We had an amazing stay at the Hampton Inn and suites in Mitchell! Stayed and enjoyed room 302 a king fireplace suite which three adults slept in very comfortably. The beds were super comfortable and the room and entire property was extremely clean and friendly. The staff is super friendly and the customer service is amazing. One of the best run and efficient Hampton Inns my wife and I have stayed at. Everything just worked well and we were in our room in no time after arriving. Our overnight stay was pleasant and quiet. We had seen a billboard on the interstate earlier in the day hyping their WiFi and waffles. The wifi worked very well and we had our choice of two types of waffle mix along with a pair of irons to make them for breakfast. The waffles were good but not great. A little soggy for my taste but perhaps their recommended cooking time is conservative to prevent burnt waffles. Parking is in a large somewhat shared lot with our businesses but no problem finding a space. The hotel location is right next to the interstate and a little noisy but not bothersome. read more

My stay at the Hampton was fair enough yet not good enough to discourage me from looking elsewhere. The staff is courteous, the facility clean yet it's ready for a bit of a facelift. My room was a bit more dark than I prefer and the bed was ok. Breakfast was good. The location, while easily accessible from I-90, allows for a noisy night due to traffic. The price was higher than I would have expected given the dated feel and small town of Mitchell - guessing summer rates are north of those to be found in winter. I'm not often in Mitchell and unaware of options, yet may or may not return. read more

Solid company with good properties in general. This specific hotel is clean and the staff are very professional. Only thing that needs attention is maintenance in the bathrooms, make sure toilets are in proper operable condition. On my stay the flushing handle was not working as it should, difficult to push and the toilet seat lid doesn't stay up. That aside, the place is great and probably the best in town. read more

It's relatively clean and the room smelled and looked clean. Breakfast was good and the attendants were friendly. Front desk was friendly. It's very loud however. You do hear everything--inside and outside. I personally thought this hotel is overpriced for how dated it is and because it had some mildew in the bathtub, a chipped toilet seat and vanity, etc. Not a bad hotel for a night to two. read more

The Hampton Inn in Mitchell is a good stop. It's close to I-90 but still manages to provide quiet accommodations. Nearby are a variety of convenience stores and a Cabela's outdoor store. The world famous Corn Palace is only a few blocks up the street. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast was good. We'd stop here again! read more

Another stop on our eventful road trip. After dodging three crazy pheasants and two horny deer (yes, they were indeed having sex on I-90.....who knew a highway would be an ideal romantic location to make cute fawn?) in the middle of the night, we decided to stop driving and rest. It was not worth risking our safety and sanity for the sake of getting back home on time. Stupid iPhone was taking too long to pull up nearby decent hotels to stay (there is no way in hell I am staying at someplace named AmericInn....with a missing A in its name). So, I called my sister and asked her to find a hotel for me stat. This was 11 pm mountain time, meaning 1 am in NJ. Needless to say, she was not pleased. But, being the good and bossy sister that she is, she obliged and located a Hampton Inn at the next exit. Later I came to know, she just called her Hilton service agent and asked them to find a hotel (being a platinum elite, or whatever it is that you are called when you spend 4 days of the week in a hotel for work, is indeed helpful). Surprisingly, the hotel was almost full. All the rooms with single king size beds were taken and we had to settle for a room with two queen beds. Not bad. The room was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable, a huge change from the Country Inn and Suites we stayed at the night before. We both slept peacefully. The morning breakfast was good. Standard fare of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, toast, etc. My man was super happy because they had a huge tray filled with assorted donuts. He was jumping up and down like a little kid. A decent place to stay on I-90 if you want to rest and avoid hitting animals in the night while driving. read more

Paper thin walls and doors with light streaming through the cracks allow you to hear everything going on around you. I heard my neighbors, the trucks driving by and every slamming door in the place. Worst nights sleep of this cross country. The only reason this place got two stars was the friendly and helpful staff and a clean room. Until these issues are remedied, I would stay somewhere else. read more

This place has great customer service! We spent three nights on an extended road trip and felt right at home. The front desk receptionists are all incredibly helpful (like beyond what most people would do kind of helpful). The rooms are great, quiet (even with a facility full of kids and wedding go-ers). The food service staff make even a mundane breakfast seem like a treat with their witty and thoughtful signs describing the food items. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Ok Hampton, needs more seating and more breakfast staff. I went to back area to get more syrup, as for more waffle batter and to ask for more juice. This was from the conference room down the hall as there is limited seating. Medium size pool for a Hamton. If you have kids 4-10 I'd recommend the Holiday Inn or other pools in Mitchell that have slides or better indoor items. read more

Rooms were immaculate. The women who cleaned the room always greeted us with a smile and just seemed to really care. Swimming pool and sauna were clean. We've stayed at luxury hotels around the world. The Hampton Inn is not one of them. But this is not a criticism. On the contrary, we were extremely impressed because this hotel gives you what you need and more than one expects for the modest price. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. The double queen beds were comfortable and clean. The bathrooms featured a long counter top with two basins. Most economy lodging and many expensive places give you little space for a family to share. At the Hampton, a family of four can spread their stuff out on the counter and under it without crowding each other and piling things up. Every family can appreciate that value. The morning breakfast buffet is convenient of modest. The staff is very friendly. The location is convenient for the family roadtrippers -- right off the I90, near a surprisingly good Ruby Tuesday's restaurant, and of course a short drive from Mitchell's main attraction -- The Corn Palace. Again, Hampton Inn not the Four Seasons and that's the point. A nice, clean, spacious, friendly place to stay on your way to South Dakota's attractions. read more
