Rightfully named The Dome Bar since it's... well... shaped like a dome lol. This bar is the main hotel bar for the Paso Del Norte hotel, it is a sight to behold in the daytime and then at nighttime. Whether it be a same day visit or a multi-visit experience, it is perfect for a pre-drink before going to a show at The Plaza or a just because outing. Reservations are not needed and there is first-come, first-serve seating around the bar. I've been there a few times when they have a pianist playing songs in the background. It's a bonus touch that I really admire. The drinks are pretty solid and they also have beer and wine for folks who might not want a stiff drink. I also love their take and approach when you ask for a non-alcoholic drink. Service can be five-star or servers can get a bit caught up with regulars (as with any establishment). Drink prices can be a little pricey; however, this is an absolute must for anyone.

It was pretty chill which I liked. The place was also really clean. The waitress we had was nice and friendly. She checked on how we were doing a couple of times. She did disappear for some time but eventually came and checked on us. I liked her personality and the service she gave us. They also have a pretty good menu of beer and a signature drink menu. Some of the drinks are named after El Paso landmarks...for example a Scenic Drive. Now for the not so good... Unfortunately, I didn't see any of the employees wearing masks. I didn't like that too much. There was a sign on the door that asked for patrons to wear masks upon entering. I ordered a margarita flight. Sad to say...I didn't really enjoy it. The drinks were overly sweet. I like sweet drinks but this was too much. I didn't taste any tequila in them whatsoever. I don't like margaritas to be too strong either. I want to be able to taste the mix and tequila together. There has to be a balance of both. I had to ask the waitress to bring me a couple of shots of Hornitos. It still wasn't enough! I could still taste the sweetness in them. I didn't even get a little bit buzzed and...I've sort of become a lightweight drinker these days! We ordered a pretzel and wings. The pretzel came with cheese and mustard. The wings came with French fries. Both entrees were too salty. I couldn't eat too much of either. One minor detail was the music they were playing. I kid you not...one minute they were playing heavy metal music like Pantera. The next song they played after that was "My Heart will go on" from "Titanic" and Celine Dion. "The Thong Song" was playing a bit prior to this. Really?? I had a little flashback of partying it up in Juarez for a few minutes there back in the late 90s, early 2000s. If you know you know...If you're from El Paso, you definitely know. Lol. I realize they just opened this second location a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps there are still some kinks to work out. We all know this usually happens when a bar/restaurant first opens. Would I come back? I might. I often believe in giving second chances. I'm interested in trying that Scenic Drive mixed drink. You'd hope for a welcoming neighborhood spot, but this felt more like a hostile "locals-only" club where if you don't fit a certain mold, you aren't welcome. This happens several more time at other spots and at other tables and with other patrons. Lots of empty tables, lots of empty drinks and young guys and girls making false claims to tables. In my opinion, all those false claims could be alleviated by just having a busboy bus the empty drinks, and suddenly no claims can be made. It's been 90 minutes and not one busboy has gone to bus any empty drinks. And lots of standing claims are still being made at empty tables. The young people seldom are even making trips to the bar to buy new drinks or fill the bartenders tip jars. Only tips in the jar right now are the tips I have left behind. Music is good. Ambiance is decent.
