Update: The manager called me and took care of this situation and made it right. Purchases a brand new honda sport and was told oil changes would be free the first year. They only honored the first oil change. Called and called Kevin the sales guy and he said he would take care of it and would get in touch with me within the hour. 14 calls later and two messages and two weeks have gone by and still no word. Shady business practice. Would never recommend this dealership to anyone. read more

Prime example of why dealer service is so bad. My 23 Passport needed the front passenger CV axle replaced due to a torn boot. The axle was ultimately replaced, but leaving the grease mess it made for me to clean up. I get that techs aren't compensated enough for warranty repairs, but this is just plain laziness. I also bet Honda corporate would like to know they are charging for replacement parts and reusing the old. The axle nut was supposed to be replaced per WO and my original was clearly reused. I also would like to thank the tech who tightened my lug nuts to 200 ft lbs when putting the wheel back on, just the icing on the cake. Typical dealer BS, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

This place is nothing but shady. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I brought my car in with an EXTENDED WARRANTY to get urgent work done mind you they told me they wouldn't be able to get it looked a whole month later from when I originally brought it in. Their website STATES they are REQUIRED to work on it right away if you have a warranty through them. Which I do. They also refused to give me a loaner due to them, "not having enough loaners so I would have to be put on a list." Leaving me without a car for a month. What dealership doesn't give out loaners to customers that BOUGHT the car from them. I have never heard of something so ridiculous. Maybe this time was an exception and that was truly the case but nothing they did made sense correlating to what they would do, whatsoever. After playing phone tag for WEEKS with no answers and nothing but cluelessness from everyone, I decided to bring my business elsewhere. When I came to pick up my keys, we overheard one of the technicians say he had to replace my battery. When was my car even touched when I was told, 1. I would get a call if anything was done to it and 2. I was told no one could even look at my car until February 20th? None of their actions or words added up they couldn't even keep track of it all. To top it all off, when the technician drove my car to the parking lot and I got into my car, there was a piece of my door handle broken, just sitting on my passenger seat?! I was never told anything about that. Ken Vance Honda is a joke. Don't bother talking to the girls at the front desk either. Leanna was clueless and unprofessional. She didn't even know what she was doing and had no answers to help. Just a bunch of bs and a huge joke of a company. Nobody was willing to reason anything with us, and we got no answers whatsoever. Save your time and don't ever buy a car from these guys! Crazy how many people I've talked to and have said they have had the worst experiences with Ken Vance, wish I knew that sooner. read more

I bought a used Honda Oddesy in Oct 2024..i was impressed with Ken the salesman, no pressure, appeared helpful. I was talked into getting the maintenance agreement, gap insurance and rustproofing. It turns out Hondas are rust proofed in the factory, the maintenance agreement doesn't cover much and the $999 for gap insurance was $8 a month from my own insurance company. Within a week, my brakes were grinding. It was unsafe to drive. Worse than metal on metal. They said it was normal wear. I had a local mechanic fix the brakes and Vance did pay half of the repair. I cancelled the maintenance agreement $3500 and the gap $999 and have had to call numerous times to get the money refunded. Five months later, leaving messages which were never returned, talking to the finance dept who said they'd look into it and call back, which they never did, they said a check would be issued. Said typical time was 6 weeks. FIVE MONTHS LATER i get the money back, with no apology for the delay. I would not recommend Ken Vance to anyone. read more

Took a vehicle in for service and one of their people actually threatened to burn the rustproofing off of my vehicle, possibly because we chose not to add their rustproofing on purchase, and they didn't fix the problem properly either. They were also dishonest about the price of the vehicle we purchased. The sales manager appears to me to be mentally disturbed. Avoid at all costs. read more

They emailed me for our 1 year of purchasing a vehicle. Prior to that we took it to them to "service" it. They updated our idle and it just stopped working. I called them and asked a few weeks later and they told me I needed to drive it a longer distance for it to work again. We did that, and nothing. So when he emailed I brought that back up and they just ignored my question AGAIN. We were not asked if we wanted the update either. I also brought up that the car has been nothing but issues for us. Less than a year we bought new tires. In August of 2023 we took it to Honda in our town and were told the struts were not new and worn. They claim to have change them all before selling. A manager reached out and they told me they'd trade the suv in for us but these issues were stated within the first few weeks of us buying the vehicle. Trunk power lift went out (within first week of purchase), lcd shuts off when it wants, car making noises over bumps, tires were so worn down on the inners part and the windshield has over 5 cracks. All our concerns were dismissed. We were told warranty covered the power lift but we ended up paying 200 for replacement. Less then a year we had to purchase new tires, insurance told us dealership was wrong and that we'd have to pay 2,000 for new windshield (after they told us insurance would cover) and our car is still making noises. They told us to get quotes from dealerships in town to buff and fix ALL the scratches. When we did they denied it and had us take it to them to fix (over an hour drive). It was not buffed out. They just took black paint and covered them. It looks horrible. Not professionally done at all. I could've taken paint and did the same. It looks like someone took nail polish and put it all over the vehicle. When I asked them they claim that, that's how you "buff" it out and fix the vehicle. Reaching out has gotten no where. Buying a new used vehicle from a big dealership you're expecting a working worry free vehicle for at least a year, but no. All we've had to do was worry and pay to have it looked at and replace parts. Email sent from them... we invested $4,000 to replace all (4) tires, front struts/control arms/sway links as well as a fog light and wipers to address all the concerns we were aware of. -This was sent from Ian. Then he dismisses it to a manager who takes back the claim of replacing the tires after I sent proof of purchasing new tires. I miss informed Ian that the tires were replaced and wanted to apologize for my mistake, however -- the front struts, mounts, lower control arms and sway links were 100% replaced. Ultimately, it's been a year and a number of miles since you purchased the vehicle, and your frustration is being received loud and clear. -Sent from Nariah Dealership has since then not replied to my email after sending proof and calling them out. I sent Ian email videos of the issues days after we bought the vehicle. I took my vehicle in to my local Honda and got papers a month after purchasing the vehicle that says "struts worn down due to high mileage". This was when we also had to replace the spark plugs and had them check out the noise issues. A dealership that can't own up to selling a bad vehicle. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place when purchasing a "new used" vehicle. They literally sell as is but claim to invest in it. Why would I trade in the vehicle to get into another from the same place?! Ummm, shouldn't the person's car who has been in the shop for a month and a half take precedent over the guy that's coming in for an oil change? On 10/11/2018 we purchased a 2011 Nissan Murano Cross Cabriolet through internet sale dealing with Craig Geissler of Ken Vance Motors Inc. There were several conversations with Craig Geissler before purchase to make sure vehicle was in good condition and was told vehicle was local trade in very good condition. I had Craig Geissler do a personal walk around check on vehicle and he stated only visible body damage was a small scratch on bumper. After having no luck in getting a shipping company to pick up and deliver we rented a car on 10/23/2018 and drove entire day to pick it up. When we left Ken Vance Motors it was dark and we drove entire night to return home with vehicle. The next day it was noticed there was a dent in hood not described before sale. Vehicle was taken to Anderson Auto Body Shop in Columbus Nebraska where we found out dent would cost $348 to repair hood , but he also found a worse problem with front bumper cover that causes it to pop out on both sides and also previous hail damage on right side. I was contacted by Suzanne Ashley of Ken Vance Motors who emailed me all repair invoices on Nissan, one of which included previous repair of front end by Ken Vance Motors which was also not stated before sale. Upon closer inspection of bumper cover, it was found several tabs that help in holding bumper cover in place are broken off and has cracks, probably caused by bad workmanship. Body shops stated bumper cover is junk now and will have to be replaced and that hail damage should be repairable with a dent less method. Suzanne Ashley stated she would look into problems and get back to me, but after sending her pictures of problems and estimate on dent she has not answered emails. She is now lying about statements made by body shop to BBB. This is probably because Mr Anderson was very frank with Tom Day when he spoke to him about repair that was very shoddy. BBB has recommended Bureau of Consumer Protection, but want to get more estimates first. Will update with estimates. read more

Edit: March 16, 2018 I am an unusually positive and forgiving person. However, each time I try to give Ken Vance Honda a "second chance" things go from bad to really bad to nearly unforgivable! Today was one of the latter. We have a 2018 CRV with 1,100 miles. This is our fourth CRV and they are outstanding vehicles. So, it has been surprising that the bluetooth is not working properly. Incoming calls sound fine. Outgoing calls, regardless of which cell phone we use (Apple or Android) has very poor quality transmission. Sounds like gerbils in the back ground! We have not had this problem with our other vehicles making and receiving calls. However, when I asked the Service Manager, Kevin, about it, he tried to explain it away as a "cell tower issue." Then he asked: out of 10 times, how many times does this happen?" I said, "Oh, 10." He became rather enraged, said no one had ever reported this as a problem (confirming my suspicion that the equipment is faulty." Then he said "who was your salesman?" I said I bought it in Minnesota. He became further enraged, muttering loudly that they weren't going to spend any time on this.....etc." There are professional ways to handle these situations, but Kevin doesn't seem to know this. What a complete jerk. I feel sorry for the people who have to work with him. I can (and will) refuse to do business with KEN VANCE HONDA. They have to work under this guy. As I've said (see below), take your business to Zimbrick in Madison or Luther in the Twin Cities. This dealership is very bad news. Prior bad experiences: Having moved to Eau Claire from Madison, where Zimbrick Honda is the Lexus of Honda dealers, service with Vance Honda has been consistently underwhelming at best, horrible at worst. I just had my son's CRV in for an estimate on transmission work. I ran the code myself, so I didn't need them to tell me what it was and then charge $101.00! I asked if I could talk with the mechanic who examined the car, and he refused to talk with me. This is not the first, but will be the last time I will ever so much as walk in the door of this place. I wonder if $100 is worth losing a very loyal Honda products consumer? I guess the answer is "Yes." If you can make it to Madison, service your car at Zimbrick. Class act all the way. read more

I'm the first to review, so I'll keep it brief: I would not return to the Honda section of this service department and dealership. The service advisor was a prick. For example, he referred to my Honda as "that thing." Yes, it is old, but have some tact. And he had a general attitude with me. I forgot his name. Long story short, when I brought my car in, he said it was only for the diagnostic portion of the fix. I would have to make another appointment to actually get the power steering hose replaced. I told him I know it's the power steering hose and I wanted it fixed. He said they don't do it that way because they can't take the customers word for it on what is wrong with the car. I brought the part into the service department with me, and later came back. He said, "no, I told you on the phone that you have to make another appointment to get the work done. I didn't book enough time, only for the diagnostic part." I was correct in that it was the power steering hose needed to be replaced. So I didn't have enough time (I only had a few days left) to get it fixed because of him, so I had to drive back to California with no power steering. If I come back to Eau Claire, I won't have any work done at that place. So much for keeping it short. read more

I've had good experiences getting my Honda repaired at Ken Vance Car City. They have usually fixed my car on the same day I brought it in, including on one occasion when they were full but squeezed me in for an appointment at 3PM on a Friday (and I had no idea what was wrong with the car that day). I think the one exception was when they needed to order a part. Once I needed a battery replacement and I called around to see if an independent shop would be cheaper than Ken Vance being that they're a dealer, and Ken Vance actually had the better price. They offer a shuttle service if you need it, and the staff has always been pleasant. There is also a play area available with toys in case you need to bring small children with you while you're getting your repairs done. The main waiting area has a TV and telephones for customer use. My one complaint is that after they replaced a rear view mirror that had been sheared off, it had a slight vibration to it on the highway. I asked them to take a look at it on a later visit, and they said it was as tight as they could get it. But it still vibrates. Normally I don't need body work done, so I keep going to them for engine maintenance because I've always been happy with that work. read more

I was having issues with my 2006 Honda pilot making noise under the hood. Mechanic friends of mine told me I probably needed the valves adjusted or something more serious. I don't usually go to a dealership for repairs as it is commonly more costly and the dealership is almost an hour away from me. Because of the area I live in I don't have mechanics that work on Honda's much. I decided to call the dealership because of their expertise with these types of cars. I wanted to be sure my car got the best workmanship. I spoke with Kevin in the Honda service dept. he asked me several questions about what was going on with my vehicle and I decided to make an appointment to have it looked at. He gave me some upfront ballpark cost for adjusting valves. Made the appointment for the following week. About an hour and a half later the phone rang it was Kevin, he had talked to their mechanic Jeremy who had questioned whether our spark plugs had been changed at all. Neither my husband or myself could remember if they had. Jeremy the mechanic explained to Kevin that possibly one of the spark plugs had come slightly loose and air could get behind that and would cause noise for the engine. He said we should get them changed. My husband changed them right away. The car purrs like a kitten now! We have never had such a wonderful experience with the service department or a dealership ever! Kevin went out of his way to discuss my vehicle with the mechanic and actually took the time to call us back thinking it's possibly something as simple as spark plugs. Which it was! Needless to say we canceled our appointment at the dealership. We will get our valves adjusted as Kevin suggested it was time but we're going to wait a little while. We will certainly bring it to the Ken Vance dealership for that adjustment. This is just a huge shout out THANK YOU to Kevin for calling us and letting us know what Jeremy thought it possibly could be. We are beyond impressed with Jeremy's knowledge of vehicles. And thank them both again for going the extra mile, our vehicle is fixed for a mere $35. The dealership didn't make a dime on this but let me tell you Ken Vance Honda will be the first place we go to from now on! Kudos for your integrity! read more

I purchased a used Honda Pilot from my brother when he moved to Puerto Rico a couple of years ago. Yes it is an older vehicle and no I didn't purchase it at Ken Vance Honda. Despite these facts I naively expected to receive good, conscientious service from them. I tried twice, the first time they said my radiator was shot and wanted over $800 to replace. I ignored their advice and watched my temp gauge and coolant levels and never had a problem. This second time I wanted a check engine light coded and asked about some software updates. They proceeded to check the code and then told me that it was an EGR valve that needed to be replaced. They quoted me over $500 for the job (I checked, an EGR valve is between $35 to $60 on line) and they said it might also need further work associated with the valve amounting to another $400+ in charges. I contacted another shop and they said they could do it for under $100. They also told me about a bunch of other things that I should be replacing. I didn't bother to ask the cost of those repairs. After waiting for over an hour for them to check the code and visually look under the hood of the Pilot they charged me just shy of $100. I think that is outrageous but maybe I am naïve. The personnel at the dealership are friendly enough but it seems to me they see every customer that comes through the door as an opportunity to sell thousands of $ in unnecessary repairs.
