This was our choice for Mitchell. It's actually one of our nicer stays. The room is nice, but had not been fully cleaned by housekeeping. Food in the refer and debris in the bed covers of one bed. The website says it has a fitness center but it is indefinitely locked. There is a indoor pool, but tonight it was full of kids. Tomorrow's promise is a full breakfast. We ll know in the morning. The other bed and the shower seem fine. read more

Booked through Booking. 2 different rooms had dead bugs in the bathroom and around doors. Smelled of mold/mildew and overpowering bleach. Requested a new room and same thing but this time had dead bugs in bedding. Refused to stay. Requested a refund and they would not accept. Asked for help through booking and they were not able to get one either. Spend a little more money and go to the Quality Inn where it was clean and bug-free. read more

Front lobby reception very nice, clean room, and safe location, but extremely noisy. Don't expect a quiet nights sleep, it's almost as if there isn't any insulation in the walls or ceiling, very very noisy. Otherwise a good stay. Our stay coincided with the Sturgis bike rally which probably contributed to the noise. read more

We booked the Kelly Inn for our wedding and had a block of rooms. Worst mistake ever. Virtually every wedding guest was told they couldn't find their reservations, some waiting over 45 minutes just to check in. Very rude front desk lady, keys continually not working, fire alarms going off 3 times in the middle of the night for no reason. Guests given rooms that were already occupied or the a/c wasn't working in over 100° weather. A $25 fee to check in early but it had to be in cash. When bringing up issues to management we caught her in a lie several times and corporate wouldn't return our calls. Half the amenities in the suite we booked didn't even work. Very disappointed. This caused a lot of extra stress for us and our guests. read more

Nice lobby, smells great when you walk in. We were on the 3rd floor. It smelled a bit weird when you exited the elevator. The room was comfy, but nothing special. Cute, kitschy decor. Eggs at breakfast were terrible. Wet and yick but lots of cereal, bread, waffle type options. Stuck with yogurt personally. read more

Loved spending the night at this little gem! The check-in was easy and friendly. The room was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. The lobby and breakfast area were clean and so nicely decorated it felt like staying in a lodge! read more

This was our 2nd stay at this hotel over a period of years. While the first stay was good, the front desk man on duty this time was horrible. Though we had a reservation, he had trouble locating it , then when we asked for a first floor room he tried to dissuade us by telling us it cost more--it didn't. There was hardly anyone staying here but he was rude and behaved as though every question was a huge bother ( maybe 2 or 3 questions). One question was to request a recommendation for dinner for Mexican food. He said one had opened across the street but he hadn't found anything he liked. Some recommendation!! To be sure when we travel through Mitchell again we will choose a place to stay that is actually welcoming. read more

Ok I travel a lot and always stay with the Hilton Family. Not tonight. A friend booked this for us and it will do but I would not stay here again. Ok so problems are as follows. 1) Heat wave and air is not on in the room. It's hot as hell in the room. 2) Place has a beautiful look in lobby but it stinks and the lobby is hot 3) mold and mildew around tub 4) Hole in tub. 5) did I say my room is hot as hell. 6) watched five people wait over 30 minutes for someone to show up to front desk Other than that room is ok. A lot of kids. We are on 3rd floor and it's quiet. That's definitely a positive. Bed is comfortable but it was so hot in room at check on we went out for a while to cool off the room. 3 hours later and room is still hot. AC set on 60. Let me snap some pics Ok so it's Friday night. I will update tomorrow. Ok the bed was comfortable. The floor was quiet. The room never cooled off. I woke up sweating. We had three rooms in our party and everyone said exact same thing. It was hot. Breakfast was included and It was fair as any complimentary breakfast would be. Not somewhere I will stay again. read more

Its right off the highway infront of a Walmart- what more can you ask for? We had a decent size studio suite with two queen beds, a twin pull out and a fridge. The staff was really friendly. Breakfast was a yogurt, muffins and applesauce. For $135 I have no complaints. It also came with a pool and a Jacuzzi. read more

I had to wait in the lobby for ten minutes before an employee showed up to check me in. The lobby looks great until you really look at it, then you notice it's rather shabby. The first floor rooms have a door onto the hallway and one to the outside, which is nice. The bed was very comfortable, but strangely the fitted bottom sheet didn't cover the whole mattress. The light over the sink flutter and never fully came on, the toilet ran for 40 minutes after a flush. In the same trip I stayed at a Quality Inn for about half of what Kelly Inn charged and was nicer! read more

This place is easily the best spot to stay in Mitchell, Matt at the front desk is a great first impression, and the place is so comfortable. It's not like the chain places that just want to get you in, they really appreciate their guests and take care of them better than most other places. I won't stay anywhere else when I am in Mitchell. The rooms are as comfortable as the building looks, and I can't wait to be back! Also, maybe my favorite part is the DirectTV boxes in the room. I travel a lot and am used to the old remotes where the volume button barely works, the DirecTV boxes blew me away! read more

This is a charming, but dated, lodge themed hotel. We had a small issue at check-in where the room originally assigned to us hadn't been cleaned (sprite on the table, food in the refrigerator, the bed had clearly been slept in) so we had to get it swapped. Our next room was very clean but you could tell everything was a bit dated. The bathroom counter was slanted, the shower liner was organelle, standard older motel issues. The pool and hot tub though are lovely and the staff is great. With a little TLC, this hotel could be great. read more

We've been staying at the Kelly in for the last 10 years each time we've passed through South Dakota. The quality of the hotel has continued to go down to each year and last week's stay is probably the last time that we will stay there. It's obvious that the hotel has suffered some sort of water damage recently. Immediately upon entering the hotel your nose is overwhelmed by the smell of air freshener in the entryway, so much so that it's almost unbearable. The affect of this is that it deadens your sense of smell so that you can't pick up on the musty smell that's in the rest of the hotel. Other clues in the hotel are the fact that there are signs underneath each of the fire sprinkler heads in the room requesting that you not hang clothing items from the sprinklers otherwise it will cause a flood. Also, portions of the wallpaper are peeling and it looks as though the room has new carpeting. But it's when you come out of your room the next morning and go down to the lobby that the musty smell really hits you. The grout around the bath tub was filthy and the popcorn ceiling in the shower was peeling off. The beds were comfortable though, so if you can get past the smell, you'll sleep just fine. As for breakfast, your choices are extremely limited. For cereal, the choice to was plain Cheerios or plain bran flakes, so if your kids were hoping for some fun cereal, they might be out of luck. The donuts were artificial flavored and no better than the kind you would find in a gas station. There was only one functioning waffle maker, which created quite a wait for anybody who wanted one for breakfast. Whatever was sitting in an inch of water in the hot chafing dish looked disgusting, so I had to pass on that and ended up eating a banana for breakfast. It's sad...this hotel used to be a real gem, but I can no longer recommend it because of the smell. read more

The Kelly Inn and Suites is a good place to spend the night in Michell. The rates are reasonable, the rooms are neat and clean, the staff is friendly and the motel is located close enough to Interstate 90 to be convenient yet far enough away to be quiet at night. The motel is within walking distance of the big Cabella's store and just a few blocks drive from The Corn Palace. To top it off, the Kelly Inn is pet friendly too! read more

This inn is so sweet. I love the decorations and the staff were incredibly friendly. Our room was clean but had an odd smell to it and the sink did not drain properly leaving a pool of water. The ceiling over our shower was also peeling. Some minor things, but getting those two easy maintenance items fixed would bring this place up to a 4 in my opinion. Great value. And free brekkie in the morning. read more

Traveling across the country with my family and pets (2 lg dogs & a cat). We've been in quite few hotels and traveling with pets can be expensive, but not here! The Kelly Inn is an amazing value! We got a family room (2 queens, micro, fridge) for $115, and that's including tax. No pet fees - the entire hotel is pet friendly. You get free high speed Internet, pool & hot tub access, and continental breakfast, although it's pretty basic (waffles, muffins, bananas, etc), with no gluten-free options. Our room was spacious and clean. We enjoyed our short stay and would definitely stay again. Oh, and the staff was friendly, too ;) Again, great value! read more

The room was OK, although dated and showing wear and tear along with the rest of the hotel. The bigger problem was looking at my credit card statement after our trip and realizing that if you book this hotel with reservations.com, they will charge you an extra $20 commission to book the room! I contacted the number given on my statement and it was disconnected! I then contacted reservations.com and they told me it was a $20 commission for booking the room. In addition, he did not offer any remedy for this issue and I will not be getting that $20 back. I am very disappointed in the service. Had I known I would have called the hotel direct. Also, when you book this hotel, you have no idea that it is reservations.com because they do not identify themselves as such. read more

We really enjoyed our overnight at Kelly Inn! We reserved by phone with a sweet clerk named Rachel. We asked if the pool was warm and she did not know. I teased her about going to put her foot in to check it out. She didn't think she could get away. When we checked in she had already gone out of her way to see if it was warm. The pool was wonderful as well as their big hot tub! Our room was clean and the bed was like sleeping in a big comfy feather bed. read more

Desk clerk very nice. Rooms cute and good size. Expected a full sleeper sofa and not a twin. Hot tub full of children. Pool and lobby full of drunks waving Coors cans everywhere. Parents encouraging their young son to urinate in the hot tub. Just disgusting!!! We gave up and returned to room. Need control in pool area so everyone can enjoy. Would have given 4 or more if I could have used and enjoyed the amenities for which I paid. read more

Unexpected overnight in Mitchell. Make many phone calls and this was the only room I could find because of a huge softball tournament that was going on. I was very pleasantly surprised to find a nice room, clean and spacious. The front desk person (Peggy) was very friendly. During a snow delay on a road trip from WI to CO, my friend and I were forced to stop overnight in Mitchell, SD. Booked a room here on Hotels.com for ~$80 on a Thursday night. Would stay here again if I'm ever in the area. read more

Lodge decor. Front desk, Devon, was nice. Would stay again.

we found bugs in our beds, along with hair and stains. all rooms smell horrible. mostly of smoke.

Fantastic! Driving cross country with my sister we stopped, a little hesitant to stay somewhere we've never heard of. But we're so glad we did! There's carved wooden bears climbing on railings outside rooms and holding up benches inside, and save for the bison we felt like we were home in the Adirondacks. The room was wonderful, clean, cozy and oh my god the beds! So comfortable:) The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially the gentleman working the continental breakfast. I have to give a special thanks to both Teresa and Dave for going way above and beyond to assist me with my list valuables. I had already checked out and drive 7 hrs before realizing I left behind my lap top and very important documents with secure info. Very cute and clean. Best value yet on our cross country road trip. The staff is professional and courteous, the room is spacious and tasteful. All the amenities that a road tripper could ask for. We really liked this hotel! The rooms were clean and big. They offered a nice continental breakfast in their beautiful lobby area. Speaking of the lobby, it's huge stone fireplace with gigantic elk mounted above really says South Dakota. They accepted dogs and had plenty of outdoor space for us to walk around. In fact, there is a large park-like area and lake across the street. We were very comfortable... so why not five stars? Well, my only complaint is that, sadly, the jacuzzi tub jets were dirty and stained. ew. read more

Not too bad for the area. Large rooms, ground floor rooms have an entrance both inside and out. Free WiFi and free carbohydrate-only breakfast.
