I must say that his design is working so well. He managed to work with our contractor (Diamond Construction) and we got a lovely functional home that everyone is impressed with as soon as they walk in. You don't even realize it is an addition. John has quite strong ideas about flow and how the house should function. We did have our own ideas (of course) but in the end we used most of his and they worked out great. In the actual build, things got modified for how structure was, things that can't be predicted and it all came out seamless. Very happy with John and the new house.

The modular addition was a great approach and Christian was a highly responsive contractor. We added nearly 1000 square feet to our house, and only had to spend a weekend at a friend's house, saving us a TON of money (if our addition would have been built onsite, we'd have had to rent an apartment for a longer stretch). We tried a number of contractors and really were met with very sketchy folks, scarce referrals, and questionable estimates - and that's if they got back to us at all. Christian called us back EVERY time, was straightforward with what costs would be, was spot-on with our estimate, and though time ran a bit longer than promised, there were hiccups in the process on our end and on theirs - and really, with any large project, you have to expect that. Throughout MCS was honest and transparent about it all, which we really appreciated. We love our addition, and MCS still checks in with us after over a year to see how things are going. In looking at the other review, I'm left wondering if they were realistic about all that goes into a big addition. With any large project, you have to have some expectation of complications If you are looking for someone who will be responsive, honest, and not disappear in the middle of a project (I've heard nightmare stories about other contractors) and really diligent in following up, MCS is all that and more. I can't say enough about how happy we are with their work.

Our just-built home overlooking the Hudson River and Manhattan was like a fresh canvas waiting for a talented artist. Marissa was that artist. While she did a fantastic job designing our living room, dining room and home office, what stands out the most is our rooftop bar and outdoor entertainment area. Marissa instinctively knew the indoor/outdoor space was destined to be designed as an upscale coffee lounge by day and a relaxing bar lounge at night. She drew inspiration from commercial spaces to feature a pergola outdoors, rich emerald-green tile with brass accents indoors, and custom seating for about 40 people. Everyone is in love with this space. Each evening, we're treated to a spectacular view that reflects a golden glow on the city's iconic skyline. This place brings us so much joy and peace. Marissa did a wonderful job renovating our 8,000-square-foot second home. She and Ariel were so thoughtful in their approach to this major project. They knew my husband and I were busy with our jobs and family so they limited the amount of planning meetings, always responded quickly to our questions and requests, and handled everything we wanted them to. Marissa and Lauren lovingly designed our space to reflect our interests, like adding rowing and nautical items and creating artwork from my favorite scarves. When we wanted a large TV in the living room, they fully redesigned the fireplace area below it, extending the hearth and mantle and updating the materials and the flooring to make it feel more balanced and centered. Marissa has been nothing short of amazing while working on my apartment. I wish there were more than 5 stars to be able to give her...but I'll try and explain. She has been professional and always has gone above and beyond. She keeps me posted on the current project and if I am not home, I trust her enough to come in and handle what she needs to handle. It took us several years to find the right lot at the right price but we knew the old home had to go. We lived two hours away so we needed a knowledgeable, trustworthy design team. That's why we chose Design MACS. They fully managed the new build and everything that went into it. From the floorplan and finishings to all the furniture. There are so many special touches in our modern farmhouse home, like the dramatic, dark walls and runners on our staircases and the light oak coffered ceilings in our family room and kitchen. Marissa went above and beyond for our bathroom needs. She completely redid the design of our master bath doubling it in size without taking down walls! I did not think this could be done! She also assisted in coordinating with the contractor and made sure everything from the location of the vanity to the location of the toilet paper holder were perfectly measured and functional! I was 9 months pregnant during the end of our construction and her organizational skills helped minimize my stress level throughout the whole project. After reading the reviews, I figured this would be a good place to comparison shop. Best decision I could have made!!! From the moment I walked in, I knew this was an amazing business. Everyone was super friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Another very important point for me was that there was absolutely no sales pressure. That's a HUGE plus! Long story short, I had received a quote for over $46,000.00 for the cabinets I wanted. This quote did not include any extras like pull out tray/drawers, lazy susans, utensil cabinets next to stove, etc. The price I ended up paying for all of the same cabinets from the original quote from the other guy plus additional cabinets, special pieces, drawer pulls, lazy susan/utensil drawer/pull out trays/drawers, etc. was just under $21,000.00!!! This price was for the exact same manufacturer (Fabuwood) and same exact color as quoted by the other guy...That's a $25,000.00 difference! (If my actual cost seems like a lot please note I got an insane amount of cabinets/pantries, etc.) Also, I don't know how I was so fortunate as to work extensively with Furkhan, but he was incredible throughout the entire renovation process! Despite the fact that I knew what I wanted for our renovations, I knew nothing about the actual process/details. Furkhan was pretty much available 24/7 and spent an endless amount of time with me going over every detail, making sure I didn't miss anything I might need, and answering my never ending questions. He took the time to learn exactly what I wanted and went above and beyond to ensure the desired results! He also came up with ideas that seemed minor but ultimately made the difference between me really liking my kitchen to absolutely loving it!!! (I still just look at the kitchen when I walk in and smile at the results). Another huge plus was that he worked seamlessly with my contractor and everyone else involved in the project (plumber, appliance place, etc.) to ensure the smooth flow of every aspect of the project. Even when I had a small problem with an outside vendor, he took care of it for me and made sure it was resolved immediately. He kept on top of everything going on and kept me updated accordingly. I cannot possibly thank Art of Kitchen Tile & Bath enough for all their hard work. Everyone who has walked into our house cannot stop talking about how beautiful it is and about the quality of the work! And I can never thank Furkhan enough for his insights and suggestions and handling the project with such professionalism as well as following up on every detail to ensure the incredible results we achieved! This is by far the longest review I have ever written. But they are by far one of the best businesses I have ever dealt with so I have to share this information!
