What impressed me wasn't just what she said, but how she said it. She was firm, professional, and respectful, even thanking him for taking the time to bring his glassware up. She enforced a boundary without embarrassing the customer or making the interaction uncomfortable. That's the difference between simply doing your job and being exceptional at it.
