Did you know that Michael's does parties? My daughter wanted an arts and crafts party. I found Michael's through google. How convenient! A two hour birthday party with 8 kids was only $149 (base). They could order in Dominos pizza if you want to really minimize your effort. They provide plates and cutlery. They can decorate with balloons for an additional cost. How easy a birthday party is that? I ordered a few platters from the Publix across the parking lot and a cake (don't forget to bring a cake cutter and lighter as Michael's does not supply those). The girls had fun painting three projects and then getting to have a mid-afternoon snack and cake from Publix. Their parents were thrilled to be able to drop off their daughters with the hostess (Maria, a saint) and me while they got to run errands in Britton Plaza or return home for a couple hours. And at the end of the party, Maria did most of the cleaning, so all I had to do was gather the leftovers to bring home and load them and my daughter's presents into the car. Easiest. Party. Michael's has been a go to of mine for years. From my scrapbooking phase to baking supplies and holiday decor, there is always something cute to get at Michael's. This year they were one of the first stores to put out Halloween decor. While I found the groovy Halloween collection a bit too bright and colorful for my fall vibes, I did snag a ghost holding a pumpkin to add to my collection. read more

We have been to this store twice this week, first on 11/17/24 & next on 11/19/24. On our first visit 11/17/24 we had a great experience with Becky who was kind and very helpful. To the point that we finally opened a credit account with Michaels. We returned two days later 11/19/24 to purchase more Christmas items which were still marked down at 50% off. We went went to the register in order to check out and pay for our purchases and were greeted by a cashier with red and purple hair with a piercing through her nose. Her name is Danni. As Danni was ringing up the items it was coming up as 40% off instead of 50%. Danni did not want to honor the signs that displayed 50% off and said that the 50% off did not start until 11/22/24. Nowhere on the signs was there a date reflecting when said sale was going to start. We did not have this issue previously on 11/17/24 with Becky. Another young slim employee with reddish hair came up to the register and told Danni to honor the 50% off. Danni had already begun to display an attitude with us from our first approach to the register. While ringing up the items it seemed like Danni was duplicating inputs and when and when she told us what the total was my wife questioned her because she felt the total was incorrect. The total that Danni told my wife she owed was $142.00 and that is why my wife questioned it. She next yelled at my wife "What more do you want, lady!" and threw the items on the counter and told her manager, Emilio, to take care of my wife because she was done with her and just walked away. The store had quite a few customers that I am sure were in dismay at Danni's actions. Danni's actions made us question her anger towards us and as Latins questioned this being a racial discriminant reaction. An assumption based without fact. Her display of anger was not warranted towards us as customers and that no one should ever experience regardless of right or wrong. When Emilio, Danni's store supervisor, re-rung the items, the total came out to $91, a difference of over $50 which Emilio acknowledged that she had incorrectly priced our items. Also, my wife had presented a $10.00 coupon to Emilio and when she checked the receipt it had not been applied. Emilio then told my wife that he would have to re-ring everything up in order to apply the coupon and at this point my wife was almost in tears from her experience and just wanted to leave the premises of this store and told Emilio to disregard having to re-ring up the order. The humiliation that Danni bestowed upon my wife was completely unacceptable and uncalled for in front of so many numerous customers. She was rude and has anger issues and should not be dealing with the public. Robert S. read more

This place is a joke. The sales are ridiculous. Why don't they just price things at a price that they would make money and be done with the games. I had a custom framing job done here and when I went in to drop the picture off framing was 60% off. When I came back to pick my picture up framing was 60% off plus another 20% off. I asked if they would do a price adjustment as I was picking it up that day it would've been at least $40 cheaper with the current sale. I was told I should watch the sales and no they do not do price adjustments. read more

I love coming into a craft store. Although I am that person who envisions a beautiful piece of artwork. My end result always comes out looking, sh.#*y. It's not Michaels arts and crafts fault. It's just I suck at putting the picture in my head onto paper. Even though I flop at every craft effort I've ever tried. I still have the balls to pull up a Pinterest and try again. I love walking down every aisle and picking up random things. There are so many great pieces someone other than myself could make. Regardless of not ever finishing my project, craft or artwork. This is good Michael's location. It is always pretty well organized and fairly clean. My only gripe with this Michael's (and possibly all Michael's stores) is how long it takes for someone to assist you. For the most part when I stop in I am looking for something specific and can generally figure out which section to find it in. I also do appreciate the price scanners around the store as it allows me check the price of something without having to find some one or walk all the way to the registers and back. The best thing about Michael's are the coupons! I never visit this store without first checking my email and their website for coupons. There is always a coupon and you should never shop here without for checking the available coupons for that week! They have a great selection of art supplies, jewelry making supplies, baking supplies, knitting, holiday decor and home decor! read more

I don't always shop at Michael's, but when I do it's always for a good sale or special gifting reason. This location is nestled right in the heart of Britton plaza on South Dale Mabry. Currently at the time that I am posting this, they have a huge clearing out sale for their Christmas Decour and gift items. 80% off on average (While supplies last). They always have such cute things here for your home and of course crafting accessories. I usually see some great ideas for gifting or home decorating. I have only been at this place only a handful of times a year. Each time that I've been here, the store has been relatively well organized and stocked. I haven't had too much experience with the staff here as most of them on my visits are usually at the checkout counter. This is based on evening shopping experience though. read more

A helpful employee indicated to me that I could get coupons for anything in the store if I signed up for their app and text list. I did that and came back a few days later and used my 40% off coupon for a very nice frame that really completed my collage that I otherwise wouldn't have bought. I'm pretty much a planner nerd so anytime washi tape and planner supplies go on sale I get all giddy! Today I specifically went in scrapbook supplies. Which I found what I needed after a little searching. From what I can see the store was clean and pretty organized. It was a little frustrating to have scrapbooking things mixed in with photo albums. It took forever to sort through and find what I wanted. Brittney (cashier) checked me out and what a sweetie she was! She knows what she's doing with customer service. She was kind, helpful and knowledgeable. This Michael's is located in such a convenient plaza. Marshall's, Burlington, Dollar Tree, Stein Mart & Publix are all neighboring stores. Three strikes and you're out! We recently took the picture we bought in St Lucia on our honeymoon to their framing department. What a disappointing experience. Strike one, we picked up the picture and it was missing the glass! Strike two, once we got home and tried to hang our picture the hardware was not placed in a location that allowed it to be hung flush on the wall. Strike three, they positioned the hardware on the correct part of the frame, but unfortunately when hung it would be upside down. The most disheartening part was the lack of apology or any atonement offered by the staff. Once I spoke to the manager she did apologize for my inconvenience. In the future we will make the drive to other Michaels or other businesses. On the positive side the picture is beautiful! read more

Michaels has everything I ever need for crafting. The sales are always great and I get coupons when I buy. Recently I received a 40% off a single item. I came back and they took it off my highest price item $38, which is a great deal. I love the framing. Although they provide coupons, it is still pretty pricey for a custom frame. There is a great jewelry making selection for some filler beads if you tend to buy stones elsewhere. These plastic beads are nice and there is usually a deal on them, but over all they are cheap. The scrapbooking section is always a favorite. There are usually good deals on sheets of paper you can find for 10 cents marked down from 50 cents. Be sure to stop by the week of and after holidays because everything is usually 50% off. Also never get a custom frame without getting a coupon. Usually they have bogo deals. read more

Whatever I can't find at Pearl Art Supply store on Hillsborough, I can usually find here about half the time. If you're into crafts, you'll be in heaven here. They have art supplies too, but their focus seems to be on craft related projects. I always try to go here as much as I can because I usually find something interesting that I can use on a current or future project. I've made many accordion style books, and a clam shell box that involved some of the diverse paper they offer. Michael's would be almost perfect if they offered book binding supplies. So far I haven't been able to find any place in Tampa that offers such. I was told they carried book cloth by a friend, but a worker informed me that only certain Michael's locations offer it. (sad face) Despite that, it's one of my favorite places to shop and a place worth checking for those into arts and crafts. read more

One of my absolute favorite stores in the neighborhood! This large store offers plenty to keep anyone from the occasional crafter, to parent to the advanced creator busy. Their large seasonal selection also makes it worth coming back often, you never know what you may find. I was surprised to see all the Christmas items out already since I visited the day before Halloween. I always love going into this store. It makes me want to be more creative. I feel like the aisles should be labeled though for what they have specifically but they do have it labeled by section at least. There are always good sales on items for upcoming and past holidays. Me and my friend had her craft birthday party for her two children at Michael's and it was absolutely wonderful! They were extremely helpful and made it very nice for the children. You can choose from a variety of projects, depending on what your child prefers. It was also reasonable, especially taking advantage of coupons to purchase the supplies. I could not find many reviews out there prior to having our party but I am so happy with our choice. I would highly recommend Michael's as a fun alternative for birthday parties read more

In addition to random occasional trips with the wife, I regularly find myself here before Valentine's Day. The wife has made it painfully clear that she wants the same (inexpensive)candy every year, so I challenge myself with a creative presentation/packaging that I keep attempting to one-up each year. So why Michaels? Because they have so many decorations, packages, vases, and much more. While there are seasonal items for Valentine's Day and other holiday's(like Christmas decorations, which were much cheaper, unique, and better than other places), I like walking around and getting inspired for something more creative and unique. As I walked around for inspiration, I covered the whole store and got to see ALL of the variety of items that they have. Various types of paints, glues, jewels, beads, threads/yarns, papers, floral pieces, crafts, and MORE. Within minutes the ideas were flowing and I came up with a winner. It also helps that the staff are there, eager to assist, and quite friendly and enthusiastic about it. Their prices are good and there always seems to be a coupon, which the cashier rang for me since I didn't have it. If you're crafty, trying to be crafty, or have any type of project, I'd suggest walking around here for help and/or supplies. read more
