My experience with Kempton Auto Body was basically 2 months (yes, 2 whole months) of frustration, confusion, and horrible communication. Our initial repair estimate said it would take 3 days to complete.
The first technician somehow ordered parts for the WRONG SIDE of the car... which delayed the process by a couple of weeks. Did they bother to let us know about their mistake? Nope.
A few other technicians spent weeks blaming my insurance company:
"Once we hear back from insurance, we can start the repairs... we're just waiting on StateFarm... still just waiting on insurance!"
After confirming with my insurance company that NOTHING had been received since the initial estimate over a MONTH ago, I let the body shop know that insurance was not the problem.
And wouldn't you know -- Kempton's checked their portal and noticed that they FORGOT to send the supplemental invoice. My car has been collecting dust for over a month at this point. We maxed out our rental car coverage.
Now that repairs have started 40+ days later, we experienced a whirlwind of mixed messages and false promises. "We just need to paint a few things and then we'll be all done... car should be ready tomorrow... oh wait, parts actually haven't come in yet... oh, we don't paint today, so you'll have to wait until next week... oh, your technician is not working today (again), so it'll have to wait until next week... we actually forgot to order a different part, so that should arrive tomorrow... and it should be ready for you tomorrow... tomorrow... tomorrow... tomorrow"
Ginger was the only helpful person throughout the entire experience. I believe she genuinely tries her best to help the customer, but she is (unfortunately) at the mercy of a technicians who have NO idea what is going on at any given moment.
In summary, Kempton's will consistently over-promise and under-deliver.
If anything, they are consistent! ...just not consistently good. read more
