Consistent, clean, courteous! One of the best physician's in the area! You'd think they usually aren't very personable... not the case at all. Dr. Kelly McKerahan is extremely relatable and genuine. It's hard to find a fair and honest family practice that seems to care about their clientele. I'm sure he is a very busy individual, yet I never feel that I'm rushed through the whole process of my appointments. Also has a very patient staff that 9/10 answers the phone the first time I reach out to the office. If not they will return my call reasonably quick. Went here twice. First visit went ok. Second visit I had to walk out. To get a referral for mri of hip I was being FORCED to get an annual exam. You can not with hold medical care because you want to preform an annual exam. I reported to insurance and medical board. Time to find a new doctor again. read more

Dr. McKerahan is awesome! Both my husband and I are his patients. He literally sits down at your level and listens to what you have to say. His professional but down to earth. My first visit with him was on St. Patrick's day, and he greeted me with green highlights in his hair and a fist bump. It was my first time at the office, I actually thought the office staff was very helpful. Every time I called or left a message, I was called back and received great service. It's the Dr. I have an issue with. I came in for an extremely sensitive issue, needed a refill on antiviral & pain medication given at the ER and a referral to see an OB...he made me feel like an addict for even asking about a refill on the pain medication and just seemed arrogant in the way he spoke to me about it. There was no exam done and he did not ask the severity of my issue nor did he ask whether or not I was working or what I did...I work for myself and have been off work since Saturday due to being unable to walk, sit or stand for longer than a few minutes (I'm hoping to be back by Monday) I also can't care for my 9 week old and have had to have family with me also since Saturday. I'm a chronic pain massage therapist and holistic wherever and whenever possible. My pain is an 8/10 and CONSTANT. I have done everything I can at home to ease the pain...it's not enough. I just need to get better and get back to work. He was presumptuous and condescending with poor bedside manner. I don't recommend him as a PCP and I obviously won't be back. I'll probably end up back in the ER for something stronger than the Tylenol extra strength he suggested. read more

Let me start off first by saying that the nurse was very cordial, kind, and professional. I called and left a message to become a new patient. I was expecting a call back within a few days at least which I did not get. I emailed asking to become a new patient. They did email back, but said that they would be getting back to me shortly. Two weeks went by and I finally had to go in person to the office to request a new patient appointment. The front office staff made me feel like I was intruding on their day and well they are professional, which I was very glad of, there's not much personality there. I made my appointment and came back a couple weeks later. I checked in and I was in the waiting room, talking jovially with a fellow patient and laughing. I did not think we were very loud but the lady at the front window slid the window closed like we were bothering her. We both looked at each other and went wow. When I finally got to see the doctor, I wanted to talk about menopause as I'm almost 60 and I'm having issues with that. His advertisement said that he specializes in senior care and I thought, great he can be of help. My main concern was hot flashes and Weight gain. And he told me that, "you know what to do just work out and eat right". Seriously?! He sent me out for lab work which consisted of checking my hormone levels and my iron level. There were no test done for Cholesterol, A1c, etc. Now you would think with the new patient profile you would get all those tests. When I called back to have my lab results read a week later the front office lady said everything came back normal. I asked her. What about the menopause? Her response was "you're in it". I was dumbfounded. There was no offer of making an appointment to talk about it with the doctor to relieve my symptoms. I ended up going somewhere else that I'm very happy with. Be wary. read more

Dr. Kelly McKerahan's staffs provide very poor service. They are rude, and unprofessional. They do not want to serve minorities and Dr. McKerahan's staffs discriminated against me (I have an accent and with an Asian last name). In January 2023, I called to set-up an appointment for a physical check-up. The Clerk that answered the phone at the extension 101 (Appointment Line) told me to go on the website to fill out the New Patient Form, and then call back to set-up the appointment. I did the Pre-Registration, and then called the next day to set-up the appointment. The same Clerk answered the phone, but told me that she had to call my health insurance first to verify my eligibility, and she would then call me back to set up the appointment. However, the Clerk never called me back. I did not hear from her, so I called back several times, but all I got was the answering machine at extension 101. On February 15, 2023, I finally dialed extension 105 and asked to speak to the manager, but the Clerk hung up on me. I tried to call back, but the Clerk would not answer the phone. I have never encountered something like this before. Dr. Kelly McKerahan's staffs are rude, behave unprofessional, and blatantly discriminate against minorities. read more

He treats me like a important family member at each visit and spends time making his patients feel completely informed. . . Dr. McKerahan is a fine doctor. If one could work directly with him, all would be okay. Unfortunately - there is his staff. The are a nightmare. They don't answer the phone. They don't return calls. They don't communicate. They are EXTREMELY RUDE and seem to know little if anything about medical questions/concerns. Just a bunch of rude remarks and blank stares. Always. For years. It has NEVER changed. Horrible staff. Kind of unbelievable actually, as this has been going on for a long time with no change. That's where Dr. McKerahan is to blame. By going with this rude staff - the face of his office, he is saying his patient experience means nothing to him. I was recently diagnosed with a heart condition where by it is important I monitor my blood pressure. Very important. I was at the grocery store and checked my pressure with one of those machines - and it came up very high. I was concerned, but thought the machine may be off a bit, so I went to the doctor and just asked if they could quickly check my blood pressure. They said no, you don't have an appointment. I explained the situation and that it would only take one minute, and they rudely said, NO, you don't have an appointment. Go to the emergency room!: I said, can't you just check? The emergency room co-pay is $200 and that machine at the store could be wrong. It will only take a minute! NO, YOU DON'T HAVE AN APPOINTMENT! PS - There was NO ONE in the lobby. Not a soul. Uncaring, robots, no compassion, and unknowledgeable staff. Extremely incompetent. A nightmare. I'll NEVER go back. read more

it is never easy to leave a negative review for a business, but when your left no other choice & it is the best interest to warn other potential patients so they never experience what you've had to go through in the last three weeks then you take the time to leave the review!!! Even more so when it pertains to the medical field! Unfortunately, this doctors office has gone down a lot in the last two years. I know every doctor office has changed and everyone is super busy and people are getting more sick, but with that being said I have been trying to get into the office for a very important appointment after already going to urgent care and emergency room (since MY DR won't call me back) and when they do it takes over 48 hours for them to return your call. The staff is not patient, nor polite, extremely rude, and a little condescending when you're trying to explain what's going on. Once they actually make the call back they have the wrong information and all they can say is we have to talk to the doctor and then we will call you back so you are stuck WAITING again. Here we are now three weeks later & still waiting!!!!!!! Forget it if you have to call for a refill or are really I'll!! Leaving this Dr KM office and will never look back!! hands-down the absolute worst experience I've ever experienced in any doctors office in my 30+ years! The GOOD news in all of this is I found a new doctor in the same network and I have an appointment TODAY and I was able to make all of this happen in less than 24 hours!! Although we love Dr. McKerahan I've got to give the office a One-Star. I'm not sure if Dr. McKerahan is actually as busy as the office makes it seem or if they're just too lazy to take on more patients per day since the few times I've actually been able to see the doctor there's been only one or two other patients in the office. It seems like EVERY TIME I've tried to make an appointment, the doctor can't be seen for at least a week or two. It doesn't matter the time of year or the urgency or the appointment, the office staff is short on the phone and quickly tell you there aren't any appointments available for at least a week before you can even tell them why you need to see the doctor. We're originally from Orange County who has not only the best medical staff but you get seen within a day or two and immediately if it's an urgent matter. It could be that we're just used to that type of service, but needles to say I'll be looking for a new doctor for my entire family because this isn't cutting it for us. So if you're looking for a great doctor and can foresee an illness 2-3 weeks out, try Dr. McKerahan, otherwise find someone else. read more

Very poor incompetent staff running this office. I am so frustrated with the care my elderly parents recieve. I am ready to make some reports to the State Board! Very poor with following through with SERIOUS lab results, referrals or procedures. My mother lost 46 lbs in one year without trying and come to find out its due to blood loss. The office staff will say they fax or take care of something, but didn't. I've had more than one facility or pharmacy reporting "no response" from Dr Mc Kerahans Office so when the staff says, " We haven't received or we sent it." I know it's a LIE! I have been a patient here for almost 15 years. I called to make an appointment for a physical and they tell me I haven't been there in 3 years and that I need to establish myself as a new patient with an appointment before I can have an appointment for a physical. Needless to say I am switching Dr.s. My wife went to a Dr. for her first time and received a full physical without having to establish anything. I couldn't me more disappointed with their attempt to create an extra visit for $$$$. read more

Office is easy to find, and the doctor speaks to me as a person in a way I can understand-not in medical terms I don't know. I take my kids and my husband there and we always get AMAZING HEALTH CARE!!! His staff is the same way! Yeah! Horrible personality. He only allows one issue per visit, and this was during a visit to establish a new primary care relationship. He refused to discuss medical history or recent blood work. When I asked for a prescription for an asthma inhaler as he was rushing out the door, he begrudgingly wrote one, but it has zero refills. Since this visit I had a second back surgery. My insurance requires the primary care physician to write the prescription for physical therapy. He refuses to write it unless he sees me, because he needs to know my condition. My surgeon has sent him surgical notes, etc. he just wants money. I just started driving two weeks ago. It's not like I could have been to see him in the last few months. I concur with others on Yelp. He is one of the worst physicians I have ever encountered. Rude would be a compliment. read more

After reading some of these reviews I have to laugh, if you are unsatisfied and have been seeing Dr. McKerahan for years, why did you not change doctors long before writing on Yelp? My husband and I are more than pleased with not only Dr. McKerahan but his staff as well. I value his integrity and the fact he is NOT willing to cheat the insurance companies and bills according to THEIR guidelines. No impressed at all!!! never have I had such an impersonal experience with a dr. He was not willing to give me my required shots to leave the county because it was too expensive for him. He discussed money issues with insurance companies. He said he may have to wait up to 6 months to get payed back on this. So he suggested I go else where. Like a free clinic. What kind of dr does not give shot because he did not want to wait to get paid back? Is he that hard up for money in his practice to wait a few months for his reimbursement from insurance companies. I don't get it. Not to mention I felt a bit judged on my young appearance. I'm a 30 year old adult that works hard at taking care of my family, yet because I have visual tattoos on my arms he made a remark about them and his face said the rest. Not very professional to me. I have never written a Yelp review but felt I had to after this impersonal experience. This doctor advertises himself as an alternative doctor with Christian values but I didn't see any of that. I came in clearly upset with random weight gain, fatigue and a possible thyroid issue. He quickly jumped to running a blood test and then looking at depression. I do not want to go on any pharmaceuticals unless I really need them so I told him I wasn't interested in synthetic thyroid or antidepressants and asked what other treatment options he had. He seemed frustrated that I asked him that and never gave me an answer. He only said to eat less sodium for weight loss. I was tearing up in the appointment from frustration and he didn't even acknowledge it. Terrible experience! read more

Dr. Kelly McKerahan has been my doctor since I was 8, and I love him. I have only ever had two other doctors when I moved out of state and that was when I realized that not all doctors care about you as much as McKerahan does. Don't get me wrong, he'll get on your case if there are life changes you need to make to maintain better health, but as a doctor that is his job. I would be concerned if I had a doctor who didn't care. He has follow through will any and all specialist that he sends you to and makes every visit feel personal. He has never pushed medications on me like some other doctors who have their hands in the pharmaceutical money jar. I have never felt rushed in one of his appointments like you can in other offices. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the front staff can be on and off. Like I said, I have been going there for many years, so I have been through different office staff of his. Some of the girls are amazing and very kind. However, you can run into the eyes rolling, sighing, impatient ones as well. I just ignore them and go see the doctor. read more

SUB-STANDARD CARE HERE !! WORST doctor ever. Horrible service, poor communication, lack of follow-up, arrogant, inconsiderate, terrible communication, un-professional, disrespectful, HE HUNG UP ON ME!!. I spoke with Dr. McKerahan today to follow-up and discuss my brother's recent lab results (pre-diabetic and high cholesterol). His staff failed to call me when they said they would, and the doctor had little to nothing to say regarding my brothers pre-diabetic condition. I told them that he was also completely out of the three meds that he takes. The doctor said, what meds does he take, I am not in the office. He also said that eventually the pharmacy would have called to fill the prescriptions, thanks allot doc. I had to go online to look and see what steps he should take to reduce his risk for type 2 diabetes (exercise, lose weight, eat healthier). All he said was I am sorry your not happy with the service, and what do you want? I said how about some basic courtesy, respect, follow-up, service and communication. He said your welcome to switch doctors if you want. Not once did he take responsibility. Then he hung up on me. Thanks allot doctor McKerahan. Not sure if my brothers meds will be filled or not. Save yourself some grief and heartache, and do not go to this doctor. His license should be revoked. And their outgoing message says God bless. What a poor witness if he is a believer. Just saying. Furthermore my brother has mental illness, so he won't even understand why his doctor is so bad at his job. I am sure I'm not the first or the last to experience this horrible service. I see nine other posts that all share the same common experience with this doctor, he sucks! (and his staff does also). Switching doctors asap. Totally incompetent. 1 star is being overly generous, there should be a negative rating for this one. Everything that you don't want in a doctor. Not impressed. 1st appt., I was told that he didn't do exams on the 1st visit. Fine, I wasn't sick but was recently diagnosed with s premature cataract (due to an injury) and wanted a referral to a particular eye doc. He just sat there with a smirk on his face and said he didn't refer to him and gave me a different guy. Fine. I went to him and was satisfied. Then I called him several months later asking him for a requisition form to get an urinalysis due to frequent urination. Was told I needed to come in and see the nurse and pay a copay to get it. I asked why I had to come in just to get the form. I was told that I could just do a "virtual visit" by paying a copay, then he would give me a req. form. Pretty sure that's illegal. Dr. Mckerahan and his staff do not care about you and are absolutely awful. Appointments are always weeks out. its easier to win the lottery than to be able to have same day or next day or even that week appointment. I promise that your immune system will work faster than you can get an appt. The Doc only works till 3pm so you will have to lose a days pay if you actually do get to see him. After hours care is not available all patients are referred to urgent care, and you still don't get a quicker appointment. Even if the prescriptions are available over the counter they still want the ability to charge your insurance company for a visit. i have had him as my primary care doc. for 5 years and just try not to go. Isn't that awful that i would rather suffer through sickness then have to deal with him and his staff. i have had better trips to the DMV. Please Please do yourself and family the favor and do not use him as a Primary Care Physician. if you have a choice with your insurance, keep flipping through your physician workbook. He was horrible. I lost 25 lbs in 3 weeks. He told me to eat ice cream. 5 min after I told him I was lactose intolerant. He was no help and totally uninterested. I thought he was a jerk and felt he thought my visit was funny. So sad doctors like this make so much money. We changed our insurance and needed to find a Primary Care doctor. We had our first appt with Dr. Kelly McKerahan for my husbands knee pain. I thought at first this was going to be a great experience because the office was small and seemed more personal. I was wrong! I went in with my husband as this was our first visit and wanted to get a feel for the new doctor. First off - he never addressed my husband to ask about his knee but had his assistant read the notes she had previously taken - they acted as though we weren't even in the room. THEN he finally addressed us. We were basically told to get an xray to see what was going on but since we were there for our first visit my husband also addressed some red spots on his inner forearms asking what they could be. Dr. told us we could get a biopsy on it. He never got up off his chair to even take a closer look and joked about dealing with one thing at a time. REALLY????? I then asked about some of our prescriptions and I'm glad that I did!! He stated that he would NOT write them because he doesn't deal with psychiatry. We would need to find a psychiatrist for them. I asked if we could have our medical records sent there for his review of the meds. Again - NO I don't deal in psychiatry! We will be finding a new doctor. Most HORRIFIC experience I have ever had with a Doctor and Office Staff. I felt as Dr. Mckerahan was very disconnected to me as a patient. He hardly took any time to really listen to the problem I was having, cut me off and just prescribed me meds and sent me in for Xrays of the incorrect body parts to mention. Office staff is extremely rude, and has no knowledge of answering any questions. I also had the reception glass shut in my face while proceeding to ask a question as the office clerk just walked away. When I asked to speak with the office manager or Dr. Mckerahan they said they are not available and would relay the message but I never heard back from them. I have never in my Life felt like I have been mistreated by a physician or office staff until going here. Dr. Mckerahan promotes that he is a "chrstian" man yet you walk into his office and I felt discriminated against. My insurance company has gotten involved and they were also treated rudely over the phone by the Office manager Vinny, and their Medical Assistant Sandra Franco. Both the insurance company and I have filed reports against the office of Dr Mckerahan. I am pursuing further action against this poor excuse of a "Doctor". read more
