Disappointing experience with Kellco and would never recommend. We had the interior of our house painted - 3 floors - a pretty big job for us. They charged $775 per day and estimated 2 weeks. The quote seemed steep but we were willing to pay for quality work. We soon realized that charging by the day only benefitted them and totally screwed us. The crew consisted of 2 men. They showed up on time but always left early. A couple of occasions they left around noon. I'd think it would be honest to charge half a day if you only worked 3-4 hours. But nope.
Additionally, the quote specified which rooms were to be painted. One evening we went over to the house and saw the painters had spent the entire day painting a room we specifically asked not to paint. When we raised this with the owner he said we wouldn't be charged. But we were.
On another night, we went over to the house and noticed the exhaust fan for the stove was unplugged. When we plugged it in, we realized that the painters had broken the on/off knob when they climbed onto the stove to paint the cabinets. Then instead of letting us know, they unplugged the exhaust fan to hide their mistake. When we asked the owner about it, he blamed the flooring guys..... right... your guys climbed onto the stove that day to paint the cabinets and somehow the flooring guys who were there to stain the floors broke the stove knob? The owner adamantly refused to accept that his men broke the on/off switch. Adamantly. Since we had no evidence, it was our loss for hiring a dishonest business. Oh, and it was a Jennair stove. So yah, pretty upsetting.
After the job was completed, we expected the owner to do an inspection of the job with us. We had noted **lots** of areas where the painters sloppily dripped paint onto our newly stained hardwood floors, where they sloppily got paint on our wine cabinet, bannister, bathroom counters, windows, dishwasher... we took photos and were hoping to address with the owner so they can clean up the mistakes. That never happened. Instead we get a call from his office saying we owed more money because they painted 3 additional rooms - that were not on the original quote (because we asked them not to paint those rooms).
Listen, if you did the work, we're not going to stiff you. But, kinda felt scammed into paying for something we didn't ask for.
Finally, we noticed that the painters had gotten paint on our garage door. We sent photos to the owner. He gave some excuse that he was busy but would come by in a few months to fix. It's been a year. I'm not holding my breath for the owner to develop a conscience.
Overall, despite everything that happened, we would've let it go. Except the work quality was below expectation. It's only been a year and the paint is peeling in several area. Peeling after a year?!! Definitely not worth the money, not worth the frustration, not worth having my nice stove broken, not worth having my hardwood floors sprinkled with paint drippings.
Since our experience with Kellco, we hired another company to paint our garage. The quote was for the job, not some garbage per day so we can stretch the work and screw you crap. The work was clean, no paint drippings on the ground. And the owner painted the garage himself! Which meant we had someone who cared, do the work. Not the case with Kellco. read more
