This is second time I've walked in, spent time and never once was smiled at, greeted with a hello or ever asked if I needed some help. Wandering yesterday (after 1 hour drive to get there), with fabric samples in my hands, I was totally ignored. Zeez, I was nicely dressed, smiled at the woman sitting in the back area on the phone and then not on the phone, but she still ignored me. Other woman was helping someone & then she was 'free'. Totally ignored. There is a total dearth of fabric stores in Pinellas & Hillsborough Counties now and Sarasota has one fabric store. Me, no longer playing this game. Road trip to Atlanta is on my horizon as there are at least 3 huge fabric stores just in downtown alone. The first impression was like it was a kind of land fill , but in fact there is a lot of furniture in a pretty good condition and some sets of china looking not too shabby. The place is hard to walk around because of the chaotically placed items. Pricing seems weird - a tray with floral magnets for $10 (!!!) a piece or $17 for 2. Didn't ask about prices for the furniture though. The ladies mentioned in previous reviews are not there and the store is definitely in decline and disarray. But if you have time and energy and pick a cooler day, you may be able to find really nice things.

Did you know that Michael's does parties?…read more My daughter wanted an arts and crafts party. I found Michael's through google. How convenient! A two hour birthday party with 8 kids was only $149 (base). They could order in Dominos pizza if you want to really minimize your effort. They provide plates and cutlery. They can decorate with balloons for an additional cost. How easy a birthday party is that? I ordered a few platters from the Publix across the parking lot and a cake (don't forget to bring a cake cutter and lighter as Michael's does not supply those). The girls had fun painting three projects and then getting to have a mid-afternoon snack and cake from Publix. Their parents were thrilled to be able to drop off their daughters with the hostess (Maria, a saint) and me while they got to run errands in Britton Plaza or return home for a couple hours. And at the end of the party, Maria did most of the cleaning, so all I had to do was gather the leftovers to bring home and load them and my daughter's presents into the car. Easiest. Party. Ever.
