    Amazing Bathroom

Great stop while traveling. Very clean and quiet, beautiful sunsets, dog friendly, and the cleanest and nicest campground bathrooms that I've ever seen. Fast wifi too. Extremely nice people - a staff member thought I looked familiar and called me handsome, so he clearly has good taste. If you're in the area, go here. It's a great find.

Large mature trees, and camping spots.

Park is a bit tight, (large mature trees create possible clearance issues and tight turning areas) and amenities are sparse. General store is essentials only (toiletries etc). No activities, power tripped several times, and no onsite maintenance available. Had to run generator until an external electrician could be called and no eta was provided. (Electrician never showed so could only run 1 AC unit for the 45 ft bus) If you have a small 30 amp rig, less then 30 foot, and your looking for a quick overnight stop this would be sufficient. Office staff did do their best to get someone in to resolve the issue, and did offer later in the evening to move me to an electric water site, however we were fine with the generator / monitoring electrical usage.

What a fantastic small-town KOA! This was my first experience with a KOA and I was beyond satisfied with this site. The owner was extremely kind and kept the store opened for our late arrival. We had a nice grassy spot for our tent, we met incredible people, the bathrooms and showers were clean, the wifi was pretty quick, it was in the middle of a field and we got to see the most incredible sunset... Overall, I highly recommend this KOA!

Mitchell KOA is a very nice Journey KOA in Mitchell, South Dakota. Away from the noise if the main interstate in a very nice wooded campground. I was warmly greeted be Jim, the owner who told me all the information regarding the campground. We were escorted to our site and settled in for our overnight stay. We had a great view of the open fields and some cattle. It was right in the heart of "corn country" as we passed beautiful fields of corn near by. During the night we had a downpour with heavy rain and thunderstorms. Kipper doesn't do well in bad weather like that, so it was a hard night for him. Up bright and early the next morning and on to Mount Rushmore KOA Resort and Village. We really enjoyed our stay and on our way out stopped in the Ladies bathroom. Oh my gosh, it was beautiful and so well maintained. Bright and cheery, and clean. Cute signs everywhere. Thanks Jim and Jerry, the owners for taking such pride in your KOA!! Waved to Jim on my way out and thanked him myself.

    Summer sunrise

Nicely spaced out campgrounds with separate men and women showers. Very clean and "like new" facilities. Would want to come back just to see that sunrise again!

This is the perfect campground for a mere overnight stay or, if you have the time, for just unwinding for a while. Between the putt-putt and pool, there's really no need to go to town for entertainment for the day. The owners are in the process of renovating the bathrooms, and ladies, they are definitely catering to our love of exotic and stylish with their bright tile sinks from Mexico and other decor.

Loove these sinks so much color

Stayed here for several day to visit with sister from Kansas, we came in from.CA. Was such a nice location, and campground. The owner was nice and helpful for this campground and when.we made reservations, talked to him about other trip we were making, and he suggeseted restaurants there in.AZ! Very knowledgable, helpful and keeps great campground. Loved the ladies room so original for SD. Plus we were able to visit Corn Palace. Yeah check off bucket list. We also went to Sioux Falls. We also had opportunity to pick and be eat cherries awesome

Site #26 is also pretty nice, and is a pull thru site with full hook-ups. Showers and restrooms are pretty darn clean for a city run campground. Dog friendly, and there are plenty of trails to walk your furry pal on. No cable, but Mitchell does get 3 local channels via antenna, and it's so pretty here you're not going to watch much tv anyway. WARNING (and why this review is only 4 stars): If you're looking to stay here to enjoy the lake, forget it. The lake is pretty gross and full of blue-green algae, so DON'T plan on swimming. Or leting your kids swim. Or letting your dog anywhere near it. If your only interested in the view, the trees, and a nice quiet place to chill out, it's still worth it, IMHO.

There was a list available to see which sites were reserved, though it was a tad confusing because it wasn't in what we thought was a logical order. But we found a site without any neighbors and got set up rather quickly. If I remember right we paid about $30 for our electric post site. The campground was pretty quiet despite being just off the business loop and on the lake during a holiday weekend. The next morning we had to pack up right away, but not before my daughter enjoyed a hot shower in "the cleanest campground shower ever" (she's 14, so picky) and we got ready for the day in the *very* clean bathroom. This was very much appreciated after two weeks camping on BLM land with only a pit toilet available! We spoke briefly with the owner who told us she's managed it for the city for just a couple years and is still working on upgrades, but I thought the bathrooms were great as is. We were very satisfied, and if we could have stayed longer we would have made use of the lake and playground.

This campground did not have water or sewer, only electric, which is odd but for two days, it would not be a problem. Voilà, campsite setup! I loved this campground and this location. Absolutely. Would we come back? Absolutely, I am trying to figure out a way to pass through this part of South Dakota again. Informational: We travel in a 36' Class A RV.
