"Let's ask Sue" is our new mantra for all of our decorating needs. I'm being total honest. We…read morerecently went shopping for new master bedroom furniture and décor and my wife and I got totally overwhelmed with the myriad of choices available. Dazed and confused from a long day of wondering around all the big box stores and being stalked, we finally stopped in White House Living. We walked into an amazing showroom that had unique pieces throughout. We stopped in the doorway not knowing if we should go inside (and be overwhelmed, again) or run! Then Sue greeted us. Having told her about our day, she reassuringly sat us at her desk and talked to us, not at us. She asked about style, color, functionality, and budget. Her repour eased and focused us. With her many years of design experience, Sue is very efficient in her approach to the process. Her advice and guidance were invaluable. She met with us for the afternoon and helped select furniture and accessories for our bedroom. "Let's call Sue" We had such a pleasant experience we decided to meet with Sue for our living room and dining room remodel. We built-up such a nice relationship with Sue that this time went smoothly. We had paint color anxiety and Sue said: "well you have a beautiful grey in your bedroom, how about this color? It's called Griege." Perfect match to our new floor. On to the furniture. Easy-peasy! All the designers at White House Living are pleasant and approachable. You can tell they truly love designing. As they walked by they would stop and discuss our selections and give their advice and speak honestly. "Shopping" at WHL made us feel like part of a design team that collaborated to make our decisions easy. No more big box stores for us. We will always go back to White "Home" Living and Sue!

This place is amazing. A total find…read more My wife and I were looking for a dresser for our toddler's room. We didn't want something generic from pottery barn/ikea/etc. but were also discouraged to find that any vintage-style dresser of any decent quality was outrageously expensive. Lo and behold, my wife stumbled upon a posting for Vintage Lane on our neighborhood blog and we decided to check it out. We were so thankful we did! Not only does Carrie and her partner, who own the store, have great pieces, they are remarkably affordable. We found the perfect-sized dresser for our toddler's room and Carrie painted it for us for an extremely reasonable price (she also had to spend a lot of time getting the stain just right on top, so it was no small job). The piece came out looking fantastic. If you like vintage-style furniture (e.g. annie sloan /distressed/Brooklyn flea mkt/etc.), this place is for you. You'll find beautiful dressers/sideboards/cupboards/mirrors/etc. that are far more affordable than comparable items you'll find in any other stores/fleas. Also, the folks who run the store are exceedingly friendly and willing to work with you to make sure you find exactly what you are looking for. We will definitely be coming back.

I am remodeling a family owned apartment in Manhattan from scratch…read more I was trying to pick out paint and had been to Benjamin Moore probably ten times. I was at a loss. I contacted Allyson from A and R and she agreed to meet with me in her store and assist me. I brought with me samples of the remodel tiles, fabric samples etc. She spent a good deal of time with me and also showed me a special paint line of BM I didn't even know about. She came up with the perfect colors. Then I was able to go down the street to the paint store she recommended me to to buy samples. I bought the 3 paint colors to NYC today and they were perfect. The furnishings in her store are different and beautiful and I will be back when I am at that point. She is a very talented decorator and very easy to work with as well. So, thanks a million. Best of all, they listened, captured, and implemented our design needs and style. When possible they worked with items currently in our home. Our first project, with A&R, was redecorating a room in which they added to the existing furnishings. The proportions of the furniture are perfect and they knew exactly where to put that special piece. Additionally, A&R has been very helpful with our remodel. Allyson had many great suggestions and assisted in avoiding pitfalls during the construction process. Sometimes it's the small details that really give your home that extra special touch. Communication throughout the process was great. During the design process, we were shown different options both at our home and the A&R showroom and were able to understand how everything would work together. Having an open floor plan, it was important that the colors were able to tie into other rooms. We were updated on manufacturer production schedule, inspection, and delivery. We have been very happy and look forward to using A&R again!

They don't respond or compensate for the mistakes THEY make. They have not refunded me for money owed to me for doors they could not complete. Completely unethical business. STAY AWAY! I can only speak to the Wayne, NJ franchise, but surprised that their headquarters would allow this. My experience with Perfect Fit Closets and Doors in Wayne, NJ started in November of 2018. I had seen an ad and reached out to them for replacement interior doors for my home in NJ. They offered a compelling solution which required little construction, quick install, and custom sized doors. This caught my eyes as I had purchased a 1960s home and preferred not do rip out all the doors/trims/frames. I placed my order on Nov 25, 2018 for 16 doors in a Beveled Shaker 2-panel, of which 12 doors were standard doors, 2 doors would make up a French closet doors, and 2 separate barn doors. The total order amounted to around $5k. I was told the order would take 4-8 weeks to get the doors in. After MONTHS of waiting (putting on temporary doors for at least my bathrooms), I finally get a call to come install on Feb 25, 2019...3 months from the original order date. The guys come to install, and realize that one of the foyer closet doors were missed, the upstairs hallway closet French door was mis-measured, one office closet door was brought but not installed, and that the barn doors could not be installed for whatever reason. Billy, the guy I was working with re-assures me that he will correct the issues. They come back on March 13, 2019...they attempt to install the barn doors. They end up drilling several (unneeded) holes in my wall, shimming out the barn door hardware, not leveling the tracks (causing the doors to open/close on their own and not stay in place) and the doors barely fit the two openings; one of which is a bathroom, and you can see into; completely defeats the purpose of a door. The barn doors were completely measured and installed wrong, not taking into account overhang of any sort. And to top it off, they don't have the doors for the other doorways that were previously missed and they didn't install the office closet door that was already there! I tell Billy that I am unhappy with the barn-doors and that I will have someone else take care of them (as they were unable to figure it out). Billy comes back and measures the entry foyer door and the upstairs hallway closet French door. Fast forward to October 24, 2019 where after months of following up, the remaining doors arrive (7 months later). The entry foyer closet door is just fine, the install the office closet door. But...the upstairs hallway closet door is still sized wrong and does not fit. Also, overall the attention to detail is not there. The hinge pockets in many cases were cut wrong, the lockset plates were not recessed in (causing the door to not close easily), and their carpentry skills are messy. In addition, in all of this, I had to hound them over phone and text, never got responses or calls, or reassurance in anyway; terrible customer service. Also unless it is a simple door replacement, they have no idea what they are doing. The failed on the barn doors and they failed on the doors that were previously bi-fold and were made solid doors. I've now asked for a refund for the upstairs closet French door, and the two barn doors and associated hardware and as of November 8, 2018, they have yet to provide me a response. I have a pretty good understanding of home renovation and have done several homes but never have I dealt with a vendor so TERRIBLE as this one. I really hate writing negative reviews but this has to be the worst experience I've ever had. THEY CAN'T DELIVER and THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. PLEASE stay away from this company if you want a completed project. I had a year go by with family/friends visit my new home to see missing doors on closets and rooms; what an embarrassment.
