We were really hoping, after reading these reviews, that we were in good hands. We were absolutely wrong. My ex-husband lives locally, and we initially had an issue where they almost linked his household with ours, and legally, I have sole custody and another child that has no ties to him or his house in any legal or personal manner. This created a massive concern initially. Let's move to our initial visit. The visit itself was questionable. I have two daughters and I am not the average woman that you would see in this small town. I have tattoos, and I am not as clean-cut as the rest. I have a stable job, a home, and a loving family. It was immediately apparent that I was being heavily judged. From the front desk, to the physician herself. She questioned every time frame possible, even ones when I was a single mother working two jobs and couldn't afford consistent care. I have been judged plenty in my life by people just like her, many times, and I know exactly what that looks like. I can handle it just fine. It was when it was pushed towards my oldest daughter that it became a major concern when it was revealed that she was not heterosexual. I had a goal of getting my youngest her labs done, as she had some struggles with insulin resistance in the past and had begun getting lightheaded and dizzy after eating, and I was becoming concerned that something was progressing negatively in that realm. I then requested labs for both girls, and she said that they couldn't be done at the visit and they'd need to be scheduled. She continued questioning. I explained her prenatal development, where she had 4 holes in her heart, extra blood vessels, etc, and had been cleared by a cardiologist 4 years prior, and that her murmur was undetected. She heard the murmur again, and it was not hard to detect this time. Lab appointment. The nurses were seemingly inexperienced with administering lab work and my oldest daughter has medical trauma from having fingers severed and surgically placed back on when she was younger. She can get emotional and cry, and needs me to hold her hand and comfort her. They were very insensitive about this because she is 17. They did not do much to create a comforting experience. The clinician did not have updated notes. It seems the physician was not listening to why I was requesting the labs in the first place because I had to request them with the clinician again, specifically, which then stated that it wasn't even mentioned to her or notated. I have two teenage daughters. One had insulin resistance and a preexisting heart condition, with seemingly worsening symptoms when eating. I requested labs to check A1C, etc. That was the entire reason for labs. My other daughter, I wanted general lab work and an annual STD. When these results came back, and her A1C was in a healthy range, the clinician brought up the cardiologist over the phone and stated that she needs to see her cardiologist again, even if she had been cleared a few years ago. The office called me multiple times throughout the day, asking the same questions the last person who called asked regarding the need for a doctor referral, as if they were not communicating or notating my account. Then they called a last time, stating that they needed me to come in for another appointment because there were no notes regarding her pre-existing heart condition or cardiologist, and that it needed to be a discussion. Mind you, in that initial appointment, I submitted the most recent echo records. The physician was not going to request labs initially and it was per my request that these were even performed. I self-paid for her initial appointment not even 2 weeks prior, then insurance with our lab appointment which I specifically requested for the check to ensure my daughter was ok, and I mentioned all of these things prior, but they were centered on wanting this appointment, and I am sure the money that comes with that. When I asked why more thorough notes of my requests and what was discussed were not documented, the woman on the phone did not have an answer and just said that they just needed to have her in another appointment. I will already have to pay for a specialist appointment as well, and should not have to pay for something that could, and should, have been in the notes of that first appointment to avoid this as an issue. They have absolute and total bias for the families or people they want to, and no compassion for the others. I requested all records and will be reviewing all avenues with my experience. My daughters deserve the best, most compassionate, and attentive care WITHOUT judgment.

She gets strep a lot and I always know when her throat and tummy hurts, strep has made an appearance. They wanted to test for flu and mono and I declined because it was strep. They asked if I was a doctor. I'm not, but I've been a mom for two decades and I know my children. Recently we had an issue with one of our kids and needed a referral for children's. They refused. They said he hadn't had a well check since 2024, this was 12/23/25 so not like it's been years. They all refused due to the fact that hadn't treated him for the issue. You don't typically go to a pediatrician for mental health, but it's been noted in his files for years. We have a free insurance from my husband's work and they don't pay preventative. I told them when I checked in we would need to pay out of pocket. The lady at the front desk was super condescending and told me " all insurance pays for well visits". Later she came into the room and closed the door and told me I would have to pay before we left. Ummmm, pretty sure I attempted to do that before we were taken to a room. It's changed, my understanding was Byington became a doctor after being a nurse and wasn't happy with how her patients were being treated. Well, you aren't being treated well in her care. Glad to see the NP has left, best wishes to her. If a doctor doesn't care about the well being of a patient, it's a money grab. She would send us to children's for any minor thing, but refused a referral when it was a dire situation. I would find a doctor who actually cares about your child being alive.

On July 24, I was transported by ambulance due to dangerously high blood pressure, which paramedics could not even obtain from my lower arm due to severity. My BP remained critically elevated upon arrival at ETMC. I was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection and "stress/anxiety" and was discharged with a dangerously high bp 160/103 and without any antibiotic treatment for the UTI. The next day, I called the ER to clarify this, and the staff confirmed that I was, in fact, diagnosed with a UTI -- yet no medication was ever prescribed. I was forced to visit my primary care physician to obtain an appropriate antibiotic (Macrobid). This was a failure in basic medical care and patient safety. On August 3, I returned to the ER with worsening symptoms: fever, chills, rigors, full-body muscle stiffness, and uncontrollable vomiting. This time, the diagnoses were completely different -- gallstones, an umbilical hernia, and interstitial cystitis. Not once reporting pain, I was offered Tramadol, a narcotic I explicitly refused. Yet someone from the staff still gave me a foil wrapped Tramadol, "for later" and called in a prescription for Tramadol after I was discharged -- without my consent and without medical necessity. Cephalexin was also called in at that time -- well after the original diagnosis of UTI, and only after I had already been forced to seek treatment elsewhere. The physician involved in my first visit, Dr. B. Smith, was extremely unprofessional, dismissive, and rude. His behavior reflected a lack of compassion and clinical judgment, and he failed to provide even the most basic level of care. The diagnostic discrepancy between the two visits, and the delayed prescribing of essential medication, speak volumes about the dysfunction at this facility. This experience has left me not only frustrated, but genuinely concerned about the safety of other patients under your care. I will be choosing Christus Health for my future medical needs.

Those reviews do not reflect the ongoing experience of patients with complex needs who depend on this practice for consistent and reliable care. My experience tells a very different story. Communication at this practice is virtually nonexistent. There is no patient portal or app. The only option is a fractured third party phone system that rushes you off the call and does not route urgent concerns to anyone who can help. Over the course of three months I recorded zero returned calls despite repeated attempts. When I persistently requested an email address after being unable to reach anyone by phone I was met with resistance and hesitation. Once I finally obtained an email address every message I sent went completely unanswered. On my first visit the physician entered the room on his phone, spoke for approximately two minutes, did not review my full medical history, and never made eye contact with me. For a patient with a complex chronic condition requiring careful consideration this was not only dismissive but clinically irresponsible. On a subsequent visit he refused to communicate with me directly and conducted the entire interaction through his medical assistant, never speaking to me himself. My time at this practice was further marked by repeated medication lapses due to administrative failures that caused me direct and documented harm. Rather than receiving care and support I was met with indifference. On one visit I was seen by a medical assistant acting in the capacity of a provider with no licensed physician or nurse practitioner present and received no appropriate medical attention. I was subjected to coercive tactics regarding procedures I had not consented to and felt pressured to agree to treatments in order to continue receiving my medications. When I declined I experienced a notable shift in how I was treated. When I requested my medical records I was met with resistance and significant delays making it extremely difficult to transition my care and provide other providers with the documentation they needed to treat me appropriately. To make matters worse my Explanation of Benefits documentation shows that this practice owes me a refund due to an overpayment. Despite multiple attempts to contact them to resolve this financial matter I have received no callback and no acknowledgment. The same communication failures that affected my medical care have now extended to a financial matter they are obligated to resolve. The cumulative impact of this experience on my health has been significant and measurable. The administrative failures and lack of appropriate care caused me direct harm that affected my overall health and quality of life. The stress of managing these failures on top of a serious chronic illness compounded my suffering unnecessarily.
