The DFW area has some very good Thai restaurants and this spot is one of them, but not my fave. Good grief, this thing was phenomenal. It may have been the single best item we ordered. The crab was cooked perfectly with a satisfying crunch, the bao was pillowy soft, and they showed admirable restraint with the sauce. Too many places drown everything in mayo and call it creativity. Not here. Every bite was balanced and absolutely delicious. Then there was the pork belly burger, which looked like it was about to become my new favorite burger in Fort Worth. Unfortunately, it never quite got there. The pork belly hadn't rendered enough, making it chewy and difficult to bite through. The beef patty also seemed oddly resistant to being bitten. I shouldn't need the jaw strength of an alligator to eat a burger. My wife ordered the black garlic ramen. She loved the broth and thought the egg was excellent, but the noodles were surprisingly firm and ended up mostly untouched. The kid's meal was probably the easiest win of the night. My son happily devoured the chicken tenders and was thrilled to discover that dessert was included. The Cookie Monster ice cream may have generated more excitement than anything else on the table. Overall, this place feels like a restaurant with some genuinely brilliant ideas and a few execution issues. When they're on, they're REALLY on. That soft-shell crab bao alone is worth the trip. Finally leaving a review after many, many visits…read more The food is hit or miss. Sometimes the wings are great, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Other times they're tiny, dry, and disappointing. The real reason I'm leaving a one-star review, though, is because management seems unwilling to take responsibility when something goes wrong. A while back, I found an actual screw inside one of my fried pickles. Instead of removing the appetizer from the bill, apologizing, or making any real effort to address the situation, they simply took away the single pickle with the screw and brought me another one. That was it. Today, my daughter found a hair wrapped around her chicken wing. She was understandably grossed out, but she had already eaten her mac and cheese and another wing. I wasn't asking for the entire meal to be comped. I simply asked if they could discount the one wing or offer some small adjustment to acknowledge the issue. I was told they could only remove the meal if they took all the remaining food from the table or remade it entirely. Apparently there's no option for a simple, "We're sorry, that's our mistake." What made it especially frustrating is that this felt exactly like the response I received when I found the screw in my food. Different incident, same lack of accountability. To top it off, gratuity had already been added to our check because we were a larger party, but nobody mentioned it. Since I wasn't aware, I added an additional tip. A quick heads-up would have been appreciated. I've given this place plenty of chances over the years, but after these experiences, I think today was my final visit.
