The bed was very comfortable. The Suite has not been redone so is a little dated but has two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and bathroom. The beds were very comfy. The living room also has a futon so could sleep 6. Both rooms were spotlessly clean. The manager was super accommodating and had lots of recommendations about restaurants and activities in the area. Rates were reasonable, parking ample and the continental breakfast was basic, but good (great coffee!). They also have fuel and a convenience store. The only downside - and it only applies in the summer - is the lack of air conditioning. We opened windows and got the rooms cooled down with fans, so it was fine, but air is the only thing missing.

No paper towels or kitchen towels, no dish soap Bathroom, we were not provided enough towels and wash cloths for 4 people for two nights Unable to regulate heat, one bedroom was cold one was hot thermostat was nonfunctional. On a positive note the beds were comfortable and the hot water was great. Overall, it was VERY disappointing and certainly not worth what we paid to stay there.
