After over a month of claiming my PCP hadn't completed my Dr' s Oder (referral), multiple phone calls, to my PCP and their office as well as Blue Cross (who repeatedly told me that it has approved a month ago) they then told me they couldn't make me an "evaluation" appointment for three more weeks. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. If you need Physical Therapy, this is the best place to go probably within 100 miles, maybe 200 miles maybe anywhere. Number one it's hard to beat experience. Dan VALLIE probably has 40, 45, 50 years experience as a Physical Therapist. Number two, Dan Vallie knows what is going on with your body, injury, recovery. He isn't guessing, he isn't trying to remember from a textbook what he's supposed to do, he touches your body. He watches your moves, and he knows what is necessary to help you recover to full strength. Number three, everyone gets lots of attention, everyone is well taken care of. Everyone is treated like they matter, everyone is important in this office. Number four, the employees, The employees watch what you are doing, the employees check on you often, the employees care about you. In other words, unlike most physical therapy offices, the employees are not on their phones, the employees are not gazing in the mirror, and the employees are not trying to impress each other. Everyone in this office is taking care of you The patient. This is maybe the fourth different physical therapy office I have been in in my 72 years of life on the planet. This is the only office where my recovery was more important than the clock. I could go on and on, but I promise if you come here, you will get good treatment, there won't be any mistakes by young inexperienced, Physical Therapists, You will learn about your healing, and you will be well cared for, I promise. read more

I have just completed two months of physical therapy for hip replacement at Athens Physical Therapy. It is unlike any rehab I have ever gone through and I have been a patient at several for various problems over the years. This place is the most client centered environment a person could ask for. From the minute you arrive in an environment that is more "home-like" than clinical, you know this will be different. A comfortable rocker awaits you in the waiting room with an explanation by Don and Renee of the benefits to the whole body from rocking in one. Each person you meet will treat you like a valued human being with full awareness that you are in pain and vulnerable at this point in your life. The PT assistants are all trained well and along with the physical therapists guide each patient through the assigned exercises. What surprised me was not only the skill of the practitioners and one-on-one attention I received, but the little things they attend to that are usually overlooked. One PT assistant noticed I had a sprained wrist completely unrelated to my hip, and called Don over who taped the wrist and gave me extra tape to take home. Don gave me lifts to put in my shoe until my leg length equalized. If I was having a hard day, they eased back on my work for the day and were very careful with me. They notice and they respond each time you are there to the state you in that day--asking if you need to rest or if they could get you some water. The center is holistic in nature and each time you come in, you are interviewed about your well being and the therapists consult on what will be your best routine for the day. Nothing is done by "formula." Part of the therapy is focused on balance and safety and Tai Chi exercises became part of my routine. Each new exercise that is introduced is carefully explained and demonstrated and a handout showing you what to do at home is supplied. At the end of each session, ice packs and electrical stimulation are applied in a darkened and private room while you rest and get ready for the trip home. Someone comes in to check on you several times and make sure you are steady and ready to travel at the end. While the center seems warm and friendly and home-like (the absolute opposite of most clinical, cold environments), the professionalism of the staff could not be higher--from the office staff who make appointments and handle insurance, to the personnel giving the therapy. The caring, personal approach and customer service contributes to the healing of each patient. I overheard on my last day there someone exercising near me say, "I just like coming here." Now who says that about rehab? As I said my goodbyes to my healing team of Mikayla, Annete, Renee and Don, they sent me on my way with careful instructions about what to do at home to continue my recovery. I could not have had a better hip rehab experience, and I give Athens Physical Therapy my highest recommendation. read more
