Purchased a 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk at the end of February 2025. By June the vehicle started consuming oil and by the time they figured out what was wrong the limited warranty had just ran out. I called the Sales Manager and they were not willing to work with me at all to pay to find the root problem or pay a portion of potential repairs. The told me vehicles are sold As is. I took it to my local mechanic and one of the cylinders was scored. I need a new engine. He told me the vehicle had been that way for awhile. I texted them to get an update and got no response. Initially, we had a very negative experience with the collision center due to repairs not being completed properly which left our car deemed unsafe to drive along with our brakes sustaining damage due to the car being stored improperly while on site. Communication was a major issue as our concerns were ignored despite our repeated attempts to discuss the issues. This experience shook our confidence and especially bothered us because we had the pleasure of knowing Ken Vance in years past. He was an amazing person who displayed utmost integrity and honesty, and he saw being humble as a strength. He was always eager to seek ways to improve and got so excited each time he discovered a way to fix something. The initial experience we had at Vance Collision did not reflect the values Ken Vance displayed. We were recently contacted by Justin Larsen at Ken Vance Hyundai who had heard about our experience, genuinely wanted to discuss it, and was sincere about resolving the issue. He took the time to gather the facts, respond to our questions, seek a fair solution, and acknowledge what had happened. This was a breath of fresh air. Justin displayed the same values that Ken Vance worked hard for to build his dealership. While we are disappointed with the initial experience, we greatly appreciate Justin reaching out, and we especially appreciate the respect he has shown to Ken Vance's legacy as a result of him taking the time to address this issue. We went to look at a Chevy Avalanche. we test drive it. The rear brakes were both hot after the test drive so we asked them to look at it. he said they would and they would call us the next day for an update. I texted at 9:45am as I hadn't heard anything. The salesman stated that they were replacing both rear brakes because they were sticking. This was Friday morning. We made an appointment to go back on Saturday morning at 10am to buy it and at 4pm the salesman called us and told us they sold it out from under us-no phone call, no warning- nothing. poor professionalism and business ethics. Went to pick up my fathers car, where they said it was fully repaired and ready to go. Went there and they told us that one piece for the car was missing so i went home and waited the next day. Next day comes along and they tell me that the car is now fully ready and prepared, so I show up and it just turns out that one of the mechanics forgot to put a sensor in one of the wheels so I was told to wait another day. Finally, on the third damn day I was able to get the car. I went not once or twice, but three times to get the car which was explained to me over the phone that it was "fully repaired". Wasting my time like that is completely unprofessional and I am glad your store gets all the bad reviews it does. My March 2017 encounter with "Kevin" from the Service Dept did not go well. I explained the problem we were having with the Bluetooth system on our brand new 2018 CRV and a) he basically said I was nuts--we've never had a complaint not this" and b) "You didn't buy the vehicle from us so we're not going to do anything about it. I ended up returning to Zimbrick Honda in Madison, always reliable, always knowledgeable, always friend. "Bob H." in the Service Department on Fish Hatchery Road was unfailingly kind, respectful, and helpful. In minutes he knew the problem and printed out the necessary information I needed to correct it. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes--10 of which was him assuring me they would take care of me, do the "fix" themselves, whatever it took to make me a happy customer. ABSOLUTE LIARS! I attempted to negotiate my trade in value. They offered me 10% below KBB trade value. They repeatedly told me they gave me the highest amount they could without taking a loss. Salesman stated he was being upfront and straight with me. He gave me a number that he planned to sell my car for on his lot. 2 days later my car was put on the lot for 2 thousand more than he stated!!!!! Beyond disappointed in this entire business. Please look elsewhere when you have a trade in if you don't want to lose your hard earned money so they can make a DISHONEST PROFIT FROM YOU. read more

Historically, we have had excellent service at Ken Vance. During our most recent visit in December, we werE turning in a lease coming due an beginning a nEw Hyundai lease. We had done the paperwork online, scheduled a time to meet with someone on a Saturday morning and had oUr next vehicle selected. When we arrived. The person with whom we had our appointment wasn't available (he was working, just not available for our appointment) so they would "see if someone else could help us". For the next 6 hours we were told our online paperwork was submitted to a Ken Vance site that they couldn't access, their finance person wouldnt be available for at least two hours, and they had to "figure out" what to do with the lease vehicle we were turning in. There were zero other customers in the building the entire time we were there, on a Saturday, with EVERYTHING PREPARED BEFORE WE ARRIVED. Finally, we left mid afternoon with our new vehicle after being told to "give them a good review because that's how they earn their commission". Nearly 60 days later, we are receiving letters from Hyundai Finance threating legal action because their records show our lease was never turned in. When we called Ken Vance, they "think" the vehicle is still on their lot. We won't even be taking our vehicle tO be serviced there. We have been Ken Vance customers for 12 years and bought or leased 4 vehicles from them - but never again will we be using their business. read more

My newly licensed child decided that he wanted a Scion TC. We looked at several cars and dealers but we kept finding cars not as advertised and I could see my son's frustration build. He found a car in Wisconsin to look at here at Ken Vance Motors. We drove out there to take a look. There were dents and scratches that weren't listed. My son was really dead set on getting that car. I tried to work with them to fix a couple things that I noticed and try to get a price reduction. They moved slightly on the price. The car didn't have a warranty so I wanted a few things taken care of first. The main thing was the tire pressure low indicator was on. They took it back and it came out with the light off. They must have reset the light. My son wanted the car and you couldn't talk him out of it so we did the paperwork to buy the car. They came back to us trying to charge me higher interest and my credit is good, I told him that the rate was too high and he looked some more. I am not sure if this was a tactic or not. They also said that we HAD TO borrow $5,000 even though we wanted to put more money down and borrow less. I am not sure if that is normal or not. I think that was baloney. We got everything done and drove away and 5 minutes into the drive, the low tire pressure light came on again. I called the sales guy right away, they never returned my call. I imagine that it was without a warranty and they didn't care. That still gives my son trouble. The rims were corroded and air was leaking from many tires. We had a shop clean the rims and install new tires to see how that works. I wouldn't return to Vance motors. The only friendly person was Ken Vance himself schmoozing the customers. If you are the kind of person who looks at the bad reviews and thinks "well that's just one bad experience" be warned! As someone who usually only leaves positive review's in a world where people only voice their opinions when they are unhappy or upset, I couldn't help but voice my horrendous experience with Ken Vance... First off, within weeks of purchasing this vehicle I began having problems with it. The visor that blocks the sun literally fell off, I realize this was probably due to them gluing it in place to make the car more cosmetically pleasing. Trying to look past something so small and so simple, I then began to realize the biggest physical problem. Entering my vehicle a few times I have noticed my cup holder being filled with water, thinking I was just clumsy with whatever beverage I had last in my cup holder, I thought nothing of it. Fast forward 6 months later, and I'm driving home in the pouring rain and notice that my cup holder (now full with water again) is being dripped into from my leaking windshield. There is no crack, just simply a faulty sealing in the top of it. The ceiling in my car is showing water spot and I'm sure also needs to be replaced. THE WORST PART (of my experience with KV): Yesterday my cosigner went to their primary bank only to find out that Ken Vance ( without us having any knowledge) put the loan primarily in her name rather then in mine. Therefor not helping to improve my credit rating, initially bringing hers down for signing a new loan, and partially defeating the purpose of us buying a car from them in the first place. When someone tells us directly that the loan is in my name and that is why the interest rate is at 15%, only to find out a FULL year later that is not the case, it is in my Cosigners name who has almost perfect credit, that shows us my name was simply put on there to disguise their lying, dishonest ways in order to make the sale. We might as well have put the full loan in her name, had a 5% interest rate (Which we are doing) from the beginning and had the loan paid off in 2.5 years rather than 5(yrs). Listen, you can make whatever choice you want, if you've had good experiences with Ken Vance or any other car dealership, that's really great.... But just make sure you know exactly what you are getting and EXACTLY who's name the loan is under. We were taken advantage of and lied to in everyway you look at our situation. They will be hearing from us and will possibly be seeing legal action against their dealership. read more

I don't know why our first review disappeared, but will do it again. We purchased a car through internet sales dealing with Craig Geissler and after getting it home found damage not described before sale. The vehicle was described as well taken care of local owner car with only visible damage was scratches on bumper. Used cars are sold as is, but in this case as is, is as described by seller, which it was not. We drove all day to get there and when we picked up car and headed back it was dark. After we got home early next morning found dent in the hood. We were contacted by Suzanne Ashley who said she would look into it so we had a body shop do estimate for that repair and found front bumper cover was also installed incorrectly, it now pops out on both sides. He also found hail damage, but that was not as noticeable as dent and bumper cover. Since they no longer answering emails we are preparing paper work for Wisconsin Attorney General and Better Business Bureau and will update this after we here back from those Departments. read more

Previous owner of VW Jetta TDI :) Brought my 2006 BMW in for oil change & new battery (after checking if they work on high end vehicles, was told yes)...everything in great shape & WORKING! Was charged extra $ for Ken Vance looking on internet & YouTube (1 hr) to see that they didn't install the battery according to BMW standards...which blew fuses. (Have voicemail with this info). When I picked up vehicle, drivers door lock didn't work...spent 30 mn at dealership trying to find out why, was told that more fuse probably? On way home had "warning" light come on and went straight to Capital Motors (where i bought car last Dec). After more diagnostic tests, more blown fuse, door actuator (electric door lock) fried, and installed the CORRECT battery (according to BMW), & additional $877...my car is now back in its original condition. Spoke with service manager (Jim Loshe) & returned their battery & Ken Vance refunded their VW Bill except oil change...but VW refused to accept ANY responsibility for additional diagnosis or door actuator...which was $500...Jim Loshe says it was a coincidence & I can't prove otherwise. Please be careful if you bring ANY vehicle to Ken Vance VW...You may not get back your car in the same condition. I will never have anything to do with Ken Vance in any shape or form...besides continuing up the chain. Don't say you aren't warned now. read more

The only hiccup was that my email to Bob evidently hit the junk folder. Three days later, I called. They are absolute con artists from the management down to the service techs. I brought my vehicle in to be fixed and they made it worse. They blamed me and implied that it was already broken when I brought it into the shop. I spoke with the shop manager and the shop mechanic and they agreed it was there fault. Left the vehicle and received a call saying it would cost an outrageous amount for what they originally broke. It was only a recall part that I brought it in for. The Vances lack integrity never called back and lied about following up with the complaint. Buyer beware you would have better luck buying from anywhere else. read more

My wife and I have been customers at Ken Vance Motors since 1987. We have purchased and leased cars there throughout the years. We have had almost all of our service and body work completed there as well. Chuck in service has been consistently great to work with on any of our issues. This past spring we were having some work done on a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue which we purchased new at the dealership. I had just made a decision to keep the car for five more years and put in a $3200 transmission. We were having some underbody work done to replace struts. The bolts had seized so the technician used a blowtorach to lossen them (which I understand is fairly normal procedure). Unfortunately, he didn't notice that he set the car on fire and burned a whle through back seat and damaged the driver back door panel, including the wiring. I understand that accidents do happen and that it wasn't intentional. The service manager told me they would fix everything. I asked how they could be sure other aspects of the wiring hadn't been damaged during the fire. I didn't get an answer to that question. I spoke with our insurance agent who explained that there were risks driving a car that had experienced a fire. I was uncomfortable having he car driven by younger drivers in our home and actually anyone else. Because I travel for work our time to look at options and replace our vehicle was limited. I had set, what I thought were clear expectations that we would purchase a car using the value of our old car "as is" and that I would deal separately with the dealership on reparation for the car fire. We purchased a a new vehicle at an associate Honda Dealership (Ken Vance Honda) over the weekend with the understanding that I would settle our car fire issue with the main dealership separately. Unfortunately, when I approached the main dealership they were under the impression that the $800 they gave us for our car in trade was all they thought they ought to do because they did offer to "repair" our vehicle. When I asked them if they would be okay with their children our spouses driving a car that had a fire where the extent of the damage was unknown, they didn't respond. I asked Jason Vance to think about what he thought would be the right thing to do. I explained our recent investments and overall service of the car (all done at Ken Vance Motors) and our intent to drive it for five more years. He offered to give me the car back, increase the cost of our new car by the trade in value of $800 so I could sell my old car for parts (considering the new transmission). I explained I traveled and didn't have time to put pieces of my car on Craig's list. The Honda manager kept telling me that the cost of the transmission was irrevalent because you need a transmission to drive a car (I still don't understand that point). In the end I just walked away. I expected Ken Vance Motors to respond with more integrity especially given my 28 years of being a customer. Jason Vance had little time to listen to my concerns as he needed to be somewhere else. At one point, when Jason Vance asked me "what I wanted", rather than say "for you to do the right thing" I should have just said "I want in financial compensation the loss of driving my paid for car for the next five years, including the cost of the new tranmission". I'm realizing that Chuck in service, who is an extremely honest and authentic person, is an anomoly at Ken Vance Motors. I do not see customer retention as something they value. My wife, who is genuinely soft-spoken and will always give someone the benfit of the doubt, wrote a two page letter explaining her dissappointment directly to Ken Vance. That letter has gone unanswered. Perhaps it was lost in the mail or someone intercepted it and decided to not show it to him or maybe he just doesn't care anymore. I really don't know. I would not recommend any of these dealerships to anyone. I found the free tire story posted earlier interesting. We are in the same situation with our Honda Crosstour. Purchased a 2011 Tahoe in August 2017. Within 2 months the transmission went out. They offered 800.00$ toward the 4650.00$ transmission. Even with the 800$ it was cheaper to take it somewhere else. Will not be buying our next car there. read more

This was an internet purchase based on information given by salesman. The low rating is because salesman Craig Geissler gave us incorrect information on used vehicle. I was told vehicle was local well taken care of trade in which he personally new about and did personal inspection. He stated vehicle had brand new tires and only body flaws were small scratches on bumper. Tires do not look new, but have seen invoice. There is also a dent in the hood front center about the size of a hand. They had the vehicle for awhile so I am sure dent was seen by other members of Ken Vance Motors, but never mentioned to us and unfortunately not noticed until it was in our garage 500 mile from dealership. We have purchased several vehicles through internet and luckily other dealers have represented vehicles accurately. We are posting this so anyone else purchasing from this dealer will go and personally check out vehicle before signing anything on their used cars. read more

We have been searching for a truck for awhile and finally found something of interest (which takes a lot considering my husband is very particular)at Ken Vance in Eau Claire. We contacted Matt Johnson, who by the way was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, and he made sure that all was in order for us to come look see. Well, needless to say after saw it, drove it, dealt with #'s etc., We bought it!!! Now I no longer have to worry about my husband driving the so called "death trap" that I called it. A huge shout out to Matt Johnson and Susan Longdo at Ken Vance Audi, they made the whole deal go smoothly and we did not feel ANY pressure whatsoever! Daughter made a deal for a used car. Part of the deal was to install a specific part. They charged her $500 to install the part. After no action on the dealership's part, we did some research and found that the part is not available for the car and now they won't refund the additional amount charged. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE!!! This place will try to hide things from you if you buy used. Not to mention I bought a vehicle from them and none of the fluids in the vehicle had be changed or check besides just the oil. I had a few things wrong with the car within the first week and had to fight with them to even get them to do something. Went through the wash once and the paint peeled up where they had tried to cover a rusted spot in the roof with a paint pen. After paying them to repaint the roof it has multiple scratches and gouges where they worked on it. Save yourself a headache and avoid this dealership. As a college student (well, graduate student) I've already been soured by used car dealers projecting stereotypes of the naive first time car buyer on me. Yeah... I walk out when that happens. Anyway... I was given the time of day, I was allowed to direct the conversation, and it was recognized that I ultimately have a say in where I spend my money and how much I spend. I was between two cars at two different dealerships. In this case the "other dealership" won out simply because the car/price was a better fit (the two cars I was interested in is sort of like comparing apples and oranges). As such, I can't speak to how good a deal one can get here, but I can speak to quality of person you will deal with. You'll get the time of day and they will follow up with you after your visit. read more

I have a 2014 Honda Accord. At 16,000 miles I brought the car in for a service to inspect the car and have an the oil changed. I received the inspection form back and the car was in great condition per the inspection form. At 21,000 miles I noticed that the rear tires were very loud and saw the tires had very noticeable cupping. I brought this to their attention and then spoke with the Service Manager and they will not cover anything on the tires. They stated, we don't know if the tires were ever rotated, I asked why didn't you recommend to have them rotated when I first brought in the car at 16,000 miles (no response) if even to prevent future issues. What they offered was a discount on the tires but full cost on the tire mounting and alignment. read more
