Let me preface this review by explaining my situation was quite unique, and gave a detailed insight into how keehi operates, and how dedicated they truly are to accommodating to your needs.
1 month before haul out I call to check on the time we should arrive with the boat. The yard manager, Paul, informs me we're not on their schedule. Turns out, the person I delicated the task of scheduling the haul out, never did. Paul agrees to help me out, schedules a haul out right when I requested, even though he explained the yard was already completely fully booked.
Come time to haul out, Paul got my boat a spot. We were anticipating only being on the hard for a few days. Worked great for Paul's logistics concerning other boats. The coast guard examined my boat, found some rot, and our haul out instantly became a whole month longer. Even though I'd be making Paul's life a logistical nightmare, he agreed to let me stay as long as I needed. He moved my boat three separate times around the yard, each time free of charge, and communicated to me a day in advance so I could plan accordingly.
Being there for a whole month, I git an in-depth look at how things work at KMC. Keehi will always do their best to help you out, and work with you. They told me outright: they're making money off us boaters, and we need to get our boats repaired. It's a mutual relationship they don't intend to abuse or soil. They can't control if everyone will stick to their launch dates and times, but they really do a great job of managing the associated logistics. Paul walks the yard nearly all day, 5 days a week, rain or shine, checking in on people's progress, showing people photos of his recent vacations, talking story, offering advice, and guiding the travel lift. He's a straight shooter, and truly there to help iron out any kinks with everyone's haul out experience.
Hats off to the yard crew Red, Tom, Christian and Ben. (Apologies if I missed someone) They really bend over backwards to help anyone out at any time with a "no problem" attitude. When you're stressed and struggling with your boat, it's nice to be around people that are in good spirits. Especially considering how hard they work. All day, 5 days a week, rain or shine. They'll take the time to get you anything you need, just ask.
Roy of MRM services who is available to be contracted to work on your boat while at the yard is the premier one man band for literally any job. He did glasswork, painting, machinery, and most importantly, provided much needed guidance and direction for the project. A true "can do" attitude paired with a "no stress" mindset, exceptional skill set and availability, he provided the utmost highest quality work of anyone in the yard while I was there. A perfectionist at heart, he treated everything as if it was his own, took the time to plan things out and get it done right, the first time. read more
