3 stars means "adequate" to me. Adequate. Took off a star as I thought some more about it. Loved being in the accessible room. Laminate floor. No carpet. Shower hose. Bed was fine. All pillows were lumpy. I was exhausted so I basically slept. Glad I could do that. I left the air unit blower on, and the fan in the bathroom on for noise filtering. Before I had done that, I could hear vocalizing from the adjoining room. (Not actual words, but I could hear they were talking.) My dog pooped in the foyer on check in. The gentleman was very nice and I cleaned it (I insisted). He took the rug and washed it. And mopped the floor. He was super nice about it. A star for this. + Parking was super convenient. It's a motel and he gave me the last room on the lower hallway and pointed where to park. So I did. Super convenient. + Good ice machine. Good fridge. (The door on it wouldn't shut without careful attention.) Back Hallway stunk. So bad. Hard to breathe -. (Minus a star.) Back door kept locking - had to figure out to push the red button in order to unlock it to let me out - (minus a star.) That red button should be labeled. Or - better yet - have a door repair person come and change the way it closes so someone inside can push the bar to get out, but someone outside needs to use a key to get in! Problem solved! Front door was a pull door instead of an automatic door. So inconvenient when carrying luggage and misc. to check in! Get an automatic door! - Room was clean. Toilet flushed well. Sink didn't bother me. Usually hotel sinks drive me bonkers. This one must not have because I don't even remember it. Shower was adequate. Loved the shower hose. Shower curtain was installed correctly. The bath mat folded on the tub had something weird - something black on top of it. Fur? Lint? Dried blood? And hidden under the soap. Hidden. Suspicious or lazy. Artwork over the bed was nice! read more

Clean, basic hotel room. Busy due to night before opening day but check-in didn't take long. We never use the pool or slide but would probably be good for kids. Breakfast leaves something to be desired, the coffee machine is annoying and doesn't make great coffee but a lot of smaller hotels have gone to the brew on demand automatic machines. They had fruit loops and yogurt which was nice. Seems like an odd time to repaint a hotel in the heart of pheasant county, but they were in the middle of repainting some of the common areas. Have stayed here before, will stay here again. read more

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over multiple years and it is declining poorly. Now run by a mostly Indian family (son takes the school bus from the hotel each morning) the property is in a really old condition. It is hard to understand some of the staff, and they do not speak English when talking to one another. Carpets are actually sort of sticky. Hallways are dirty. Towels are not white anymore. The bath fixtures and furnishings are all from the 80's. At least the TV was good in my room although they had to replace it the first day. There is no elevator for the second floor, so be prepared for stairs if you have luggage. During my stay the fire alarm went off repeatedly for almost 2 hours one night. Only half the hotel evacuated on the first instance. By the end of the night the hotel staff had disconnected the entire wiring of the system and the backup battery. Good to know we had no fire alarm system (even though it was apparently broken). They said it was fixed the next day, let's hope so. The breakfast was the same every day. It was not bad, and while the least amount of time was spent keeping the breakfast area clean (I only saw staff once), it was acceptable. In summary, you will save $30-$50 a night at this place vs. the newer hotels on the other side of the I-90. But you are getting a lot less than that. It might be fine for 1 quick night on a journey, but not for multiple nights as I had. I hope the new management doesn't just keep milking the old cow that this hotel is. I hope they refresh it without jacking the prices to the moon as some other hotels have done in the area. read more

This entire hotel needs to be remodeled. Even the rooms that are newly remodeled, need to be remodeled again. The furniture is old and dated. It is all worn. The bathtub had been patched and looks disgusting. I only gave it a two star rating because the personnel are so awesome and the morning breakfast is ok. I would never stay here again. I most definitely have bed bug bites from staying in this hotel for one night. Disgusting!

The rooms are decent, the bed was very comfortable. They have free WiFi, breakfast in the morning, and pool with water slide and hot tub. We stayed upstairs so it was kind of humid from the pool. Overall not a bad hotel could be nicer for the price. read more

This hotel was horrid. Disgusting rooms. Unhelpful staff. Sleeping life guards. Just plain ridiculous. We checked in earlier in the day so our boys could swim and go down the slide, not one person mentioned the the slide didn't open until 5p and then the life guard was slow so it didn't open until 5:15. We had to spray fabreeze when we got there because the room smelled disgusting. One of the beds was broken. We found pizza crust between the mattress and the wall underneath the pillows, making me wonder if the sheets were even changed. I found a phone in the same place from a previous guest. This was all discovered the next morning after losing an earring in my sleep and trying to find it. The same morning when the life guard was sleeping on duty and hair was found folded up in a towel. All we got from the front desk was "Sorry." Will not ever stay here ever again. read more

Not enough parking! We were pulling our camper and there was no place for us to park, so we ended up parking in front of the dumpsters. The room was not very clean, lamps were stained and dusty, bathroom was nasty looking, microwave kept breaking, and the bedding had a few stains. Now this one isn't a big deal but the pool closed too soon, after traveling in a car for hours it's nice to relax in the pool or hot tub, but when we checked in they told us we had 30 minutes before it closed. The only part of the room that was updated was the sink. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the beds were comfy. read more

Stayed here on our way back from Mt Rushmore. For 79.00 it was a good deal. Clean room, pet friendly, gracious staff. We had checked a location down the road and they were terribly rude so we moved on, glad we spent our $ here. I read a review that said no shampoo or conditioner complimentary, we had 2 bottles of each in our room plus they have a sign on the vanity saying they want you to have everything you need, if you forgot something just let the front desk know, they have several toiletries available at no charge. If I could give this place less than one star I would. The room was dated and unclean with dirty carpets and questionable beds. Mold in the bathroom and the AC smelled of mildew.I am handicapped but was forced to take a room up two flights of stairs with no elevator. The worst part was the gas leak that we learned about from the Mitchell Fire Department and not the staff. The entire hotel was flung out into the night as the Mitchell Fire Department had to flush out the gas from the building. We were not allowed to access our room for a considerable time while the building was made safe. Breakfast was laughable, dirty counters with flies. We ate breakfast at McDonald's as the breakfast area was unclean. When we asked for a refund we were laughed at. I would not stay here again. The building is unsafe with escaping gas, uncleaned rooms and totally inadequate to the handicapped. Don't say that you weren't warned if you choose to stay here. read more

I was recommended this hotel by a bunch of dumbasses I had no trouble checking in and it was easy to find. First night,The room did not have any bugs. I spent the entire following day at a baseball tournament. My room did not get cleaned. I found some chewed gum in the reservoir of my in room coffee maker. I did not expect that,asked the cleaning staff to revisit my room. I asked the front desk to get the staff to make another attempt at servicing my room. I will never be back. read more

We stayed at the Days Inn in Mitchell, SD with the understanding that it is a two-star motel and should expect only the essentials. Unfortunately, it disappointed us in its cleanliness and in other areas, which is why I only gave it one star. As for cleanliness, the environmental control cooled the room sufficiently but left the room feeling dank. The floor was noticeably damp and dirty, which was confirmed by black stuff that came off our feet in the shower. When I mentioned this to the staff they made a polite excuse saying only that it must be due to the hot and humid weather. Given the non sequitur of their logic, I chose not to make the obvious retort that the point of AC is to cool rooms and remove humidity. Finally, the comforters on the bed were stained in multiple places. A motel such as this off a major interstate (I-90) is bound to have lots of travelers, vacationers, and families moving homes. Given the many people in the parking lot with cars full of luggage and home items, I was disappointed that the Days Inn didn't have a single luggage cart to help move items into the rooms. The movement was further complicated by the antiquated keycard system that operates properly in about one out of five swipes. Trust me, it's more than slightly aggravating when hand-carrying heavy stuff inside for multiple trips. While the staff is good-intentioned (I think), they were also unhelpful and unapologetic about the lack of services in their motel. If passing through again, I would select another hotel even if I had to pull another $20-$30. read more

The lady at check was not friendly and didn't even smile, the room was nice and the breakfast was good. I was awoken by housekeeping staff which was having a morning meeting in the hall outside my room, however the manager was kind enough to send me a small check for my inconvenience. They need friendlier people at the front desk after a 12 hour drive and have a housekeeping meeting elsewhere so it doesn't disturb their guest. read more

Stayed here multiple times when I was in town and never had a problem. But I will never stay here again after the way that the nighttime front desk lady treated me. For starters I stood at the front desk for at least 20 minutes calling the hotel phone and being patient for somebody to even come out. Finally walks out of a back room almost like she was sleeping and then went on to be the most rude front desk person I have ever dealt with. What a terrible experience. My husband and I stayed here on a return trip from the Mayo Clinic. The hotel itself was acceptable, but not impressive by any means. The staff members, however, were absolutely unprofessional and, at times, downright rude. The staff member who initially "welcomed" us was in the middle of eating, and literally sprayed the counter with crumbs from her hands. I didn't even want to touch the pen she handed me. Gross! I don't know how old or new this hotel it but for the price it was worth it. As soon as you walk in it was a strange smell. Don't know if it's from the smoking rooms or moisture from the pool. The room was as clean as it could get it needs some updating. It had a variety of tv channels including hbo so we were able to watch our shows. They only give you 4 wrist bands for the pool use. We were visiting so we wanted to bring our nieces so the adults ended up sacrificing the wristbands for them. I should of broke the rules since most of the people in the pool didn't have wristbands on. The kiddie pool needs to be fixed. The ground is rough. It feels like your walking on rocks. The complimentary breakfast was good. The French toast toast was really good. The room had a phone, microwave, fridge, coffee maker and hair dryer which in most hotels you would have to ask for.
